MICHAEL KORS NEW SWIMWEAR PARTNER

Michael Kors has always said that his collection isn’t about the clothes themselves, but rather, a lifestyle. He designs for the upscale traveler and the chic sophisticate, and a resort feel is definitely Kors’ strong suit.

Knowing that, and how swimwear is an integral part of resort wear, it isn’t really surprising that Kors will be expanding his swimwear offerings. The designer just partnered with Swimwear Anywhere Inc after Warnac Group Inc dropped them last year.

Kors plans on debuting the new swim collection for his label, which will include several classic one-piece suits, he says, in October with a price range of $90 to $140, and will be available at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Even though October is past the prime of summer, you’ll just have to take a fall vacay to St. Bart’s to show off your new suit.

Miami is always hot, but it will definitely be heating things up during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. Starting today through July 21, 15 designers will show their swimwear collections, including Custo Barcelona, tibi, Diesel, Tommy Bahama, Ed Hardy Swimwear and ANK by Mirla Sabino, among others.

The swim fashion week is a first for Custo BarcelonaEd Hardy Swimwear and tibi, who are launching their first-ever swimwear collections. From what we’ve seen from Custo Barcelona at least, the company shouldn’t be nervous. Their bold, metallic suits are hot!

Ladies, swimsuit weather is upon us, well, at least on the West coast. There are bikinis, tankinis, vintage bikinis a la Bardot, and, of course, the uber sexy cut-out one-piece. However, we here at Couture were wondering, no matter how fabulous the suit, what does one do about the odd tan lines? How does one go from a cut-out to a two piece? Do you love 'em or hate 'em? Please tell us what you think. Really.

FASHION TIDBIT - BABY COMES FIRST

Since giving birth to her first son last year, model Eva Herzigova put the swimwear line she started designing on hold. That used to be her 'baby,’ she told Vogue.com, but now that she has an actual baby of her own, "unless I get a license deal, I don't think I'll do it," Herzigova said. Pity, imagine how cute the fashions would have been.
