Celebrity Gossip: Madonna turns 50! And What Celebrities are Heading for Divorce Court Now?

Aug 30, 2008 by Becky

So is it considered a bad thing when your marriage falls apart after just eight weeks? That's the question Chris Kattan is asking himself these days since it was announced that he and his model wife, Sunshine Tutt, are separated (with no plans for divorce just yet). Is anybody else as curious as I am to know what caused the split? It wasn't like Chris and Sunshine just met or anything either. The two had been dating since 2005 and Chris proposed back in 2006 by giving Sunshine an engagement ring for Christmas.

Madonna turned 50 this past week and celebrated the milestone event by throwing a huge birthday party for herself and her celebrity friends. However, it seems that even a big, fancy party doesn't make up for the fact that your closest friends aren't there. Madonna went as far as admitting during her birthday speech that she was disappointed that some of her closest friends failed to make an appearance at her party, never mind the fact that 90 of her other closest friends were at the party. Another noticeable event at Madonna's 50th birthday party was the fact that hubby, Guy Ritchie, was there to help her celebrate. Could it be that the rumors of their split are really only rumors?

One couple that is definitely headed to divorce court is New Kids on the Block member, Donnie Wahlberg. Both Donnie and his wife, Kim Fey, filed for divorce on August 13th using the old standby "irreconcilable differences" as their reason for divorce. Of course, it wasn't like we didn't see this one coming. Donnie and his wife, Kim separated way back in January of this year while Donnie was busy with the whole New Kids on the Block reunion mess. Whether or not the reuniting of the New Kids had anything to do with the split is still unknown though.

Clothing Sizes and Body Type: So, Your Neck Isn't Like That of a Gazelle

Aug 29, 2008 by Stephanie Modkins

So you may not have been blessed in the neck department, but don't worry, there is a cure for SND "Short Neck Disease", and that's fashion. Here's the how to and what to wear for those of you whos necks may not be like that of a gazelle.

SND is a disease that tends to strike people of smaller stature more than their taller counterparts. Unfortunately, its effects can be devastating. Hunched up shoulders. Awkward hanging neckwear. Missing necks during sweater season. It all contributes to an unfashionable look and posture that reflects poorly on a person suffering with a short neck. However, there is good news. SND can be managed quit easily by following a few fashion rules.

Rule #1 - SND sufferers should practice good posture.
Good posture is a part of fashion. (Ask any model.) People with short necks should stand up straight and hold their shoulders back. It will relieve them of the hunched shoulders. Plus, their clothes will hang better.

Rule #2 - SND sufferers should adjust neckwear to fit their neck.
Necklaces or chains should fall at least an inch and half below the base of the neck line. Fashionable scarves should be thin and tied in a way that exposes the neck. (Think of a very loose, enlightened tie.) Also, chokers and other neckwear that emphasizes the shortness of the neck should be avoided by people living with SND.

Rule #3 - SND sufferers should wear tops with open necklines.
Scoop neck and V-neck tops are great choices. Blouses or shirts should be unbuttoned by at least two. Turtlenecks should be avoided and other tops that cover the neck. By keeping the neckline open, short necks will not be cut off or completely hidden.

So you see, individuals who struggle with SND can manage it well by following a few rules. These rules will elongate their neck and help everyone miss the fact that it is so short. As a matter of fact, most people won't even notice that the person is suffering from SND. All they will see is good fashion.

Talk About Second Hand Clothing!

Aug 28, 2008 by MJM

One of the trends in environmentally friendly fashion is a movement toward recycled materials. This makes sense. The green movement is inextricably linked to recycling. It only makes sense that a green movement in clothing would include shirts, hats, pants, shoes and accessories made from recycled materials. Here are some of the recycled materials that you might find in some clothing:

Plastic
Plastic, when melted down, can make a material that is quite useful in clothing. It may seem counterintuitive, but two-liter plastic soda bottles can be used to make fleece. Patagonia has been using recycled plastic soda bottles in its Synchilla fleece for 15 years. Hats and totes from companies like Clothes Made From Scrap are also made from plastic.

Recycled plastic has been used in other items as well, from shoes to pants to accessories (like belts).

Glass
Accessories are some of the most popular items made from recycled glass in the green clothing movement. This is because it is possible to make glass beads and faux jewels from recycled glass.

Reclaimed cotton
Cotton mills routinely waste a great deal of cotton. While this cotton hasn't been used by consumers, it is still waste. Instead of throwing it out, this reclaimed cotton can be used in a number of textile-based recycled clothing products including hats, shirts, coats, pants and shoes.

