Celebrity Gossip: Laguna Beach, The Hills and Gerard Butler

May 29, 2009 by Tiffany B

If you watched Laguna Beach on MTV a few years back, you would know who Kristin Cavallari was. If you never watched Laguna Beach, then you probably have no clue who she is, as her efforts to become an actress has gone nowhere. Apparently, she is getting a second chance though. Kristin will be making an appearance on the season finale of The Hills, which will be *Heidi and Spencer*'s wedding.

It is also being reported that she is going to replace Lauren Conrad on the next season of The Hills. Lauren has made it known that she will not be doing The Hills anymore and now Kristin has signed on to appear in 10 episodes next season. According to an interview with EW, the reason why Kristin Cavallari is returning to reality television is, "The goal for me is to get my fans excited about me again. When I first started out, I had a celebrity name but I didn't have the acting skills I have now. If I have some buzz with my name again, I feel like it will only help." Kristin replaced Lauren on Laguna Beach and now the same is happening on The Hills. I have a feeling that The Hills is going to reach the same fate as Laguna Beach: Canceled!

Another celebrity has a black mark on their record due to the paparazzi. Actor Gerard Butler was charged with misdemeanor criminal battery after a run-in with a photographer at a premiere party. It's alleged that Butler, who starred in the movie 300, got angry at a paparazzi and hit him in the lip three to four times. A rep for Butler says that pap was stalking Butler and was chasing people through the streets. If Butler is convicted of the crime, he could face up to six months in jail. His arraignment is scheduled for June 10. There was no comment from the actor's lawyer.

Building a Wardrobe in Your Teens, 20s, 30s: Build a Fitness Wardrobe

May 29, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

Today, fitness activities are a major part of people's schedules. However, many people don't give their fitness wardrobe much thought. As a result their workout outfits are ill fitted, they are not flattering and they do not provide the person with the protection that they need from chafing and rashes. Fortunately, all of these problems can be resolved by simply giving your fitness wardrobe a little thought.

Sizing Fitness Clothing
While you may not think that the size of your fitness clothing makes much of a difference it is actually very important to wear fitness clothes that actually fit your body. Clothes that are too tight can keep your body parts from completing their full range of motion, they can cause serious chafing and they can cause rashes and sores from rubbing on your skin. Fitness clothing that is too loose can also cause problems. For example, loose clothing can get caught up in fitness machines, it can cause chafing and it can make completing exercises difficult to do because the material gets in the way.

The best way to avoid all of these problems is to select fitness clothing that fits your body properly. This means that it is lose enough that you can bend, twist and stretch without discomfort and that it is form fitting enough to prevent material from getting caught in fitness equipment or bunching up on you. If you don't know what size to get look at the sizing chart found on the clothing item or on the website.

Selecting Fitness Clothing Pieces
To develop a fitness wardrobe you will want to start at your feet and work your way up. To begin with you will want to buy socks that are designed for sports. These socks will give you a little more padding at the Achilles' tendon, they will be more absorbent and they will provide you more cushioning on the soles of your feet. Next, you will want to select a couple of pairs of workout shoes. They should fit your feet both length wise and width wise.

Your workout undergarments should be made from material that will breathe and that will also wick about moisture from your skin. They should also provide you with the support that you need for your exercises of choice. Finally you will want to select tops and bottoms that fit your body shape, that are appropriate for the exercises that you do and that are made from a material that breathes well.

Maternity Style: Show Off that Baby Bump!

May 28, 2009 by Sabah K.

By the time you've reached the third trimester of pregnancy, it's virtually impossible to hide that baby bump, even under a Miu Miu or Maxi dress. Your best bet at this stage is to wear figure-flattering clothes that actually show off your bump, and provide you with plenty of comfort and support as you go about your busy day. Finding clothes that flatter your curves is your best strategy for looking chic and fashionable during this last stage of pregnancy, and staying comfortable while hormones are raging. Skip the baggy shirts and oversized tunics, and trade them out for some shapely pieces that will enhance your silhouette!

For dresses, look for pieces that are gathered right under the bustline, or those that have a thin tie or belt right above your bump. These will enhance your bust and shoulders, and help you achieve a balanced look. Stick with ¾ length or sleeveless styles this season for a trendy, modern look.

For skirts, choose a waistline that sits right above your hip bone and has an expandable waistband. This may be a hip-hugging style that ends right below your baby bump; you can then wear a longer tunic top or flowy top over it for a balanced look. Just make sure you can sit comfortably in this style, and keep the length to above-the-knee for a classy and stylish look.

If you want to wear jeans or cropped pants this season, avoid styles that are too loose and baggy around your hips and thighs. Your most flattering cut will be a pair of boot cut or wide leg jeans that are slightly fitted around your thighs. Another option is a pair of tie-waist denim shorts. Make sure the waistband sits right below your baby bump for extra comfort, and stick with looser tops with a v-neck or square-neck cut to balance out your figure.

For tops, your best bet is a fitted top with a shirred waistline. These shirts are especially flattering for moms-to-be with large baby bumps, because they draw attention to your middle but also accentuate your upper body.

There are plenty of ways to show off that baby bump and look great during those last stages of pregnancy; a few tweaks of your wardrobe with just the right pieces can help you create the ultimate figure-flattering look!

