A great flat is priceless. It's chic, sophisticated comfort in a delicate, modern silhouette. Couture is loving these Proenza Schouler snake-embossed flats with grosgrain trim. They're perfect when paired with broken-in boyfriend jeans and a v-neck sweater.

CRAVINGS - COLOR BLOCKING

Color blocking, a strong trend for spring and fall 2008, is a delightful update of the geometric pattern that we have been seeing the last few seasons. The look has been seen on dresses and accessories in a fusion of color in bands of fabric, or patchwork designs in leather. It lends that essential pop to a monotonal outfiit, or brings a little color creativity to a multi color mix. The Couture team is loving the Sergio Rossi Peep Toe Patchwork Pumps, the Steve Madden Kobraa Bright Multi Flats, the Chinese Laundry Niko Brown Multi Pointy Toe Pumps, and the Baby Phat Multi Strap Snake Embossed Sandal.

From its humble beginnings on Scottish battlefields in the 1500s, to designer runways for Fall 2008, tartan and tartan-esque plaid have made a huge fashionable resurgence. Couture is loving the definitive plaid on lace up ankle boots , on stylish flats, on chic tunics, wrap braelets and shoulder totes. Target has done it again, the designer coup this time is the New York based designing duo Sigerson Morrison. The duo known for their stylish, ‘I can walk all over Manhattan’ flats, funky boots, edgy booties, brings their fabulous flair to Target with a line of styles that runs the gamut from embellished flats to d’Orsay-inspired velvet pumps. Sigerson Morrison is quoted in Target’s print ads as saying, “to us, designing a rocking, edgy, totally affordable shoe is the best kind of challenge.” For the masses, that is the best reason to buy them, well that and Target’s motto of expect more and pay less.

Ladies, who doesn't love an attractive, elegant flat? What other shoe brings Funny Face, Roman Holiday and Sabrina to mind faster than a dainty, pointy toe flat? It is chic and comfortable, can be dresssed up or down, and appeals to the edgy and uptown crowd alike. The Couture Team loves a great flat to pair with our A-line dresses, our sweater coats, tees and leggings or our jeans and a henley. What are we loving right now? Elie Tahari Gabby Snake Embossed flat, Sigerson Morrison Low Cut Side Flat with Embellished Pouf, Michael Kors Gold Metallic Flat with Bamboo-inspired Buckle, and Moschino Silver Metallic Flats with Side Cut Out Details and Flower Buckle with Stone Encrusted Center.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT - DELMAN

It is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius... Okay not really, but it is the dawning of a new era at the Delman company. The iconic shoe brand, known for their exquisite quilted flats, will be celebrating more than its 90th anniversary next year, it will also be celebrating a top-to-bottom makeover. The brand, owned by Nina Footwear Group, made its first industry shoe print in the early 1900s and grew steadily well into the ‘90s. With the brand having a slowdown in sales and facing a changing customer demographic, new management was put in place, as well as a younger, hipper designer placed at the helm. This formula proved to be a winning mix, giving the brand better positioning and the appropriate energy injection that was needed. The payoff? A more modern design aesthetic resulting in hipper, more youthful styles, a new fan base, and more streamlined business operations. In recent months, the new designs have generated a lot of buzz for the brand, as well as having countless celebrities photographed in their shoes, both on and off the red carpet.

Here at Couture.Zappos.com, we did not need the generated buzz to know the label is a great discovery. From the Mona patent flats (a favorite of actress Brooke Shields) to the Stella slingback pumps, to the multi-hued patent leather chunky heeled sandals, there is something for everyone to love. What are we loving now? The Stella peep toe platform slingback pumps in black patent leather with a silver platform, the Mona patent leather round toe flats in navy, and the Gaiety-S suede boot with buckle detailing in chocolate.

Flats are fabulous, especially now that we're transitioning into fall. As with any transition, seasonal or otherwise, what does one do when it is getting to cool to wear one thing, but it's a bit warm for another? The answer, fabulous flats. We here at Couture picked out our favorites, each with their own little something - a buckle, bright color, or bows, for instance - to help you stand out.

1.) Elie Tahari driving shoe 2.) Moschino velvet flats 3.) Taryn Rose Branda flats 4.) Kate Spade Bedelia flats 5.) Marc by Marc Jacobs Red Kid flats 6.) Michael Kors Hanna flats 7.) Belle by Sigerson Morrison flats 8.) Emilio Pucci navy/ivory patent flats 9.) Juicy Couture Ever yellow flats

It is funny how persuasive the news media can be when it comes to celebs, ‘It’ girls and creating the buzz around the latest must-have accessories. For instance, Couture has been loving the Delman Uli ankle strap thong sandal for months now. Why? Because they are simply designed, comfortable yet very chic, making them perfect for almost any occasion. They can be paired with white jeans and a leopard print halter top, with a great LBD (little black dress) or with shorts and a T-shirt. Clearly, we are not the only ones loving this shoe, the Delman Uli recently was given a shout out in June’s In Style magazine. Couture.Zappos.com carries the featured Silver Mirrored Metallic, as well as the lovely Rose Gold Mirrored Metallic hue and the delightful Midnight Blue Mirrored Metallic hue. And yes, Couture was, again, ahead of the trend curve here.

Comfy, casual attire is usually favored by the public. If you can’t wear sneakers to work, these red flats in an athletic-almost-ballerina-style are comfortable yet can pass for dressy, and they go great with skirts and work slacks (and jeans, too, for casual Friday).