Car tires
Recycled car tires can be used in green clothing as well. In fact, recycled car ties make excellent soles for shoes. Car tires are sturdy, supportive and can be used to provide good traction. There many different companies that use recycled car tires in their shoes.

It really is amazing when you think of the possibilities that these materials have for a new life as useful articles of clothing. There is no need for them to go to waste.

When it comes to recycled green clothing, however, nothing beats buying something used. Any type of recycling does require some sort of energy output (although, in most cases, recycling the material is better than throwing it out). Buying used clothing is the best way to be earth friendly with recycled clothing.

Britney Spears' Life in Print, Jonas Brothers Rockin' Summer, Brendan Fraser Too Cheap to Buy and Keep

Aug 27, 2008 by Becky

If you'd ever wondered to yourself if there was a book out there that could help you raise a nutcase daughter that loses custody of her kids and another daughter that manages to get knocked up at 17, you can rest easy now. Lynne Spear's memoir, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World, is set to hit bookstores in September. The book was originally slated to be a parenting guide, but when news of Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy broke, Lynne's publisher had to scramble to figure out how to make the project work since most people weren't going to be running out to buy a book of parenting tips from the Spear's mom.

Another person looking to cash in on Britney's fame is her former self-declared manager, Sam Lufti. Sam is the one that was blamed for Britney erratic behavior, including shaving her head. He's said to be shopping around a tell-all book spilling the most personal details of Britney Spear's life. Whether he'll actually be able to get a publisher to buy it is another question, but something tells me he won't have too much trouble finding one.

The Jonas Brothers are certainly having a good summer. Unless you've been living under a rock (or without TV) you know that the Jonas Brothers are everywhere - they have their own movie, Camp Rock, Disney TV shows, a new hit album and a sold-out concert - not to mention countless appearances on TV shows. Now it seems that the Jonas Brothers have purchased a $2.9 million dollar home in a gated community in Dallas, Texas. Way to go, Jo Bros!

We've all done the "buy a dress for a special occasion and return in the next day to avoid paying for it" deal at some point in our lives. But now a celebrity is being ratted out for doing just that. Brendan Fraser reportedly purchased thousands of dollars worth of clothes, wore them, had them dry cleaned and then returned the clothes for a full refund. I guess even celebrities are capable of being a little too frugal sometimes.

Importance of Clothing in Art, Film, TV, Music: Like a Superhero

Aug 26, 2008 by Racheline M.

Let's face it, at one time or another most of us have had a moment where we've wished we were superheroes. Maybe we could right the wrongs of the world or just get the housework done faster. Regardless, the fashion world knows our secret desires, which is why so many fashion moments have actually been inspired by the outfits superheroes wear in comics, movies and television. This is, in fact, so much a given, that The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is currently featuring an exhibit on this very trend.

From shoes that combine vibrant colors with athleticism and drama (the work of Gaultier is a prime example) to a futuristic trench coat from Norma Kamali, the superhero and her many disguises are everywhere. In many ways it's this act of disguise in the story of the superhero that makes it such an appealing fashion idea.

After all, everyone wants to be fabulous, and all clothes are costumes. If every man can't be superman, at least he can be Clark Kent. The mild-mannered disguises of superheroes are often just as compelling fashion concepts as the outrageous uniforms superheroes wear on the job. From the retro buttoned-up looks from labels like Ben Sherman or the sudden ubiquity of the secretary blouse for women, highly stylized conformity is suddenly as fashionable as outrageous individuality.

Small nods to the superhero can show up in the most unlikely places, from Spiderman cufflinks to a Batman-themed kids Croc. And superheroes are a huge part of marketing! Want to be faster on the track? There's the Adidas Supergirl track top. Want a style "pow"? try the classically styled "Harper" from Goorin Brothers.

If you're into comics, you know that superheroes are largely self-invented. After some freak occurrence, they examine their powers, choose a name, find a mission and come up with a look. With today's bevy of fashion choices, there's nothing stopping you from doing the same. Just leave that whole fighting crime thing to the professionals, okay?

Miss Spears is back, Hayden's Family Troubles and the Loss of a Comedy Legend

Aug 25, 2008 by Becky

Hayden Panettiere got some unwelcome attention when her dad, Alan, made headlines for allegedly hitting Hayden's mom, Lesley Panettiere. It seems Hayden's dad thought that Lesley was getting a little too close for comfort to someone at a party the two attended and ended with an argument that escalated into Alan being arrested for alleged spousal abuse. Hayden's dad was later released on $50,000 bail but is saying that the whole incident was blown out of proportion.