Celebrity Gossip: Maxim Magazine puts out List of 100 Hottest Women of 2009!

May 27, 2009 by Tiffany B

According to Maxim magazine, actress Olivia Wilde is the hottest woman of 2009. The House actress came in at number 1 on the magazine's annual Hot 100 list. The magazine goes through thousands of pictures of actresses, athletes, singers, and models and comes up with a yearly list of the top 100 hottest women. The other top five women on the list consisted of Megan Fox, Bar Refaeli, Malin Akerman, and Mila Kunis. Some other notable women who made the list are Britney Spears (#17), Angelina Jolie (#26), Vanessa Hudgens (#27), Penelope Cruz (#30), and Rihanna (#8).

For all you One Tree Hill fans, you may be missing your favorite couple next year. Actor Chad Michael Murray who plays Lucas and Hilarie Burton who plays Peyton will not be coming back next season. The rumors have it that Chad Michael Murray was asking for too much money and the show executives could not work out a contract with them. With Hilarie it was a storyline in the show that caused her contract not to be renewed for next season. I wonder how much longer One Tree Hill will be on the air, since two of the main characters are leaving and that spells doom many times for television shows.

Hayden Panettiere must really like the older men. Although she is only 19 years old, she seems to go for guys who are at least 10 years older than her. She was last linked to her Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia, 31, and has no moved on to 31-year-old Steve Jones. The couple were seen in London eating dinner together and then attended a house party later that night together. Jones is a popular British TV personality. He has dated several other actresses and Hollywood celebs such as Halle Berry and Pamela Anderson. I guess Hayden is just mature for her age or really has a thing for dating men in their 30's.

Celebrity Gossip: Katherine Heigl Returns to Grey's Anatomy

May 25, 2009 by Stephanie Sims

Big news for Grey's fans! Despite the ever-circulating rumors, it's been confirmed that Katherine Heigl is returning to Grey's Anatomy! Or, maybe this isn't such good news for you, since several fans are over Heigl's "too-good-for-the-show" attitude. What do readers think? Because like it or not, her BFF T.R. Knight might be off the show, but Izzy will return next season. No word for how many seasons though, so rumors could recirculate yet again at the season's end.

Other news has also surfaced, but it's yet to be confirmed. Twilight's Robert Pattison and Kristin Stewart have been photographed going out together with just the two of them...without their Twilight entourage. Rumors came out swirling even stronger when Stewart's supposed boyfriend, actor Michael Angarano, was photographed biking solo and looking rather sullen. But again, this hasn't been confirmed and no one knows for sure if Pattison and Stewart are dating - he's also been photographed making out with a newly divorced Emilie de Ravin at a beach in Hollywood.

Hollywood is the setting for *Lauren Conrad*'s new book, L.A. Candy, which she promoted on The View on Thursday, June 18. But she didn't really promote the book though. Instead, she further confirmed that The Hills is absolutely a scripted and staged show. Turns out that *Spencer Pratt*'s apologetic phone call to Conrad was fake, and she wasn't on the other end of the line. We can't really say that we were too surprised, though...

Evolution of Clothing: Easy, Breezy, Island Capris

May 25, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Capri pants are many things all at once: chic, sexy, fashionable and comfortable. The basic Capri style, attributed to Sonja de Lennart has not changed much, but how and where we wear our Capris has, thanks to Audrey Hepburn, Mary Tyler Moore, Stockard Channing and Uma Thurman.

European fashion designer Sonja de Lennart debuted her Capri Collection in 1945, and it included skirts, pants and blouses. Three years later she modified the Capri pants to make them tighter, and in turn sexier. She shortened the pants to the familiar three-quarter length, just below the knee that is common today. The original version even had the small slit up the outside of the material.

Fashion and film icon Audrey Hepburn breezed around in a pair of Capri pants with ballet flats in the 1954 movie Sabrina. More than five decades later, Capris paired with ballerina flats still work. The style was popular as resort wear in the 1950s, although the pants continued to evoke sex appeal on screen.

American women traded in their skirts for Capris in the mid-1960s thanks in no small part to Mary Tyler Moore. As Laura Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show, Moore was given credit by Time Magazine for having made Capri pants "the biggest trend in U.S. casual attire," while at the same time the sponsors of the TV show reported that American women were not thrilled by the site of Mary Tyler Moore in the skin-tight pants.

Capris were the pants of choice for top Pink Lady Rizzo in 1978's Grease starring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. Stockard Channing's signature look included her Pink Ladies coat with black Capri pants.

The Capri pants also caused a sensation when Uma Thurman wore them in the dark Quentin Tarantino film, Pulp Fiction, in 1994.

Today's Capri pants can be worn in the office, on holiday or for exercise. This style of pants is ideal for showing off the latest sandals, flats or wedged shoes of your collection.

Room Makeovers: Jazz Up the Abode with Nouveau Riche Style

May 23, 2009 by Sabah K.

