There is really nothing...

More rewarding than creating your own success.

Some look towards others to help them out and to help get them started.

But the stories that have some of the most rewarding tales of
achievement are the ones that have started from scratch.

Months ago, I spoke to someone looking to raise some dough, so he could
start his business, yet after talking for a while, he realized that he
could start the business himself...he did it, and he's making great
progress.

And the thing he's really stoked about is not only that he did it
himself...but he also doesn't have to pay anyone back.

Whatever you're selling...

I'm buying!

Wouldn't that be nice, in our personal lives or in business? Absolutely, people lining up and buying what we got!

People will buy anything...as long as we give them what they want....so what are we selling?

Selling a bad attitude, or poor service? Selling others, for a one sided gain, or to make us look good?

Remember, if they are buying, it needs to be about what they want, not
what we want...we all know that, but some of us need a reminder.

You can take a Successful Person...

In any business, put them in charge of a different business and
they will most likely become a success there too.

AND, you can take someone that has run a business into the ground, put
them in charge of a different business and they will probably run that
one into the ground.

That is because people seem to make the same choices in similar
situations which elicit the same outcome. We've all heard the "A tiger
never changes it's stripes"...well, the same goes with people...yet
people CAN change...but seldom do.

In setting up our...

Deal, we want the best, so we usually set up our structure to reap the
best outcome, whether it be in our personal lives or business.

"The best last year, was last years best".

In understanding this important concept, we must take some time out to
re-structure what needs to be re-structured within our lives and
business.

After all, if we want the best outcome for our future, we must not rely
on what worked in the past.

I Thank My Competitors

My competitors do more for me than my friends.

My friends are too polite to point out my weaknesses, but my competitors go to great lengths to tell me all of them.

My competitors are efficient and diligent. They make me search for ways to improve my service and efficiencies.

My competitors would take my business away from me if they could.

This keeps me alert and to hold what I have.

If I had no competitors, I would be lazy, incompetent and complacent. I need the discipline they enforce on me.

I thank my competitors. They have been good to me.

The story of the 2 shoe sales people.

There were 2 shoe sales people that were sent off to a village in a
country where they have never been before, to see if they could do some
new business.

A shipment of a wide variety of shoes was to be delivered within days
of their arrival for display and eventual sales, and to see which would
be the biggest seller...and to then deliver more of what they wanted.

When they both got there, the 1st shoe sales person called the
company and urged them to stop the shipment, because no one in the
village wore shoes.

The 2nd shoe sales person called the company and said "Send all we
have, it is the greatest opportunity I have ever seen - because no one
wears shoes".

Opportunity or Excuse - depends on our perception.

Just enough...

Or maybe just a little extra?

Many of us go day to day with doing just enough to get by.

And at the same time wanting just a little extra out of life, and
themselves.

Well, we sure can get a little extra out of our life and ourselves
simply by just doing more than just enough.

Getting up a 1/2 hour early can easily jump start that exercise
routine, more focus on what we do can save some time for other things,
even cleaning up some unfinished business can open up all sorts of
opportunities.

So if we want just a little extra - we just do a little extra...and it
comes our way.

In business...

A common mistake that is made, is that they advertise when things are
down, in an attempt to bring in more business.

But in reality, when business is down, working on the structure and
function of the business is what is called for, not advertising.

Advertising is to be done when the business is doing great, that way
they are advertising greatness and it will feed on greatness.

Look at it this way - Would you advertise yourself, when things aren't
going so well? Or would you work on yourself to get better, and then
advertise the better you?

Take the Time?

Whatever we've planned, mapped out or look forward to, we need to
remember to take the time, to take it all in.

The journey is usually 95% of the trip, so why spend and the enjoying
for the end?

Whether we have a family, or a business that we are tending to, as it
grows, it will soon be over and we must not "jip" ourselves along the
way.

Hardships, struggles and sacrifice are all trading in our time, for
something better, so we need to be reminded that hardships, struggles,
and sacrifice are better than our alternatives and should be viewed as
such.

Love every step, cherish the ones who have been there along the way,
and embrace the ones that have helped... just as you enjoy your
favorite meal - taste every bite - it will soon be over.