The comedic world lost a great comedian when Bernie Mac died due to complications from pneumonia. Bernie Mac was admitted into the hospital on July 24 and had been in intensive care since then. It seems that the initial problem began when he developed an infection due to the medication he was taking for his inflammatory lung disease. The medication caused his immune system to be suppressed and when he developed the infection, his body just wasn't able to fight it off as well as it should have. Bernie will be sorely missed in the comedic and acting worlds.

I have to admit that Britney Spears is really starting to grow on me again, now that she's gotten rid of Sam Lufti. And now it seems that she'll be making an appearance on promos for the upcoming MTV VMA's. Nice to know Britney doesn't hold any grudges. Let's just hope she wears clothes that actually fits this time.

TV/Movie/Celebrity Style: Rings the Size of Cocktails and Tunic Dresses

Aug 21, 2008 by Tiffany B

We all know that celebrities have plenty of money to spend on jewelry and accessories, and they are definitely showing that off. A big trend in jewelry with celebrities is big cocktail rings. They can be worn to red carpet events or just dates on the town. It seems like the bigger the better. Such celebrities as Fergie, Mariah Carey, Eva Longoria, Carmen Electra, Paris Hilton, Blake Lively and so many more have been seen sporting huge cocktail rings around Hollywood. The rings are definitely noticeable and catch the eye quickly. Rihanna is almost always photographed wearing some sort of huge cocktail ring on her fingers, and usually more than one. Although celebrities may pay thousands of dollars for some of their rings, some of them actually go the cheaper route. Marc Jacobs makes cocktails rings that are not that expensive and can be afforded by the average person. Try out his cocktail rings on your next date out to help you feel like a celebrity.

As summer winds down, it seems like celebrities are getting in their last days of summer fashion with tunic dresses. Tunic dresses are usually mini-dresses that are not really form fitting and are usually in a bohemian print or style. If you don't dare wear a mini-dress out in public, a tunic dress can also be worn with a skinny pair of jeans underneath. This will also help you take this celebrity trend into the fall. Such celebrities as Nicky Hilton, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rachel Bilson, and Hayden Panettiere seem to love tunic dresses and have worn quite a few of them. For a more defined look, pair your tunic dress with a belt, like the ones from Dolce and Gabbana as Rachel Bilson did.

The tunic dress can be worn in two different styles. To go for more of a casual look for your tunic dress, do what Nicky Hilton does and pair it with a pair of flat sandals. To make the tunic dress more of a dressy outfit, pair it with a pair of high heeled sandals as Carmen Electradoes.

Celebrity Gossip: Car Crashes, Ex-Girlfriends, Beverly Hills, and Paparazzi

Aug 18, 2008 by Becky

Lesson #1: If you're planning on cheating on your boyfriend, never get into a highly publicized car accident with the guy that you're messing around with. Isabel Lucas learned that love lesson the hard way after getting into a car accident with her Transformers 2 co-star Shia LaBeouf just a few weeks ago. Paparazzi and gossip sites were quick to jump on the news and within hours it was splashed all over the Internet. Looks like her boyfriend, Entourage star, Adrian Grenier, wasn't in the know about Isabel and Shia hanging out, because shortly after the accident the couple split up.

Carrie Underwood slung some mud back at Jessica Simpson in a recent interview in Allure magazine. Jessica was recently photographed in a t-shirt that said, "Real Girls Eat Meat" and of course it's a well-known fact that Carrie Underwood, who is also Tony Romo's ex-girlfriend, is a vegetarian. Well, it seems that Tony Romo still calls Carrie Underwood from time to time, although she does admit that she doesn't always pick up the phone when she sees it's him. I wonder how Jessica Simpson is going to take this little tidbit of news.

And it looks like Tori Spelling won't be returning to Beverly Hills 90210 after all. Online reports are saying that the Beverly Hills alum is upset over the fact that she wasn't offered the same amount of money per episode as her former co-stars, Jennie Garth and Shannon Doherty. Jennie and Shannon are mum on what they were offered, but both say that they don't really believe the issue is about money. Hmm, what could it be about then, ego?