Despite the recession, this season's top interior decorating trends are centered around the opulent and dramatic. 'Tis the season for metallics, sequins and over-the-top decadence from the living room to the bedroom, so it's time to trade those boho chic accessories and simplistic style for some rich and bold pieces that will have you basking in luxury. From sequined pillows to rich silk drapes, here are some essential room accessories to help you jazz up your living space and create a nouveau-riche ambiance:

1. Regal bedding. This season's top trends include black with metallic gold and silver threads, and contrasting prints in magenta, brown, blue and green. Stick with darker colors in bedding for a sophisticated and modern look; you can always lighten up the rest of the room with neutral-colored accents and accessories.

2. Silk drapes. Dress up the window treatments with some pastel-colored silk drapes trimmed with ruffles or layers of fabric. This is a simple way to create a feeling of grandeur and regality for any room, and you can find the style in a variety of colors.

3. Bronze and gold vases. Liven up the room with bronze, gold or copper-colored vases that will add a stylish touch to the space. Look for matte colors that won't turn into the focal point of the room, but will enhance black or brown furnishings instead.

4. Sequined pillows. Sequins and glitter are a top trend on the fashion front this Spring and summer, and you can transfer this trend to the living room or bedroom with a handful of toss pillows covered with sequined covers. Look for modern, geometric designs and rich contrasting colors to turn these into the focal point of the room.

5. Black and white sculptures. The black and white color combination is powerful and eye-catching, and will easily add some drama to your living space. Pick up one or two large sculptures in black and white that will serve as a striking centerpiece.

From regal bedding ensembles to sequined throw pillows, it's time to flaunt the style of the nouveau riche and embrace all things luxury. Pick out any or all of these accents to dress up your humble abode with a fresh, modern twist.

Style It!: Make Your Afternoon Outfit Change to Evening Wear

May 23, 2009 by Lee S.

Dressing stylishly is about much more than the perfect pair of jeans, although that's a great place to start. It's about putting the right pieces together to make a great outfit that can go from one setting to another with only a couple of changes, and the right accessories.

Let's start with shopping and lunch with your girlfriends. These great jeans are 7 for All Mankind high waist boot cut jeans in a stretch denim with dark wash, designed to flatter your figure, and to be fashion forward while making a nod to fashion's past. Top it with this chic tie neck A-line top in a dark sapphire from BCB Generation.

Add a funky jacket like this Gaultier in off-white that curves in to the waist and flares out to the bottom back. The double floret button front adds to its appeal, as do the puffed sleeves. Yes, it's shorter than the top - that's OK. The perfect day shoes are ankle boots from Charlie One Horse by Lucchese with a cushioned insole and a two and a half inch heel. Make this outfit really pop with this Damascus Satchel in a spring-time violet, with enough room for wallet, shades, and even a bottle of water.

To change this outfit for an evening out with your significant other, just switch to a Robert Rodriguez jacket in Carbon, with a two button closure and shawl collar that lets the lovely neckline of your top be seen. The three-quarter inch sleeves are accented with double buttons for an extra touch of style. Change your shoes for evening to a pair of sexy gladiator sandals from Promiscuous, in black patent. The final touch? These feminine and oh-so-sexy marcasite and pearl drop earrings from Judith Jack. Keep the satchel because it adds that touch of brightness that gets you noticed.

Styling it is not that hard, you just need the right pieces with great accessories, and you too can be runway ready!

Gossip: Hollywood Couples Break-up, Make-up & Cheat

May 22, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

Fickle celebrity hearts are fluttering this week with break-ups, make-ups and the inevitable cheating heart. Last week, reality TV star Jon Gosselin was accused of cheating on Kate, his wife and mother of his eight kids. According to People magazine, he was quick to deny these accusations, claiming that mystery woman Deanna Hummel is just a "female friend." It seemed like the accusations of infidelity might be put to rest, but alas - it seems like Jon may have been less than honest. New pictures and video have emerged online, including one picture of Ms. Hummel sunbathing in a bikini on his lawn while Kate was away. The most damning evidence, however, is a video taken of Jon apparently leaving Ms. Hummel's house around 7:00 a.m. The strangest thing yet? While everyone else, including Jon, Ms. Hummel, her brother and his friends, have spoken out about the "affair," Kate Gosselin has yet to say a word. Now, if he weren't cheating, wouldn't she want to clear her husband's name?

The world's most famous on-again, off-again lover Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, seem to be on again (at least for the time being). Although she's been seen spending the night at her (ex?)girlfriend's house, neighbors say they scream at each other almost non-stop, according to the Daily Mail. I could be wrong, but it seems yet another break-up is in the works for LiLo and her DJ gal pal.

Poor Elizabeth Edwards appeared on The Oprah Winfrey show this week to talk about her husband John Edwards highly-publicized affair. According to People magazine, Elizabeth, who threw up when first confronted with the news of her husband's affair, is still trying to make it work. This is due in large part to John Edwards support as Elizabeth battles cancer. However, when Oprah asked her if she still loved her husband, her answer was less than clear. "You know, that's a complicated question."

Did you ever wonder why seemingly-happy couple Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crowe split? Turns out, it was just a matter of timing. In a new book, Lance opens up about their relationship, claiming it was not unhappiness but her biological clock which caused the split right around her 44th birthday. "She wanted marriage; she wanted children; and not that I didn't want that, but I didn't want that at that time because I'd just gotten out of a marriage, I'd just had kids." It's good to see that at least one Hollywood couple parted on good terms.

