THE TIES THAT BIND!

LiLo — that’s Ms. Linsay Lohan to you — will be the new face of fashion lifestyle brand Fornarina, making for a hopefully strong and trouble-free pairing. The news was revealed a la Ms. Lindsay herself at Fornarina Urban Beauty Show at the Carrousel du Louvre on Monday in Paris. It was reported that the crowd was 2,000 strong, whether that was due to the brand, the curiosity of Lindsay or both, it is not known. The first pictures of Lindsay fronting the brand break in 2009.

Thankfully for us here at Zappos.com, it won’t matter when the ads break, as we already carry the brand. Hear that LiLo? We are already in the know, thank you very much.

Well, there is a style for everyone, they say. So with that, we ask, what do you think of man capris? Or as we like to call them here on the Couture team, 'man-pris'? Because yes, these are men's capris. Do you love 'em or hate 'em? We so want to know.

Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy's bass player, obviously thinks appearance is important. In addition to opening a hair salon in Chicago, he's got a clothing line, Clandestine, out at local Nordstroms. From the photo above, it looks like he may have taken note of fiancee Ashlee Simpson's style - the model is literally rocking out while rocking an alternative tank top and skinny black jeans.

Rompers makes the Couture Team think of children’s outfits from Gap or a Children’s Place, as well as a reminder of the old ‘70s show ‘Romper Room’. Yes, the semi-jumpsuit has made a vintage-like reappearance this season from the funky and fun labels like Paul Frank to the various other incarnations flooding the marketplace. As usual here on the Couture Team, we are split. Tell us, do you love ‘em or hate ‘em? Our inquiring minds want to know.

We here at Couture chat about products incessantly. For our readers, we refer, advise and suggest. However there are certain products that cross our desks that require a call to action, so ‘cravings’ was born. Our current cravings are for: Moschino’s stylish sailor-inspired scoop neck top with pleated sleeves/bottom and Jean Paul Gaultier nautically stripped cropped peacoat-esque jacket.

Wear them separately or together for a fabulously layered mixed print look.
Ooooooh la la!

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - MARC ECKO

Graffiti might be illegal and images of it might conjure up thoughts of teenage delinquents, but it was something that helped make Marc Ecko different from other designers. At the age 20 while still enrolled in Rutgers University, Ecko capitalized on his graffiti artist roots and started a men’s clothing line. The line’s urban edge appealed to the masses, and now it’s carried by several retailers, including our very own Zappos.com.

Ecko’s signature lowercase ‘e’ adorns several of the shoes in his Red by Marc Ecko collection. His shoes, men’s and women’s clothing and even kids’ clothing is mostly athletic inspired with a street feel. His collections have impressed lots of other designers, such as Ed Hardy and 50 Cent – so much so, that they collaborated with Ecko on a few business ventures, such as Avirex (Ed Hardy) and G Unit (50 Cent…as if it could be anyone else with a name like G Unit). With his company growing the way that it is, it’s clear Ecko will stick around for the long haul.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - CHRISTIAN LACROIX

It might be surprising to learn that one of the world's most dramatic, unapologetically elegant and glamorous designers almost didn't become a fashion designer at all. Christian Lacroix originally wanted to be a museum curator, and studied at the Sorbonne and Ecole du Louvre in Paris. Can you imagine? Lacroix's talents almost went to waste – maybe he could have embroidered the walls of the museum?

Lucky for Couture.Zappos.com that Lacroix fell into fashion by chance, landing a job as an assistant at Hermes and the rest is history. The Spring 2008 shoe collection is full of the design flourishes - sumptuous velvets, satins, crystals, color and prints, that Lacroix is famous for. The Christian Lacroix flower-embroidered pump is both perfect for jeans and a tee that need a bit of dressing up or a pencil skirt and blouse for work. The high-heeled sandal with rhinestone detail is elegant without being too formal and pairs beautifully with a little black dress. No wonder he's sustained longevity in the business!