The Hills might be MTV's most popular reality TV show, but that doesn't mean that its stars are loved by everybody. Neighbors of Lauren Conrad and fellow roommates, Lo Bosworth and Audrina Patridge, are not too happy about the fact that tour buses and paparazzi are constantly invading what used to be a quiet, little neighborhood. Still, there's not much that the girls can do about either of those, so for now they're staying put.

Evolution of Clothing: Empire Waist

Aug 18, 2008 by Racheline M.

The empire waist, in which the waist-line of a garment is just below the bust, is a fashion trend that reappears throughout history.

The style takes its name from its popularity in France during the Napoleonic wars. The style was a radical shift from the clothes of an earlier age which were voluminous, heavily corseted and extremely restrictive. Empire-waist dresses were, by contrast, designed to echo the ideals and aesthetics of ancient Greece and Roman aesthetics, which were an extremely popular artistic motif of the time. In stepping away from the heavily-bound styles of the past, women suddenly had much more freedom of motion, although society still restricted them from most physical activity and treated all unmarried women as children.

The empire waist has had periodic resurgences since then, all at times of social upheaval. It was hugely popular in the 1960s, and again represented a moment in time where women were freed from extremely restrictive undergarments. The 1960s resurgence also maintained the Napoleonic era's interest in the dress form's Greek and Roman origins. A key difference from the Napoleonic era did emerge though with both long version of the dress, and mini-dress versions appearing. And, instead of only using light-color gauzy fabric, bright colors, crochets and a mix of patterns were suddenly a welcome part of the style.

The empire waist also enjoyed a brief resurgence in the 1990s as U.S. politics went from being dominated by Republicans to Democrats. The short form of the dress and darker colors remained popular.

Today, a time of political upheaval and technological change, the empire waist remains popular at all lengths, and has even migrated into a blouse form (usually presented in vivid patterns), which many of today's women appreciate because it hides a range of figure flaws, is alluring yet demure, and looks appropriate on a broad age range.

For a fashion named after a fallen empire, it's not going away anytime soon.

Clothing Rules: Muffin Tops, Fun to Eat, Not Fun to Wear!

Aug 17, 2008 by Stephanie Modkins

"Would you like some butter and jelly with that muffin?" I'd like to ask this question to a portion of the women I see walking around these days. Their "muffin top" is so fluffy that it looks like they just baked it fresh that morning. All they are missing is the condiments that go with it.

For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, a "muffin top" is the excess flesh spilling over the waistline of a pair of pants or skirt that resembles the top of a muffin spilling over its paper casing. It is a phenomenon that has reached mass hysteria with women after the reintroduction of low-rise, hip-hugging bottoms and midriff-baring tops back into fashion. Although many people blame this problem strictly on this latest trend, there are really other issues going on with women who flaunt muffin tops. What is the biggest one? DENIAL.

Most women who have muffin tops don't want to admit to themselves that they have gained weight. They can't accept the fact that their clothes haven't shrunk in the washer. These women are stuck on a certain size - a size too small. For this reason, their body must reapportion itself every time they slip on a pair of pants or skirt. It's a sad situation that requires only one solution. What is it? THE UNADULTERATED TRUTH.

So to all of you young and old women who want to wear the latest trends and have the muffin top to prove it, it's time to go back to your favorite store and do one more thing. Get measured! That's right. Let the lady behind the counter measure all of your dimensions and find you an outfit that encompasses your entire belly without showing one single roll. Trust me. You will feel much happier because you won't have to walk around with a waistband stuck into the circumference of your gut. Also, you'll look slimmer. Make it a rule to get measured on a yearly basis and you'll never flaunt another muffin top again, except on your kitchen table.

San Diego IS Staying Classy

Aug 15, 2008 by Nancy L.

San Diego Fashion Week will take place for the first time ever this year from September 28 through October 3 under a West Coast "big tent" at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. It is the first ever fashion show group with dual nationality, too, as it's jointly sponsored by the USA and Mexico at a prime location near the border. (I used to work for a publishing company with headquarters in the USA and Mexico so I can vouch personally that such joint ventures near borders equal great parties!)

Designers include Amillie, Fashion Overdose, Fuegorosa, Ivette Alaniz, Jeans for Justice, Lauren-Elaine Designs, Lust4Luxe, Lizz Russell, Made Jewelry, Nelli, Parris Harris, Sergio Alcala, Stacie May, Sugar Couture, Sweet Petites, Watch Me! By Petra O., and Ximena Valero. The designers are pretty much evenly split between US companies and Mexican companies, and each adds their own special flavor to the event. As you'd expect from a California fashion show, green is a major theme, with such lines as Charmone Shoes showing, who create couture-quality shoes out of cruelty-free, sustainable materials. Their tagline is "Charming shoes, in harmony with the earth" and Natalie Portman, a well-known animal rights supporter, is a huge fan of them. They're truly sexy and reasonably priced for a designer shoe as well (most styles run around $200).