Building a Wardrobe in Your 20's : Transition Your Teen Wardrobe to a Young Adult Wardrobe

May 22, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

As you transition from teenager to young adult your wardrobe also needs to transition. This transition is best done gradually as opposed to being done in one big shopping spree. To keep your transitional wardrobe affordable you will want to buy pieces here and there as your teen clothes wear out or need replacing.

Transitional Shoe Wardrobe

The first items that will most likely be upgraded from teen styles to young adult styles are your shoes. As a teen you can get away with wearing crazy footwear and more casual footwear. However, as you enter the job market you will need footwear that will be appropriate for your work environment. This means that if you are working in an office that you will need to wear dress shoes and that if you are working in a mechanics shop that you wear tough leather boots or shoes to protect your feet.

In addition to purchasing work appropriate shoes you will also need to mature your socializing shoes, or your party shoes. As a teen you probably wore low heels or flats if you are a girl and tennis shoes if you are a boy. While these shoes are still okay for social situations, as you enter your early to mid-twenties you will want to buy more mature looking shoes such as pointy toe high heels for women and loafers for men.

Transitional Clothing Wardrobe

Like your shoe wardrobe, your clothing wardrobe also needs to mature as you do. As a teen your clothing most likely focused primarily on casual wear. As a young adult you will want to mature the look by adding a few structured pieces like a fitted jacket, slacks and a basic suit. Since you are still young you will want to avoid pieces that are too mature or stoic looking, you will want to focus on pieces that perhaps have a funkier color or that have a younger cut to the piece. For example, young women can buy a fitted jacket in jewel tone as opposed to a black or navy jacket that is cut shorter in the body than a traditional suit jacket. Here the fit will be critically important to the overall professionalism of the item.

Office Style: Shoe Report for Cubicle Dwellers

May 21, 2009 by Sabah K.

Does your office wardrobe need a refresher for the season? Start with the shoes, and you can transform your office ensemble in a snap! This season's hottest trends in shoes include Mary Janes, platform heels and cute flats; all of these styles can be incorporated into your office look, and might even do double-duty for semi-casual days on the weekend. These shoes are versatile, sassy and comfortable; they're the perfect match for the stylish cubicle dweller.

This season's Mary Janes are best worn as a platform heel or flat. Skip the cone heel completely for the office, and pick up a comfortable pair of patent leather Mary Janes with a more versatile heel. Look for bright and bold reds, greens, and blues if you want a fun and playful touch on casual Friday, and stick with the basic black or brown for the rest of the week. Mary Janes work well with both pants and skirts, so you can look forward to wearing them through this season and beyond.

Need to add some height? Skip the stilettos and skinny heels in favor of some platform heels instead. Platforms are back for another season, but you need to wear just the right style and color for the office. Skip the bold and vibrant hues in favor of neutral shades for your office wardrobe; all-black, grey and brown styles are your best picks for the office ensemble, because these attract plenty of attention in their own right. Platforms are also super comfortable, so you can get that height without giving your calves a major workout.

If you're sticking with the ballet flats this season, look for a pair in bold, eye-popping candy colors or covered in a polka dot or plaid design. Flats can be the focal point of your wardrobe, and work out great with capris, a knee-length skirt or a summer dress. They're also perfect for the office maven on-the-go; you won't have to lug around two pairs of shoes if you need to run errands in the city when you're sporting a pair of versatile and comfortable flats.

From Mary Janes to flats, you have several options for comfortable and versatile shoes for the office. Take your pick of any of these styles to complement your chic and sassy office ensemble!

May 21, 2009 by Sabah K.

Coverups, loose flowy dresses and long bandeau-style gowns are the top picks from the fashion front this Spring, so now is the time to stock up on the bold and bright prints and hues of the season and undergo your very own seasonal makeover. This season's top trends in the dress department include oversized floral designs, frock-style sundresses and splashes of color from the tropics. Whether you're a strapless dress loving diva or just want to show off your tan in a minidress, here are some of your best picks in dresses this Spring:

Gauzy Sundress
Leave it to Tommy Bahama to lead the way in one of the coolest looks of the season; the semi-sheer Burned Out Dress is the perfect swim cover-up or the dress you can lounge in when you're off on a cruise. It's designed with a burnout weave and leafy print gauze pattern, and the loose fit and lightweight material make it a great match for almost all body types.

Strapless Denim Dress
Yes, you can get away with denim this Spring, so long as it's part of a dress. Lightweight denim cut with a tube-top style bandeau or ruching across the chest is the perfect spring/summer ensemble for those carefree days of shopping sprees, relaxing on the beach or just for enjoying a few cocktails on the patio. It's easily paired with superwedge heels or espadrilles; the perfect summer look!

The Bandeau Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are back for yet another year, and this is the season to deck yourself out in bold, tropical hues. The maxi dress is suitable for almost all body types and the more flowing fabric, the better. Get yours in a vibrant turquoise, green, orange and purple combo to be the ultimate showstopping ensemble.

The Halter Ruffled Dress
The halter dress designed with a tier of ruffles is the ultra-feminine look of the season, and a great way to make a fashion statement at the next social get-together. Just pin up your hair in a chic bob or updo and enjoy life in the glamorous lane!

