I want to thank Zappos for publicizing the fact that the site was hacked, and for taking quick, decisive steps of informing the customers to change their passwords!

I didn't immediately, thinking that was a spam or phishing attempt, but when I saw the announcement on CBSnews.com I knew.

I just happened to hear about the hacking on the news. No email, nothing on the site. I'm surprised and disappointed at such inaction from what I had previously thought was a very open and socially conscious Company.

With regards to the alert emails about the hacking attack: If you have already checked your SPAM folder and were unable to locate this email, it's possible that it has yet to be delivered. We recently sent out over 20 million emails to our customers in an effort to communicate this message effectively to them. With that many emails being sent out, it is possible that some may have been delayed in their delivery. Please check all email accounts (and their subsequent SPAM folders) that you may have to ensure that the email address that you are checking is indeed the account that we have on file, and not a linked account or forwarded account.

fwiw, I'm getting spam e-mails with virus attachments on an e-mail address that was created exclusively for zappos e-mail; so yes, whoever hacked zappos has sold/published the data...