The thing that really surprised me about Mexico when I visited back in the '90s was how glamorous it was. The shopping rivaled some of the best cities in the world, and the ladies who lunched set would have been equally at home on Park Avenue, Worth Avenue or Rodeo Drive. Jorge Corella, a San Diego native of Mexican descent, designs a line called Amida by Jorge Corella which features custom-made, top quality, figure flattering couture gowns in bold prints that are all one a kind. They skew young, so they'd be perfect as prom dressesbut I could also see those high-fashion ladies of Monterrey, Mexico buying them as Quinceaera (the sweet 15 party, which is a big cultural deal in Latin America) gowns for their little heiresses.

Celebrity Gossip: Breast Cancer, Babies, Marriage

Speaking of famous twins, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are denying reports that they used IVF to have their twins, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline. While it's true that you don't necessarily have to go through IVF to give birth to multiples, everybody knows that your chances of having a multiple birth increase greatly with IVF. It's especially popular among wealthy couples. However, Brangelina adamantly deny those reports and even go on to say that if they had undergone IVF that they would most certainly be open about it.

Pete Wentz is preparing for fatherhood by reading up on parenting books and watching movies like Look Who's Talking and Look Who's Talking Too. It seems that Pete Wentz's own dad is getting in on the preparation and offering fatherly advice to Pete by telling him that when it comes to your children it's best to not have any expectations.

Rumor has it that Lindsay Lohan and hat-loving gal pal Samantha Ronson may tie the knot later this year. Of course, their pending nuptials would come at about the same time that Lindsay's new album drops... but that wouldn't have anything to do with it, now would it? Lindsay's mom, Dina Lohan, is said to be gearing up to throw Lindsay and Samantha a huge wedding reception. Maybe she's hoping to include it in her new reality TV show, Living Lohan?

And finally, some sad news - Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The 36-year-old actress has a history of breast cancer in her family, but the good news is that doctors did catch it early. She should hopefully be just fine after completing treatment.

Freeman's Crash, Sheen & Richards still fighting and more Jolie-Pitts

Aug 12, 2008 by Becky

The big celebrity news this week was Morgan Freeman 's car accident in the Mississippi backwoods. From what police officials can tell, Morgan Freeman apparently fell asleep at the wheel and at some point the car went off the road and flipped before landing in a ditch. Morgan Freemen, who can be seen in the summer blockbuster hit, The Dark Knight, had to be freed from the car and its wreckage before being airlifted to a nearby hospital to be treated for a broken arm, broken elbow and shoulder damage. The good news is that at this time, Morgan is doing just fine. The surgery apparently went well and he is recovering as best as can be expected. We wish Morgan a very speedy recovery!

If any two celebrity exes know how to drag out a fight, it's Charlie Sheen and shoe lover Denise Richards . But this time, they're dragging their daughters' pediatrician into the middle of their feud. Apparently, Charlie and Denise disagree on several aspects of their children's lives, and one of those aspects is whether or not their girls, Sam and Lola, should be vaccinated or not. Charlie doesn't agree with vaccinating kids, while Denise thinks vaccinations are absolutely essential. Somehow Denise Richards was able to get her daughters vaccinated without Charlie stopping them. But he did eventually find out! And to retaliate, he decided to pay off his outstanding doctor's bill with a boxful of... nickels. That's right, Charlie Sheen paid off an almost $400 doctor's bill with nickels. If it had been me, I would've gone all the way and just paid it off in pennies.

Angelina Jolie just gave birth, but are she and Brad Pitt gearing up to adopt more kids into their family so soon? According the National Enquirer, they are! The rumor is that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have begun the process to adopt another child from an African country. But they're not stopping there, it looks like they also have plans to adopt a baby from China at some point in the future. That's going to be one full house!

Don't Leave Home Without Your Clutch

Aug 12, 2008 by Tiffany B

So, you have an evening out and you don't want to bring your huge handbag with you. What would a celebrity do, you ask? Well, clutches are huge among celebrities now. Not only do they use them for red carpet events, they also take them on vacations and for nights out on the town. Such celebrities as Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Karina Smirnoff and Carrie Underwood have all been seen sporting clutches to big events and nights out around town. When you go for a clutch, keep it simple and remember that you can't put that many items into it. A makeup compact and a cell phone will probably just fit in one. A favorite with celebrities are cute dressy styles from Alexander McQueen and for a less dressy look, try Michael Kors.