The Classic Jersey Dress
A simple, chic jersey dress will keep you looking sharp on those weekend errands and is a great piece to throw into your weekend travel bag. Comfortable, soft and oh-so-versatile, this one's a must for your spring and summer ensemble.

From the Runway to Your Closet: Classic Black and White

May 21, 2009 by Tiffany B

One of the hottest looks on the fashion runways for this summer was the classic black and white look. The black and white combination has been a classic look for quite some time, but it was seen all over the runways for summer 2009. It is one of those fashion trends that is classic but has its popular and not-so popular times.

The black and white look is actually one of the easier runway trends to pull off for the everyday woman. This is true, because it is a classic look and almost every woman has a piece of clothing that is white or black.

If you want to try to fit in with this fashion trend and keep it modern, then opt for pieces of clothing that are both black and white instead of layering a black and white piece. Fashion designers are really getting into this trend making dresses, shirts, handbags and even shoes that are black and white.

You can keep this look more casual, like this black and white shirt from Paul Smith or you can go for a night on the town look with this Just Cavalli dress. This fashion trend is one that will work for both casual and dressier occasions.

If you are not liking the patterns of the black and white look, then you can always achieve this look using the separates. Pair a black blouse with a white belt. Or take the black blouse and pair it with a pair of white trousers and a white scarf. You can even incorporate this look with your jewelry. If you find that you are wearing all black, try a beaded white necklace or look for a necklace or bracelet that is black and white.

The black and white fashion trend is one that will be a classic style, so you don't have to worry about spending some money on your clothing or accessories and only wearing them for a couple of months. Instead, splurge on a great piece that will have you ranking high on the fashion meter and you can strut your stuff like you are on the runways.

Celebrity Gossip: Lindsay Lohan Shows off her New Swimwear at the Beach

May 20, 2009 by Racheline M.

Lindsay Lohan might not be great on a surf board, as demonstrated by photos recently posted by gossip site TMZ, but she sure does look good getting wiped out by a wave. Wearing a black monokini, Lohan gives us a look at what has become one of the hottest swim wear trends.

Why wear a monokini? Aside from providing slightly more coverage than a bikini, having the cutaways on the side creates a slimming effect by making your waist look narrow. The bold shape of the suit also creates visual distraction, hiding problem areas while also helping enhance or create the look of an hourglass figure.

Monokinis are also great choices for active beach going. They're much more secure for swimming or even surfing than many bikinis. So what should you look for in a monokini? First, it's important to understand your own body shape. Monokini's come with a variety of different cut-outs along the torso, and you need to choose the right style for your body shape.

For top-heavy women looking to balance out their silhouette, Volcom offers a suit that really emphasizes the hips. While it wouldn't work on a pear shaped figure, it's perfect for creating balance for bustier gals. For those with a straight torso that want to add some curve, this Dolce & Gabana suit does a great job of emphasizing the waist and enhancing your curves, while this safari suit from O'Neill uses a v-shape to emphasize the bust and shoulders, effectively balancing out figures that are more hip heavy.

Asymmetrical cut-outs are also all the rage, but they won't hide figure flaws in the same way as the center band monokinis. They're also usually not as secure for swimming and better suited to sunning. With that in mind, don't forget to consider the tan-lines that monokinis produce and how they may or may not go with the rest of your summer attire.

Have fun at the beach, and may you have better luck with the waves than Lindsay Lohan!

Celebrity Gossip: Celebrity Love is on the Rocks This Spring; Plus, Chris Brown Tries to Squirm Out of Assault Charges Against Rihanna

May 19, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

In the crazy world of celebrities, this week is all about love gone wrong and legal misadventures. According to People magazine, Jon and Kate of TV's Jon & Kate Plus Eight are fending off new rumors that their marriage is on the rocks, after Jon was spotted out with an alleged female "friend" late one evening. Although he claims it was strictly platonic, he released a statement apologizing profusely for his "poor judgment." Seems dealing with their eight kids has Jon a little confused.

Actor Sean Penn also filed for divorce this week from his wife of thirteen years, actress Robin Wright Penn. Although the couple has started and stopped divorce proceedings before, it looks like this time it will stick: Penn was seen with model Petra Nemcova during the separation. The couple are seeking joint custody of their two children, daughter Dylan, 18, and son Hopper, 15. And Mel Gibson, who is in the middle of a divorce, has wasted no time moving on to the woman of his (mid-life crisis) dreams. He showed up at the Wolverine premiere with his Russian lover, Oksana Grigorieva, 39. At the premiere, Gibson looked much older than his fifty-three years. I suppose the end of a 28-year marriage, having seven kids and going crazy will do that to you.

In legal news, singer and alleged woman-beater Chris Brown is trying to get the assault charges against him dismissed in the vicious beating of singer (and quasi ex-girlfriend) Rihanna. The reason for his attempt at a dismissal? Not that he didn't do it, or that there's not sufficient evidence - he's trying to get the charges dropped because of the leaked photo showing the bloody and battered face of Rihanna after the incident. Say what?

That's the low-down on the top celebrity gossip this week. From infidelity to Gibson's younger Russian lover, celebrity news just goes to show you that some things never change.

A trip to Malaysia is not complete without spending some time in its largest city, Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur's origins came about due to tin mining in the mid nineteenth century. Slowly different communities from around Asia began to trickle in and now it is relatively cosmopolitan, with people from many different origins.

