Bugs and mosquitoes might be annoying, but nature is showing up on lots of apparel and fashion accessories. Spiders and such aren’t so scary when they’re adorning brooches or printed on shirts, or find the prettier parts of nature, like birds or butterflies, adorning sunglasses and other accessories.

Paris, Nicole Richie and Posh proved oversized shades don’t look funny at all. Well, the trend did take some getting used to, but it ultimately won, and oversized shades are definitely a staple for summer. These Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses are a shade under being too big.

“It’s all in the details,” Vera Wang is often quoted as saying, and that so aptly describes designer Derek Lam. Some designers are invented, then there are those that are, in a sense, manner born to it, as was the exuberant but at once artfully restrained Derek Lam. This former Parsons School of Design graduate and CFDA winner started his career as an assistant to designer Michael Kors, quickly moving on to Vice President of Design for the Kors line before starting his own eponymous line in 2003. His signature pretty, girly and crisp silhouettes caught the eye of Diego Della Valle of Tods and was soon installed as its Creative Director. For those of you who follow his design genius, you know this is a design reign which is truly artistically supreme.

Luckily for all of the fashionistas that can’t quite afford his designer runway pieces, he has developed an accessory line. Um, thank you Derek, as though I needed another shopping obssession. Couture.Zappos.com features his fabulous sunglasses in an array of styles such as the Gemma (Gemma Ward perhaps?), Camille (actress Camille Belle?) and the Venetia (an ode to Tods owner Diego?). Whatever your shade or shape, these sunglasses will elicit the behind-your-back gossip that proves you have truly fashionably impressed!

THE DAILY TREND - AVIATORS

Goose, Maverick and Ice Man started the trend. Nigo and Pharell made them cool. Kate (as in Moss) gave it status. Both guys and girls can pull off these shades. Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, and Ed Hardy are a few designers who have modernized aviators. Rock them nearly everywhere – outside when it’s sunny, at night so you can, so you can watch me weave (name that lyric!), even in the mall so you look that much more rock star than the teeny-boppers.

New York is where I’d rather stay, I’m allergic to smelling Long Island hay, darling I love you but give me Madison Avenue... Such could be the theme song of the amazing Michael Kors, who began his fashionable career at the tender age of 19 at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He would go on to become the quintessential designer of what now is referred to as classic American Sportswear. His designs are an embodiment of the jet-set culture, both in his use of luxurious materials, precision tailoring and fabulous fits.

Kors’ classic pieces are chic, sexy and comfortable, making them the favorites of many socialites, celebrities, models and the like. Is it any wonder then that his classic handbags, fabulous shoes, and trademark stunning sunglasses are hits here on Couture.Zappos too? Our faves: Michael Kors classic Jackie O. octogonal shades, the Santorini chain flap rattan handbag, and the elegant two-piece chain detail metallic heels.
