Day 884

Distracted?

Sure, we all have been distracted before.

But, occasionally our focus stays on the distraction long after the
distraction is gone.

Someone cuts you off in traffic, or is rude in the grocery store...each
scenario is short, and they are in and out of our lives in less than 5 minutes.

So why do they stay in our head for the rest of the day, coloring our
every thought and action?

Answer that question correctly and you've solved the puzzle.

It's not a burden...

It's a gift.

A good reminder of this is the song "He's not heavy, he's my brother".

So what do we have in our world that we perceive as a burden, but would be
heartbroken if it were gone?

Our responsibilities of our work, having to deal with our family, our
relationships or our friends?

We need to stay mindful of the responsibilities in our lives must not
be, or become a burden...as everything in our lives is a gift - and
some more valuable that others.

I'll do it when...

I get more time.

Ever said that to yourself? I did, last week when my youngest wanted to
watch a movie with me, and after I said it, it hit me like a brick,
because I forgot...

We will never have "more" time, only the time that ticks by.

And in embarrassingly remembering that, I am also reminded that we need
to take the time out of our days to do what we want or need to do to
keep balanced, and also for the ones that are close to us and deserve
some of the time we have.

Hopefully it won't hit you as hard as it did me, for not
remembering...we never get more time, and we need to use our time
wisely, for every hour that's gone...is gone forever.

Keep picking out...

Things you like about yourself, and be thankful that you have them,
because before too long, what you once liked, will be gone.

Many people try to hold onto things that go away, and become
attached to loss.

Your perfect physique and good looks? - Over time, gravity beats out
exercise, and things lose form. Maybe switch to liking wrinkles, uh -
character lines, and be excited to wear glasses and love the teeth you
still have.

Your enthusiasm and endurance? Maybe start being thankful for being
able to take your time doing things and for the patience you have
acquired along the way.

Just keep picking out new things and you won't have the time to think
about the things that have slipped away.