There are many different sights to visit in Kuala Lumpur, so you'll want to be centrally located in order to be close to the action. The Ascott Residence in Kuala Lumpur is one of the most prestigious and lavish hotels in all of Malaysia, particularly Kuala Lumpur. The Ascott Residence is located in the Central Business District, right at the hub of the city. From there you'll have access to the local public transportation and an abundance of taxis to take you all across the city. With all the walking you will do in the city, be sure to bring a good pair of shoes to support your tired feet.

Accommodation at the Ascott Residence is all extremely modern with every amenity a tourist would need. Most accommodations take the form of private apartments that are fully furnished. You'll have the choice of small one bedroom apartments to full fledged suites.

The facilities on the premise is also extremely lavish. They include a spa, Jacuzzi, gym, steam room, room service, sauna, lounge, concierge service, 24-hour security, and more. You'll always be offered personalized service as well as tourist information about the local places to see and visit.

The restaurant at the Ascott Residence in Kuala Lumpur is well known to serve delicious food to its guests. While you'll have access to the amazing restaurant on site at the hotel, you'll also be able to step outside to dine at restaurants offering a huge variety of different cuisines.

So if you're interested in getting away from the serene vistas, or from the beach, and taking the time to tour through the complex city of Kuala Lumpur, the Ascott Residence is the perfect spot for you to kick up your feet after a long day of sight seeing.

Celebrity Gossip: Salma Hayek Ties the Knot for the Second Time This Year

May 18, 2009 by Sabah K.

Salma Hayek has officially tied the knot (for the second time) with French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, and the beautiful wedding took place in Venice, Italy on April 25, 2009. The couple exchanged vows at La Fenice, one of Venice's historic opera houses. Valentina, the couples' 19-month-old-daughter, played her part as the flower girl, and Francois-Henri's son and daughter, ages 10 and 8, helped with the ceremonies. Over 150 guests attended this celebrity wedding, and the VIP guest list included the likes of Charlize Theron, France's former President Jacques Chirac, Penelope Cruz, Anna Wintour and Woody Harrelson.

The theme of this fabulous event was even more romantic with the 'The Carnival in Venice' masked ball; guests were asked to dress head to toe in black, and sport a gold mask as soon as they arrived at the gates. Salma Hayek arrived in a beautiful navy and blue gown and a pair of criss-cross strap stiletto sandals. The ball took place in an historic courtyard, a place that was once used as a trading spot and marketplace by merchants during the 15th century. It was a grand event that gave guests a chance to have fun and dance under the stars.

Interestingly enough, this was the couple's second wedding celebration of the year. The first wedding took place over Valentine's Day in Paris, but Wedding Number Two was designed just for Italy and brought together the couple's closest family and friends for a fun adventure through Venice's most notable sights. The rehearsal dinner took place at the Punta Della Dogana, a regal building that guards the south entry of the Grand Canal in Venice.

People Magazine reports that this wedding cost nearly $2 million; Salma Hayek wore a stunning Balenciaga wedding gown by Nicholas Ghesquiere, and she carried a bouquet of orchids and stephanotis covered with crystals.

The couple's guests were given a grand tour of Italy the day they arrived, and were spotted all over the city doing some last-minute shopping, enjoying some classic Italian food at local eateries, and soaking up the sun. It was an extravagant and joyful weekend that gave both the wedding guests and the happy couple a chance to enjoy the best of beautiful Venice.

Wear This, Not That: How to Wear Fringe, Animal Prints and His Silky PJs

May 18, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Fringe Boots not Snow Boots
The practice of wearing winter accessories trends -- think scarves, winter hats -- in any weather continues, as knee-high fringe boots stomp onto the fashion scene. Winter hats and scarves have become fashion staples, even in warm climates. Fringe boots can be worn with shorts or skirts. These are not fringe boots with a line of fringe down the back of a Western-style boot a la Sloan in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. These are full-fringe, suede boots covered with layers of fringe.

Soft Shorts, not Hot Shorts
Put away the snug shorts and opt for a pair of softer shorts with fabric that drapes gently and does not constrict. Pair these with your favorite dressy tanks tucked into the shorts. Or wear a fitted shirt belted around the waist. The comfortable and dressy shorts help you be chic and maintain modesty at the next outdoor cocktail party, where you may find yourself sitting on low lawn chairs.

Look for shorts with pleats, of a similar length to a mini-skirt, fabricated in cotton blends or silk. These soft shorts are loose around the thigh.

Men's Silk PJ Pants, not Leggings
Let your skin breathe with a pair of loose, pajama-inspired silky pants. Women's fashions are borrowing from his wardrobe, again. Men's silk pajama tops can be worn with embellished skirts, or tailored shorts. This is not the peek-a-boo lingerie top style of the 90s. This look is about comfort and leisure. Wear a pair of satin pants, your favorite sandals and a fitted t-shirt or tank for shopping, a trip to the salon or a leisurely day of sipping iced tea on the sun porch with friends.

Safari
The animal print trend expands into full-fledged safari gear. Animal prints become more subtle and quieter. Neutral safari colors including taupe and moss green become chic when paired with a black and white leopard blouse or thin zebra belt.