What celebrity trend doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon? Plunging necklines. It seems like dresses and tops are getting lower and lower. Celebrities just love it. I guess if you have it you might as well flaunt, right? Well, that's what they are doing. At any red carpet event, you are likely to see at least one celebrity wearing a very daring, plunging neckline. Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Cynthia Nixon all wore plunging necklines to movie premieres this summer. While other celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie and Sandra Bullock have been seen wearing plunging necklines out around the town this summer. If you want to pull of this celebrity trend, you may want to purchase some double-sided tape to keep yourself from having a wardrobe malfunction. And, if you have a rather large chest, this celebrity trend may not be for you after all.

If you are not daring enough for a plunging neckline, then you still have a couple more weeks for cute summer sundresses. Long or short, celebrities love to relax or stroll around town shopping in sundresses. This is a definite celebrity fashion trend that all can wear. Pick a style of sundress that looks best on your body and you too can be a celebrity fashion diva.

Celebrity Style: Handbags

Aug 11, 2008 by Tiffany B

What's hot with celebrities and their handbags right now? Color, color, and more color. For summer all the celebrities are carrying around brightly colored handbags. They are ditching the plain white, black or brown handbags and getting some color into their handbags. Colors such as pink, purple, green, red and yellow are all the rage this summer. Both Nicky Hilton and Jessica Simpson were seen carrying around green handbags while shopping. Other celebrities, such as Jada Pinkett Smith, Cameron Diaz, Rachel Bilson and Rihanna also have gotten into the brightly colored handbag trend. To get this celebrity trend, try handbag designers such as Marc Jacobs and Kate Spade to achieve the celebrity trend. They make brightly colored handbags that the celebrities love. When following this celebrity trend, you need to make sure that your handbag is not going to clash with your outfit. Try a brightly colored handbag with a traditional outfit such as jeans and a t-shirt or a plain colored summer dress.

Not only are celebrities going crazy for brightly colored handbags, they are also sporting brightly colored jeans. Yes, I said brightly colored jeans. Jeans that are pink, purple and green are a hit among trendy celebrities. Rihanna was seen sporting neon pink jeans with a black top and she is not alone. Victoria Beckham, Fergie, Cameron Diaz and Hilary Duff also like to wear brightly colored jeans. Now, this is not a trend for all. To wear brightly colored jeans you have to be a size 2 or smaller, and you have to know how to pull it off so that you do not look like you just came in a time machine from the '80s. Not everyone can pull off neon pink, skinny jeans and still look trendy. In fact, this celebrity trend may be one to just keep to the celebrities.

While we are on the topic of bright colors, we might as well mention nail polish. Celebrities are trading in the pastel and neutral colors for neon and brightly colored nail polish. Now, this is a trend that all can follow. Try pink, purple, blue or yellow nail polish the next time you want to give your outfit a little pop.

More Celebrity Baby-Booming!

Aug 10, 2008 by Becky

Celebrities are the worst when it comes to jumping on the bandwagon of the latest fad! Whether it's buying the latest popular handbag or getting knocked up with twins - if one celebrity does it, they all want to follow suit. Well, the latest celebrity to announce that she's pregnant with twins is none other than The King's daughter herself, Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa Marie and hubby, Michael Lockwood, are expecting their new bundles of joy this fall.

Adding to the celebrity baby boom news are former American Idol contestant, Bo Bice and his wife, Caroline Fisher, who welcomed a new baby boy into their family. They named their son, Caleb. Now while Bo Bice isn't exactly in the A-list category with such celebs as Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts, it's still nice to see that some celebrities can actually give their kids normal names and not doom their kids to a life of ridicule.

Is Heath Ledger 's ex, Michelle Williams, getting close with director Spike Jonze ? It sure looks that way. Michelle and Spike have been seen on both the East and West Coasts having intimate dinners, cuddling up and kissing - you know, all the things that couples tend to do. Of course, both of their reps are staying mum on the status of their relationship, but if they really didn't want anyone to know, why would they take the risk of being seen together in public, right?

