From time to time...

We all have "our world" that seems to cave in a bit, and we feel the
pressure from all sides.

As a matter of fact, it can feel tighter than the middle seat in coach.

But we all have choices on what to do when we feel the squeeze...we can
continue to feel uncomfortable or we can use the feeling as inspiration to loosen things up.

Being uncomfortable from time to time, is just a part of life, and it's up to us, what we want to do about it.

Muddy Waters...

Said it all, back in the day..."You can't spend what you ain't got, and
you can't lose what you never had".

So maybe we need to focus on spending what we got...and get it out in
the world, because we all have a lot...a massive heap of contributions to offer.

And if we can't lose what we never had, we must not be preoccupied with
losing or loss of any kind.

So let's spend what we've got, and don't even think about what we never had.

There are Imitators...

And there are Originators.

Imitators don't do a lot with the exception of "parroting" what someone
else already did.

But Originators, can be the spark that changes the way the world spins.

If it weren't for Originators, we would have nothing new in the world,
and probably still be eating around a campfire...and only if there was a
least one Originator that invented and harnessed fire.

So up to you, what you want to be, but I know that you have the power
and knowledge to be an Originator...we just need to look deep inside.

I saw an interview yesterday...

About a rising star in womens tennis.

It was about Melanie Oudin, a 17 year old who is ranked 67 in the world
for the upcoming US Open and placed in the top 16 at Wimbledon.

Her coach for the past 8 years is Brian De Villers, and he has a theory
of why there are not more American players in the top World rankings.

He said, "They are too soft in America. There are too many escapes
clauses for the players, whether it be college, or some other choice,
and most come from affluence, so the minute the going gets tough...they
bail.

Hmmm?

Life doesn't get much better!

Sure we have our ups and downs, ins and outs, ahead and behind, we can
go on and on, it's just called balance, everything in life has balance.

We breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide, plants do the opposite.

The tide rises and then retreats, there is day and then night.

So what's the big deal about setbacks?? They're only balanced by comebacks.

And challenges...love 'em, they are just balanced by opportunities.

WOW, what a world we live in...it doesn't get much better than that.

If you can change...

"I am afraid that it may not work out" with...

"There are people and things already in place that will help me".

And " I'm too old or I have never done that before" with...

"Today starts a new day and I can do, whatever I set out to do".

Your world will never be the same.

A great Offense wins games...

And a poor Defense, will lose Championships.

Not to say, we don't want to create our own best offense for success.

We just need to make sure that as we compile our offense, of what we
are great at, while creating a great defense that keeps our points on
the board and the others at bay.

We can have the best offense in the world, but if we are bleeding on the other side...it doesn't matter at all.

How Big is Your World?

It's most likely a lot bigger than when we were born.

We're not talking the real world, but "Your world".

Remember back when you were a small child - your entire world was your
bedroom - the place where we all slept, played and had dreams of what
we wanted to become.

As we grew older, our world included our backyard and then being a
passenger in a car, and seeing things that we have never seen before.
And before long, our world included school and friends and then our
world...soon became the real world.

The real world can be intimidating to say the least, as some of the
past comforts and boundaries have all but disappeared, but with all the
choices and opportunities that are there for us...what are we going to
do with them?

Check out the name tag...

You're in my world now:)

We probably all would like to say it, but may be a bit over the top...but we can humbly feel it inside.

Not that we don't care about others...it just is a pretty good credo to
have as a mindset which put us fully in control and ready to "get
after" whatever we want to "get after".

I bet Tiger Woods feels that way when he walks onto the golf course.

Back in the day...

"If you were happy when you were working, then you were not working",
which was a bad thing...and people were told to wipe that smile from
their face and put their nose to the grindstone.

Things have changed, but not all of the views have.

Some that come through Zappos seeing happy people, working and having
fun, and can't quite see how things get done...maybe the new saying is:

"If you are happy when you are working, you are not working", which is
a good thing, because if you are happy and enjoy doing something, you
are in bliss and studies show that you are more productive and creative
while in bliss.

New perceptions can take time to reach the tipping point, so let's all keep
being happy while working, until the rest catch on...and ultimately we
will be helping to deliver Happiness to the World.

The Things I Do...

The things we do are graded not only by ourselves but others as well.

What are the things you do that make a great and positive impact on
your life as well as the life of others?

Is it the way you listen to others...the way you make people feel about
themselves, or maybe it is what you do on a consistent basis that makes
the world turn a little sweeter?

Only you know...and it's pretty nice when you can proudly say to yourself at
the end of the day, after you brighten up the world around you...

Agape?

You betcha - there's more than one kind of Love.

Agape; Unselfish love, brotherly love, mouth wide open, as in wonder,
surprise or eagerness.

Sure does smack of the love found within the Culture at Zappos.

Agape can help with anything you're involved with, and it sure helps to "Make the World a Better Place".

You can always be a Winner and...

...not Always win.

We don't need to interpret every loss as losing, but as giving to that
which does not mean much to us...it's called "Choosing Our Battles".

Life is give and take, a beautiful balance, and even sometimes it's
better to let someone else "win", to help make the world a better place.

As the old saying goes "You can't win them all", you don't really want
to...just remember "The Winner sometimes takes the Loss".

Sharing is...

Caring.

That's from our very own Illustrious Fred!

He's right - and we innately learned it when we were kids - you
remember - when you cared about someone - you shared, and when you
didn't - they got nothing.

But as we grow older, we also begin to understand that sharing is just
a great thing to do - no matter what we have, or who the other person
is...because as adults, we know something that we didn't know as a
kid...we can always get more of what we share, and when we share
first, it opens the spirit of caring.

Nice one - Making the World a Better Place