Beauty Tips: Six Steps to a Sun-Kissed Look

May 16, 2009 by Sabah K.

You don't have to live in sunny territory to embrace a sun-kissed look this season, especially when you're armed with the right beauty gear. Bronzers, golden eyeshadow and lightweight foundation are the must-haves for creating that beach goddess look you crave, and it's easier than you think to get that just-got-back-from-an-island-vacation look. Here are six simple steps to getting that youthful glow for the season:

Step 1: Cover Up with Concealer
A lightweight concealer is a must for covering up blemishes and for evening out a ruddy complexion.

Step 2: Apply a Mattifying Foundation
Even though you want to up the shine factor for your summer look, a mattifying foundation will help you create a flawless and smooth finish. You can use a few makeup tricks (see below) to create some contours and add some shine with glitter and gloss.

Step 3: Use a Bronzer to Warm Up Your Look
Apply a dual bronzer powder to the apples of your cheeks and dot on your chin and nose to create some contours. A powder or cream bronzer will warm up your look in a flash, giving you a subtle, sun-kissed glow that will make people wonder where on earth you jetted off to over the weekend.

Step 4: Brighten Up the Eyes with a Golden Touch
Use a gold-based eye color and glimmer powder to add some shine to your lids. These are perfect for day or night, and you can intensify the color by adding a dab of moisturizer or Vaseline to the mix. Use these generously on your lids to enhance your sun-kissed look.

Step 5: Go for Nude Lips
When you're playing up your eyes, stick with a nude-colored lip gloss or lipstick to round out your look. If you do want to add a hint of color, go for pink or a light brown shade to complement the golds and browns on the rest of your face.

Step 6: Use a Translucent Finishing Powder
A light dab of translucent powder on your T-zone will keep shine at bay without flattening out your look. It's the perfect finishing touch!

From cream eyeshadow to nude lip gloss, you can pull off that sun-kissed look with a few simple tweaks to your makeup routine. Just follow these six steps to get a fun, fresh look for the warmer months ahead!

Handbag Report: Sensational Clutches for Summer

May 16, 2009 by Sabah K.

Warmer temperatures call for light summer dresses and a care-free look, which means it's time to ditch the heavy leather handbag and trade it out for a fun, stylish clutch. A clutch is the perfect accessory for the weekend barbecue, casual day at the office, or just to take along for your weekly errand runs.

This year's hottest trends include the oversized, envelope clutch style that can carry all your daily necessities and keep you looking stylish and organized. Here are some other top trends to keep an eye on this season:

1. The Slim Animal Print Clutch. Pick up a long and skinny clutch covered in a bold, eye-catching leopard print to heat up your look this season. These are perfect for carrying the basics; credit cards, ID and an iPhone, as you go about your busy day.

2. The Fan Clutch. Add a feminine, luxe twist to your ensemble with a satin or leather fan clutch embellished with metallic details. The Nite Fan Clutch by Stuart Weitzman is the perfect example of this showstopping look - it's perfect for those special social occasions.

3. The Patent Leather Clutch. Go matchy matchy with your patent leather heels by sporting a contrasting color patent leather clutch. These handbags are ideal for carrying your lipstick, cash and keys for a day of shopping. This season's hottest colors are bright green, pink, yellow and orange, but you can also stick with the basic black or white to complement any summer outfit with ease.

4. The Quilted Leather Clutch. Show off your love for leather with a soft and glossy quilted clutch. Look for styles with an oversized buckle or metallic embellishments to catch this season's trend wave. These are ideal for the office or weekend getaways; just tuck them under your arm to add a classy and stylish finishing touch to your ensemble.

5. The Patchwork Clutch. Add a Bohemian-inspired touch to your ensemble this season with a patchwork clutch covered in contrasting suede, leather or canvas details. The patchwork effect works best with a one-color outfit, and is a fun and playful look for day or night.

Clothing in Pop Culture: Watchmen

May 15, 2009 by Racheline M.

Superheroes and comic books have long been studied for their influence on fashion. But it's not the capes and the masks that made Watchmen so fashion-relevant. Rather it's the showcasing of looks from the 1980s, which have been slowly but surely making a revival over the last year.

While there had been much talk of updating the setting for Watchmen, it soon became clear there was no way to tell this story of an alternate mid-80s world filled with masked heroes, nuclear dread (not to mention a Richard Nixon who, thanks to the repeal of term-limits, keeps getting re-elected) without the 1980s backdrop.

The film uses both music and clothes to make sure everyone knows exactly what time period it's set in, even if the political landscape of the film is a bleak, alternate universe fantasy. From leggings and sweatshirt dresses to big hair and bigger earrings and giant shoulder pads, Watchmen takes place in both a past era and a time that never quite was.

It's also a great showcase of how we can borrow fashion ideas from the 1980s and make them work for the 21st century.

What was one of the great lessons of the 1980s? Men can and should wear color. Okay, maybe that bright purple jacket that Adrian Veidt wears is more than a little over the top, but vibrantly colored ties and dress shirts are definitely in right now. Forget about white collar or blue colors and look to burgundies, purple, dark greens and more.