Pamela Anderson is best known for her face and um, shall we say, other considerable assets. However, it seems that even Pamela is smart enough to know that all beauty is fleeting. Rumor has it that cameras on the set of her new reality TV show, Pam: Girl on the Loose, have been forbidden to film any close-ups of Pamela's face. Not only that, but producers of the reality TV show have given the order that Pamela is only to be filmed in "flattering lighting". Gee, I wonder what Pamela really looks like under all that make-up. Do I even want to know?

Fashion Shows: Rock & Republic Rocks New York Fashion Week Spring 2009

Aug 8, 2008 by Melissa L.

Rock & Republic will be showing at Spring 2009 New York Fashion Week on September 6, 2008, and I hope to be there in person, as last year I watched their fashion show on a video screen in the lobby of the main tent at Bryant Park, due to a series of parking mishaps that left me locked out of the Carolina Herrera show, which was my A-list invitation for my very first Fashion Week ever. It turned out okay because immediately afterwards I got myself into Nanette Lepore without an invitation by sweet-talking Nanette's mother, but that's a story for another day.

Rock & Republic, the brainchild of CEO and creative director Michael Ball, is best known for their fit-oriented, sleekly modern denim, but they've branched out quite a bit, first into what I would call club wear, and now they're launching a cosmetics line just in time for fall. Side note to laypeople: the fashion shows - at least the RTW, couture works differently - are labeled 6 months in advance, so a fashion show that takes place in September 2008 is Spring 2009. Confusingly, however, cosmetics lines are labeled with the actual current date. So Rock & Republic's new Fall 2008 cosmetics line will debut at Spring 2009 Fashion Week, in September 2008. (And everyone wonders why I'm so easily confused - half my brain is taken up with stuff like this.)

The women's wear in Rock & Republic's Spring 2008 show featured a long, lean silhouette reminiscent of Bianca Jagger in her Studio 54 days. For those of us above a certain age, virtually anything called "modern" harks back to our childhood, but it was a gloriously glamorous era that I remember through a haze of nostalgia so I couldn't like it more. In some ways, the men's line was less appealing to me, because it harked back to John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, but Michael Ball is currently collaborating with Julia Restoin-Roitfeld on Rock & Republic's first major ad campaign for the September magazines, which will be coming out in a couple of weeks, so expect amazing things from them in the very near future!

Whitney is Back (maybe), Shia Gets in More Trouble and Bono Becomes a Godfather

Kelsey Grammar gave everyone a scare when he was hospitalized again earlier this week. Kelsey suffered a minor heart attack while on vacation in Hawaii last summer, but had been doing fine since then. The fact that Fox recently canceled his sitcom, Back To You, didn't help matters any, but he seems to be doing better now that his doctors have changed his medications and doses. Here's hoping that Kelsey Grammar gets many, many more years on the small screen.

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf just added another notch to his typical young Hollywood star belt - he was busted early Monday morning for a DUI after crashing into another car while attempting to make a left turn. Both he and the driver of the other car were hospitalized but it seems that none of the injuries were very serious. Poor Shia, whatever hopes he had of not falling into typical young Hollywood behavior are quickly disappearing.

Hollywood's hottest twins, Knox and Vivienne, are going to be getting a superstar godfather. And just who is this new godfather? None other than U2's Bono, of course! It seems that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been friends with Bono for a few years and they also just recently spent an entire week after the twin's birth hanging out at one of Bono's houses. Hmm, I wonder if Bono will get some cool shades for the twins.

Talk about embarrassing! Heidi Montag, resident Hills villainess, was at Kitson signing autographs and promoting her new Heidiwood fashion line, which includes sexy dresses and accessories. The surprising thing is that Heidi's clothes were actually selling out! Hard to believe, especially considering the fact that fan favorite Lauren Conrad's fashion line was reduced to hanging on the clearance rack. When Lauren was approached by TMZ paparazzi about this fact, she of course had no comment.

And finally, Whitney Houston is back in all her diva glory! Whitney's latest track is a duet with Akon titled "Like I Never Left" and in the short time that it's been leaked onto the internet the response has been more than favorable. Could this really be Whitney's comeback? I certainly hope so!

Shoes of the Stars!

Celebrities don't always make wise decisions in the shoe department. I mean, have you seen some of the shoes they wear? Stiletto heels that are 6 inches high or platform shoes that look like you may fall over in them. But sometimes they do get it right and start a fashion trend that is actually comfortable. Take for instance boots and ballet flats.

