No one can really dictate...
The rain.
But we sure can be, the best umbrella.
With everything in our lives, we can only be in charge of ourselves...and
dictate what "we" do, and not other people or things.
In knowing this, we can be prepared to meet all kinds of
challenges, people and situations with grace.
So when we are faced with things that are not in our control, which is
everything...except ourselves...just like when it rains, we can respond
accordingly...and not get wet.

I hope others read this as I have. Such Wisdom!!! I have been terribly abused in my marriage and by our son. I am now free but I have been struggling with my nightmares and thoughts. It is so true we cannot make other people do what is right or be what we want or need them to be. We can only work on ourselves and be the best we can be. The umbrella seems to represent a guard to our hearts. Knowing there will be disappointments and hurts we can be prepared for these sudden storms and keep ourselves from being rained on by realizing what we can and cannot control.
