TRUE LIFE: I WISH I COULD GO TO FASHION WEEK

Ah, Fashion Week… it’s a grand desire of mine to go. But I wouldn’t necessarily want to go in the shoes of the three who did go to Fashion Week in MTV’s True Life: I’m Going To Fashion Week, which aired Saturday, April 5. Stefanie is the assistant to Kelly Cutrone, founder of People’s Revolution, a PR company known to launch fashion labels (and is also, coincidentally, Whitney on MTV’s The Hills new place of employment. Hmmm.). Stefanie is, in short, Kelly’s personal slave; she makes her breakfast, works long hours to make sure everything’s done, and is especially busy during Fashion Week. Yes, Stefanie got to work Fashion Week, but personally, I’d want to keep my social life.

Jaime was a design student at the Academy of Art University and was chosen to show in Bryant Park. Pretty sweet, actually, and she got a ton of exposure – even if her stylist wanted her men’s collection to exude an air of Marvin the Martian. No, really. Lastly there’s Cassie, designer for New York Couture, who wasn’t chosen to show in Bryant Park, but had her own rad fashion show at Club Rebel. As a result, several boutiques picked up her line.

Ideally, I’d like to sit in the audience and just admire the fashion and not do lots of work like these three. But I guess Fashion Week really isn’t all fun and games, just ask those who work behind the scenes.

Sheer fabrics were all over the catwalks this past spring season. Perhaps it's the way the sheerness of the fabric completely transforms an outfit, or maybe it is the subtle, peek-a-boo sexy vibe it gives off. Whatever it is, it is a necessary addition to every woman's wardrobe this season. Wear a dress with a sheer overlayor a smoky sheer cover upa dress with a sheer overlay over a metallic dress for night.
