Day 904

Communication is Key

Ever reached out to someone and they don't get back to you?

It kind of holds up what you reached out for...and also kind of
"smacks" of, "You don't matter", right?

And that kind of message is not the best one to ever receive.

We have handled that challenge here at Zappos and make every possible
effort to have "same day" responses...and a 24 hour maximum.

That's just another way we are lending a helping hand for the progress
of
others, getting things done and making people feel like they matter,
because they do.

Keep at it?

Sure, why not?

We're talking about doing what we do, whatever we do, while helping others out.

We are just doing our part, in planting seeds, that's all.

We can't plant seeds and expect a harvest tomorrow, and it makes no sense to dig them up to make sure the seeds are still there.

We simply plant seeds, and continue planting...and over time...we will
be able to see more beauty in our future than there was in our past.

Not much to it, we don't have to water, give them sunshine or pulls weeds, so why not?

A smile...

Can help bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like us.

A smile can also help us reinforce our subconscious pathways and all
the positive physiological effects it brings about.

A smile is also a great way to make someone feel special..."Have you
ever entered a party or event and didn't recognize anyone...
then a smile welcomes you and you suddenly feel special?

The best thing we can wear, that helps us and others...is a smile.

If you can do it...

There's really nothing to it.

But it doesn't mean what you do, isn't amazing!

Playing a guitar, doing a pirouette, typing super fast, singing on key,
drawing...the list goes on and on, and there IS something you are great
at.

I am amazed at the talent I see, just walking around.

So if you can do it, there maybe nothing to it...to you, but it sure is something
to others.

Why is it...

We tend to only schedule our headaches?

With "To do" lists..."To do" this, "To do" that:

Pick up the laundry, go shopping, clean the toilets, mow the lawn, go
to work, gut the garage, buy the present, finish the chores...not a lot
of love there.

We need to spin it, and schedule time to "Do to" ourselves and
others...that's where the love is, whether we are in a relationship or
bliss - we need to make the time.

We are going to "to do" until we're done, so we better "do to" before we are.

What we see in the mirror...

Is not always what others see.

We are all unique and beautiful in our own special way.

Yet, we don't always see it. This is because some of us are self
critical, and our worthiness or self esteem is usually below the view
of what others see.

Yes, most people think more highly of us than we do of ourselves, and
we should attempt to raise our view of ourselves to at least match the
view of where others see us, for starters. Why not? We only have to change our perception.

And if we have a hard time raising the view of ourselves - just keep at
it, and in the meantime...remember, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".

Balancing our lives...

Must not only be for ourselves.

Balancing our own lives can be a challenge, but with a little focus, we can accomplish anything.

The real challenge that needs to be handled, is including "others", in part of our deal.

Have you recently shut down everything and engaged in some focused
communication with those who mean so much to you? Or have you been
putting it off? If we have been procrastinating, when we stop and think
about the reasons why we haven't done it...are pathetically defenseless.

When we spend enough time connecting, in person or in some other way
with the ones we love, it makes the whole balancing act worthwhile.

The Things I Do...

The things we do are graded not only by ourselves but others as well.

What are the things you do that make a great and positive impact on
your life as well as the life of others?

Is it the way you listen to others...the way you make people feel about
themselves, or maybe it is what you do on a consistent basis that makes
the world turn a little sweeter?

Only you know...and it's pretty nice when you can proudly say to yourself at
the end of the day, after you brighten up the world around you...

The seed of Greatness...

Is in us all.

What comes of our seed of Greatness is how we "water" it.

We can "water" it by giving, positive thinking and doing, helping
others, being a mentor, making the right choices and more of the same,
which brings out the finest growth of any seed.

Or we can water it with selfishness, negative thinking and doing,
taking from others, being a poor role model, making poor choices and
more of the same, which will produce a withered weed, with no sense of
reason.

Whenever we get into a "Pickle"...

It's usually our ego that's to blame.

In most situations where we have difficulties with others, it is
our ego, which promotes subjectivity to come into play.

When we are "outside" of another's challenges, looking in, we can
usually see the situation without the ego, objectively, as we are not
part of the challenge. And by seeing it this way...a solution is clear.

So when we get ourselves in a "pickle" with the help of our ego, we
may just want to step back objectively and come up with an objective
solution.

This is the inevitable posting of day 666...

Yikes - The number of the Beast!

Most people stay away from 3 consecutive 6's because of certain
beliefs that have come down with history, I was included, when I joined
a country club where my club number was 666.

Initially, I was suspect on where and when my golf game would implode,
because of my number. But once I decided to have my beliefs trump the
beliefs of history, things got better, much better - had a lot of fun
and won some good dough on that track - even though I was tagged with
666.

I know others that have 3 consecutive 6's that identify them in some
way, in their address and even in their phone numbers - and they are doing pretty good too.

Know this: Your beliefs are stronger than the beliefs of history, myths
or others.

Give them Dignity...

Or give them nothing.

Dignity is the quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect.

Dignity is also one of the most coveted qualities that people cherish.

We all have a continual quest for self-esteem and that we are worthy.

So when we deal with others, we must remain mindful that their dignity is
just as important as ours, and we must strive to keep other's dignity
in tact.

We matter, and so do others, so let's keep giving ourselves and others,
what they need.

Move it, Move it.

There are times when we need to get going, especially when we face
challenges.

"When the coals get hot, we need to move our feet", otherwise we get
burned.

And "When we are playing with Elephants, we need to move quickly, or we
get stepped on".

Good things to know, because there are times when we need to get going
and look around, instead of playing our own game, in our own time.

Because whenever we are playing a game - we are playing with others.
