aldo, Dooney & Bourke, fall bags, fall handbags, jessica simpson, michael michael kors, nanette lepore, satchels, structured bags

There’s something so utterly lady-like and chic about a structured satchel. With so many versions of it floating around this fall, we can’t help but be excited to add them to our arm candy arsenal!

Here are just some of our current top picks:

1. Big Buddha Jules: The rich quilting and posh chain straps add such a heavy dose of glam to this fabulous satchel.

2. Jessica Simpson Lafayette Large Flap: Perfect for the busy professional, this luscious bag makes easy work of looking pulled-together for that power lunch.

3. Dooney & Bourke Dillen II Mini Janine Satchel: From its classic vintage aesthetic to the rich pebbled leather, we can see ourselves carrying this bag for seasons to come.

4. MICHAEL Michael Kors Margo Medium Satchel: This petite and modern bag is brimming with chic style.

Karhu: Intro to Forward Running

Karhu Forward Men's, Karhu Forward Women's

Minimalist vs. traditional, heel strike vs. midfoot strike, low heel heights vs. conventional geometries… these discussions  in the world of running can sometimes take away from the main goals of running: to be a fun, beneficial and minimally injurious activity for the human form.

Does one type of running shoe or foot strike reign supreme over all others? When you think about the broad spectrum of body types runners have, the clear answer is that there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to both aspects.

That being said, the main pursuit of every runner should be to minimize ground contact and, by extension, become more efficient. At the end of the day, running should be a great stress-relieving activity and a regular part of your healthy lifestyle.

Check out the Karhu “Intro to Forward Running” video below for a detailed look at efficient running form. Happy Running!

Motivational Monday: Stressed and Strapped for Time?

motivational monday, zappos running, zappos.com las vegas rock n' roll marathon 2011, Zappos.com Las Vegas Rock n' Roll Marathon

Starting to feel overwhelmed? Work seems to be piling up, the runs are getting longer, time feels like it’s running out, stress overwhelms you, and you start to say, “Well, I already missed one day I might as well just start up next week.  THINK AGAIN!

Running and exercise in general is actually proven to decrease stress as well as keep you from experiencing any long or short term affects.  When we are stressed out, our mood changes, our blood pressure increases, our productivity level actually decreases, our eating habits and sleeping habits change, I could really go on forever.  But by making running and training just another step in your everyday routine rather than a penciled in event you may or may not get too, you will actually be more productive with other areas in your life in a shorter amount of time!

Think about it, after a morning run, your endorphins are pumping, your mood is happy, your eating is on track, and after a productive day your ready for a great night’s sleep.  You spend less time complaining or dwelling on a project you can’t figure out, an argument you’ve had with someone, or even stressed out about the fact that you didn’t get your workout in.

Once the routine settles in, you begin to counteract your everyday tensions through exercise, you will start to focus on one thing at a time, do what you can do at the moment and don’t look ahead.  It will help you remain calm and clear in everything you do, making you more productive, less stressed out and in the end, give you more time in your busy schedule for a quick blood pumping exercise session! HAPPY TRAINING!

Zapponian Spotlight: Tyson W.

zapponian spotlight,zappos culture,zapponian,ZCLT,zappos culture,Zappos office,Zappos HQ,Zappos headquarters,

(photo taken by Mark Higby.)

This week’s edition of the Zapponian Spotlight is on ZCLT member Tyson W.!

We sat down and asked Tyson a few questions to get to know him a little bit more…

If you could be a mixed drink what drink would you be and why?

T: Scotch on the Rocks

It is abrasive at first encounter and contains a hint of class. Smoother with water and you feel better once finished

If you had a plane ticket to go anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

T: Fiji-Second best goofy footed curl, heaviest waves, and easily the most gorgeous place in the world

Tell us an embarrassing moment…

T: I am English major and was playing Trivial Pursuit with my best friends. One is a valedictorian of their law school, one is a doctor, two are grads in the MBA program at USC. I was winning and they each had one piece left to go. My question was "what do you call an angle greater than 90 degrees."  Being a scholar, I didn't know the answer. After about 20 min they tossed their pieces and told me that the word is “obtuse”. Never played with them again!

We hear that you were inducted into your High School Hall of Fame. What was the best part of that and how did it make you feel?

T: I most enjoyed seeing the slideshow from my junior year and reliving that time since was a magical year for me. It was fun to run into people from high school after 18 or so years and catch up.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

T: Succeeding in a leadership role here at Zappos while also being able to be an editor of a local book featuring local authors

Brooks: Top 10 Reasons to Get Racing Flats

brooks, Brooks Green Silence, Brooks Launch, Brooks Mach 13, Brooks Racer ST 5, Brooks T7 Racer, Desiree Davila, racing flats, runners

1.Racer ST5, 2.Mach 13 Spikeless Men’s, 3.Mach 13 Spikeless Women’s, 4.Green Silence Women’s, 5. Green Silence Men’s, 6.Launch Men’s, 7.Launch Women’s, 8.T7 Racer

We all know that the pros and track stars wear racing flats, but Brooks gives their top 10 reasons why YOU should own a pair to spice up (and speed up!) your regular running sessions:

1.  Confidence boost: Racing flats come in a ton of bright and stylish colorways, so they give your runs an added style boost!

2.   Great excuse for new shoes: There’s nothing quite like slipping into a fresh, brand-new pair of running shoes…ahh, one the simple joys of life!

3.  Comfort: Brooks makes racing flats for all types of stride, and the lightweight and breathable exterior makes for a smoother ride.

4.  Make a statement!: They add a certain level of “track cred”. When fellow runners see you in racing flats, they are sure to notice.

5.  Getting into the “racing” mindset: Racing flats were built for speed, and so are you!

6.  The “cool factor”: They allow you to wear bright, bold colors and prints that you wouldn’t normally wear. Leopard print anyone??

7.  Light as a feather: The Mach13 Spikeless, for example, weighs about 5 ounces for women and 6 ounces for men. That’s miniscule by running shoes standards!

8.  They give you something fun to look at while in line for the port-a-potty! Enough said.

9.  Speed: Lighter shoes=faster time. There’s a reason why the pros don’t run in their training shoes!

10. Feel like a pro: Imagine rocking the T7 Racer and thinking, “I’m wearing the same shoes that Desi Davila runs in!”
