Pete Wentz, Fall Out Boy's bass player, obviously thinks appearance is important. In addition to opening a hair salon in Chicago, he's got a clothing line, Clandestine, out at local Nordstroms. From the photo above, it looks like he may have taken note of fiancee Ashlee Simpson's style - the model is literally rocking out while rocking an alternative tank top and skinny black jeans.

THE DAILY TREND - WOVEN SHOES

Don’t weave in and out of the woven shoes trend. They’re most flattering in wedge form and extremely summery. Pair these with a floaty white skirt and a cute tank top or khaki shorts and a V-neck sweater for a night out.

Couture’s incessant product obsession has taken us over again. This time around, it is the mega heeled runway shoes from DSquared2. Who can resist the allure of being tall, striking and wearing the hottest shoes? Obviously we can’t and we hear neither can Ms. Rihanna who wore them down the Spring/Summer 2008 runway. Now if we can only figure out how to get the fabulous car filled with all of those fabulous boys in it.

Yes she aufs people from her runaway hit Project Runway, models for Victoria's Secret, sings, designs jewelry, and oh yeah, is a mom and married to singer Seal. If that were not enough, now she is designing a full brand of clothing for Jordache Jeans, which she currently models for. There will be countless stlyles of jeans (naturally), tops, coats, etc.... All a fab lady needs for the day or to go out for the evening.

The line is carried by Bloomingdale’s NYC, 1000 Third Avenue, (212/705-2000) or through Bloomingdales.com.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - DSQUARED2

The brothers Caten of the DSQUARED2 label mix superb craftsmanship, cool practicality and a little theatre (a holdover from their party host days, no doubt) to create one of the most sought after labels of today. The fashion cognoscenti were particularly abuzz about the Men’s Fall 2008 collection. It was all about the tailoring, the ski motif, the camouflage bomber jackets, tartan plaid and the mix of usual suspects — a little swagger and joie de vivre.

How happy are we here at Couture that we carry the line of shoes? Estastic, actually. Our picks for men are: a great, versatile summer sandal; a wonderful monotonal everyday shoe; and a shoe for an evening at La Bernadine or the opera. For women, we were torn, so much to choose from, so few words to write it in: good enough for Rihanna on the runway, good enough for us; this artfully, height challenging sandal is worth the climb; and who doesn’t need a sensible, sexy hot shoe?

What's yellow, green, red and white all over? These fabulous stilettos from Guiseppe Zanotti, silly. You are able to walk many city blocks in them, they make your legs look longer than the fifty-foot woman (okay, maybe four inches longer), they elicit whistles wherever you turn. Yes, we love them so. But don't take our word for it. Buy them, try them and whistle while you strut.

THE DAILY TREND - SHORTS

Who wears short shorts? Women who know how to pull them off, long or short, the right way! Do: find the right length and shape for your body. Don’t: copy Daisy Duke or similar looks from magazines. These shorts by Moschino are high-waisted enough to tuck in shirts without looking costumey, or work with a long camisole. Wear them with sleek sandals and a few simple bangles, and you’re ready to go! Note: make sure your legs have seen at least some self-tanner before wearing.

Rompers makes the Couture Team think of children’s outfits from Gap or a Children’s Place, as well as a reminder of the old ‘70s show ‘Romper Room’. Yes, the semi-jumpsuit has made a vintage-like reappearance this season from the funky and fun labels like Paul Frank to the various other incarnations flooding the marketplace. As usual here on the Couture Team, we are split. Tell us, do you love ‘em or hate ‘em? Our inquiring minds want to know.

FASHION TIDBIT: TRANNY HOT MESS

Christian Siriano won PRW and his growing star power due to his flamboyant personality seems to know no bounds and definitely resonates with the masses. One needs only to check the former SNL video from an earlier blog here (that’s right folks we were ahead of the curve on that) to see the following he has.

As Christian and the House of Siriano made their entrance into the ficticious Mode magazine from Ugly Betty, Editor-in-Chief Daniel greeted the great one with “how happy they were to have him and how fierce it is to have him there.” Faux pas, yes! As the rest of Mode staff hung their heads and hid their eyes in shame, Daniel clueless as always was schooled by Christian that no one says that to him, because it is so over!” In reality that saying was over for over five years until Mr. Tranny Hot Mess, deliverer of the word "fierce" himself, resurrected it. Obviously you can school oblivious dogs (in Daniel’s case, that is) in new tricks.

Neon green is a fun trend for summer – just don’t end up looking like a Christmas tree! Less is definitely more with brights. Stick to one neon green purse or shoe, like these Siegerson Morrison flats, and comprise the rest of your outfit with neutrals or black and gray shades.

Ladies, rev up your going out engines. Slim dark demin jeans, a ruffled collar halter silk shirt and peep-toe pumps. Which bag should you choose? Should it be the trend-on Carlos Falchi exotic skin bag or the vivid-hued red Alexander McQueen one? The Couture Team wants to know.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - DEREK LAM

“It’s all in the details,” Vera Wang is often quoted as saying, and that so aptly describes designer Derek Lam. Some designers are invented, then there are those that are, in a sense, manner born to it, as was the exuberant but at once artfully restrained Derek Lam. This former Parsons School of Design graduate and CFDA winner started his career as an assistant to designer Michael Kors, quickly moving on to Vice President of Design for the Kors line before starting his own eponymous line in 2003. His signature pretty, girly and crisp silhouettes caught the eye of Diego Della Valle of Tods and was soon installed as its Creative Director. For those of you who follow his design genius, you know this is a design reign which is truly artistically supreme.

Luckily for all of the fashionistas that can’t quite afford his designer runway pieces, he has developed an accessory line. Um, thank you Derek, as though I needed another shopping obssession. Couture.Zappos.com features his fabulous sunglasses in an array of styles such as the Gemma (Gemma Ward perhaps?), Camille (actress Camille Belle?) and the Venetia (an ode to Tods owner Diego?). Whatever your shade or shape, these sunglasses will elicit the behind-your-back gossip that proves you have truly fashionably impressed!

Wooden heels are a summer staple. Hopefully women everywhere can get themselves a pair – knock on wood! These wooden heels look summery with a jean skirt and tank top, and wooden wedges are comfortable to wear from day to night with light colored shorts and a dark top.

WE TAKE IT BACK - MOST FASHION DESIGNERS ARE COMPUTER PHOBIC

Apr 19, 2008 by Stephanie S.

Last weekend, Couture reported that a surprising number of fashion designers aren’t proficient in computers. Today, we gladly report that at least one designer is very proficient, and is using it to his advantage. Ennio Capasa of Costume National is glamourizing cyberspace by launching Costumers and Plug Generation, an online journal, and his own personal blog with a behind-the-scenes look at Costume National.

Visitors to cnc-costumenational.com can get the inside track on the latest fashion shows, preparation and shooting of advertising campaigns, commentary from staff, models and make-up artists and watch behind-the-scenes video. Capasa’s personal page is blog.enniocapasa.com, which shares a lot of the same behind-the-scenes stuff, but also what Capasa himself goes through in his day-to-day life and his personal travels. Oh, the glamorous, glamorous life…

Rising temperatures mean you can let your feet go free! Get them out of
those stuffy boots and lace-up oxfords and bare them in fun, flirty
sandals. Miss Trish of Capri has lots of great styles – gladiator flip-flops, tie-up flip-flops and sandals with tropical-esque embellishments like gold seahorses,
turquoise and white. Take your pick – you can’t go wrong with any of
her flats – but our favorite is the Bali seahorse sandal.