Before you know it, Fall will be here and one staple that you should have in your wardrobe, if you want to look like a celebrity, is a pair of boots. So many celebrities have been seen wearing boots even in the summer. Now, I am not saying to go out in the scorching hot summer and pair shorts with boots like Hilary Duff did, but why not start your shopping early for fall and stay on trend with celebrities? There are tons of different styles of boots, from ankle boots to knee-high ones. There are plain boots, moccasin boots and even cowboy boots. Celebrities seem to love Marc Jacobs and his shoes. Well, Marc Jacobs makes an amazing pair of boots, and the celebrities would approve of them, as Jessica Simpson and Mischa Barton all have been seen wearing boots by Marc Jacobs.

Another big trend with shoes among celebrities is still the classic ballet flats. Ballet flats can be worn in spring, summer and even into the fall. You can even wear dark colored ballet flats into winter as long as you are not walking through five feet of snow. They are basically a shoe for all seasons. Such celebrities such as Blake Lively, Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan all wear ballet flats around town. For once celebrities actually got it right, since ballet flats are such a comfortable shoe. You can wear them in a variety of colors and designs. Some have adornments on them and others are just plain. One of the most popular flats is by Elie Tahari. They come in so many different colors and styles that you are sure to find one that suits your outfit and style.

Lindsay Doesn't Cause an Accident, Justin and Jessica's Mom Issues and Britney Doing Better

Hollywood party girl Lindsay Lohan was involved in yet another accident after partying hard one night in her dancing shoes. The good thing is that this time it actually wasn't even Lindsay's fault. The story goes that Lindsay was sideswiped by a motorcycle as she exited a club late one night. Although Lindsay was taken to the emergency room as a precaution, she was treated by medical staff and released shortly after. So no worries - Lindsay can now go back to not commenting on her relationship with Samantha "Is she really more than just a friend?" Ronson.

There may be something standing in the way of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel 's fairy-tale happy ending - her future mother-in-law. It seems that Justin Timberlake's mother, Lynn, hasn't taken too well to Jessica Biel. Or rather, Justin's mother hasn't taken too well to Jessica telling Justin that he needs to be less of a mama's boy and more of an adult man. In fact, the problem has gotten to the point where Justin is seriously hesitating about whether or not he should ask Jessica to marry him simply because he doesn't want to do anything to upset his mother. All this despite the fact that he's already been engagement ring shopping. Gee, I guess being a celebrity doesn't save you from having a mother-in-law from hell.

And speaking of parents who still control their adult children - it looks like Britney Spears ' dad, Jamie Spears, will remain in control of Britney until at least the end of the year. Whatever he's been doing sure seems to be working though. Britney is slowly cleaning up her image and looks to be poised to make a big comeback soon.

According to Perez Hilton, Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have officially ended their relationship. Um, didn't they like just start dating? That sure was fast! Not only did Kate end things rather quickly with Lance, but it seems she's already moved on to her next victim. Yup, love 'em and leave 'em Kate Hudson was reportedly seen shacking up with an ex-boyfriend of hers almost immediately after breaking up with Lance.

Twins are the New Hollywood Fashion Accessory

Aug 1, 2008 by Becky

Is it just me or are twins the latest fashion accessory in Hollywood?

Adding their names to the list of celebs who are expecting twins are Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn. The couple married last year and the twins will be their first children.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are running from the hills - the Hollywood Hills that is. The couple recently told Extra that they are shopping for some new digs away from all the drama that comes with being a reality TV star in Hollywood. Of course, this being Speidi, they were also quick to mention that the home they hope to buy is in the $15 million range (yeah, right) and will be the home where they raise their family in. I don't know if I buy the whole "getting away from the drama" story, my suspicion is that they're being run out of Hollywood. Makes more sense, doesn't it?

As if Ryan Seacrest hasn't already appeared on a million different TV shows, he's now eligible for an appearance on Discovery Channel's Shark Week. That's right, Ryan Seacrest was actually bitten by a shark while he was hanging out on the beach wearing his sexy swim trunks recently. Luckily, Ryan's shark bite didn't prove to be too bad - he was back on the air later that day bragging about it and asking for an Advil. What do you want to bet we hear about this shark bite for years to come from Ryan?

Rumor has it that the Gossip Girl stars Penn Badgley and Blake Lively are heating things up by constantly touching each other and making out on set that it's making the other cast and crew members very uncomfortable. Not only that, but now that Penn Badgley has a new love interest on the show, Blake is becoming incredibly possessive to the point that nobody is talking to the new girl in fear of upsetting Blake. Anybody else see a cat fight in the future?