For women, you can create a great 1980s look and still skip the legwarmers. Think brightly colored leggings under dresses, brightly colored high heels and bold patterns. If you wear eye glasses, consider owning more than one pair so you can have frames in multiple colors. And while blues and pinks were overused in makeup in the 80s, a hint of vivid color in your eye make-up can be fun to play with for evening looks.

Speaking of evening, the 1980s were all about metallics, and they're making a resurgence now. Look for cocktail dresses in silver, gold or copper, but be careful of some of the weirder 1980s silhouettes, which might not necessarily flatter every figure.

Celebrity Gossip: Miss California Carrie Prejean and Michael Phelps Dating?

May 15, 2009 by Tiffany B

This past week was not a good one for Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere, as her home was robbed this past week. The incident happened at her home in Los Angeles. A public official from the Los Angeles police department said, "The incident occurred between April 10 and 15 while she was out of town." TMZ.com is reporting that the thieves made off with $15,000 worth of jewelry from Hayden's home. The police department could not confirm the amount of stolen goods, but anything considered grand theft involves property worth $400 and above. The police report also indicated that their were no signs of a forced entry, which means this could have been an inside job or someone who is really good.

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is denying that he is dating Miss California Carrie Prejean. He told Usmagazine.com that "I'm not dating anybody." He also went on to say, "I'm single. My private life stays private." Prejean would not confirm if the couple was dating either, just saying that Phelps is "a great man." Prejean came under heat for speaking her actual opinion on The USA Competition when asked about what her belief in gay marriage was. Both Phelps and Prejean are playing coy about their relationship, be it friends or more.

If you have seen actress Lindsay Lohan lately, you can tell that she has lost weight, a lot of weight, and the girl didn't have much to lose. Experts are saying that Lohan is at a dangerous low weight of 95 pounds. At 5'5, the actress is definitely in the "scary skinny" category with only a BMI of 16. The actress would need to gain more than 10 pounds to put her back into a healthy weight for her height. The actress recently called off a relationship, which the weight loss may be attributed to. The latest photos of Lohan show her with her ribs sticking out of the side of her dress and she completely looks like she has absolutely no fat on her body. Hopefully, Lindsay sees the pictures and realizes that she needs help, as she just looks rather unhealthy.

Building a Wardrobe in Your in Your Teens

May 15, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

When building a wardrobe as a teenager there are several places that you can start. However, one of the best places to start is your shoe wardrobe. Shoes really complete your look, but they need to be as functional as they are fashionable. It is because of this that it is a good idea to buy specific shoes for specific activities.

Casual Shoes
The first shoes that you will want to add to your shoe wardrobe are casual use shoes. These shoes will generally be inexpensive and very basic in design and fashion. Canvas tie-up and slip on shoes work well as the staple of your casual shoe wardrobe. They are low cost so you don't have to worry if they get grass stains, muddy or damaged. You will use your casual shoes for activities like mowing the lawn and hanging around the house.

Athletic Shoes
The next type of shoes that you will want to invest in are athletic, or activity specific shoes. For example, if you skateboard you will want to purchase skateboarding shoes and if you dance then you will want to purchase dance shoes. You may also want to pick up shoes for hiking, walking on the beach and walking.

Dress Shoes/Fashion Shoes
The most fun category for shoe shopping is dress shoes and fashion shoes. These are the shoes in your wardrobe that make a statement. When selecting fashion shoes you will want to look for a style that compliments your personal style and the clothes that are in your wardrobe, and you will also want to look for special shoes that will update the overall look of your clothing wardrobe.

For example, teen girls can pick one pair of fashion shoes each season that are fashion forward for that season and that also compliments their existing seasonal wardrobe. This may mean buying a trendy pair of heels or a trendy pair of sandals. Teen boys can update the look of their wardrobe by finding a trendy pair of loafers or a trendy pair of sneakers. By adding the trendy shoes to your existing wardrobe you can update the look of your wardrobe without having to buy all new clothing.

Celebrity Gossip: Celebrities Using Twitter

May 13, 2009 by Tiffany B

Another celebrity is using Twitter to make an announcement. This time Limp Bizkit frontman, Fred Durst announced that the was engaged via Twitter. He wrote on his page, "Great news - I'm getting married to Esther Nazarov in July!!!! It's on!! Break out the bubbly!!" Durst also says that he is the "happiest man alive" and has never known love like this before. He also posted a picture of Neil Lane engagement ring that he proposed with. Durst, who has previously been linked with Britney Spears, already has two children, a teenage girl and a 7-year-old boy both from different relationships.

For any fans of The Hills, you may be happy to know that according to Lauren Conrad, Spencer finally comes clean and admits that he was the one that started the rumor about Lauren and her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler's tape. Apparently they even have Spencer on camera admitting that he started the rumor and there is no truth to it. The scene will air in a future episode, were Lauren says that "he takes responsibility and apologizes for it." It appears that MTV is pulling all the stops out for the last season, as Heidi and Spencer are said to be getting married this summer. So, you will have the Speidi wedding along with the tape confession. It basically ties up any loose ends for those that love the show.

Apparently the rumors about Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel have not put a damper on their relationship. The couple was spotted making out at the Los Angeles Lakers game on Tuesday night. The couple played it up for the JumboTron and Timberlake even pretended to mount Biel at one point. Could this all have been a ploy, especially since they were captured on the JumboTron for everyone to see? I guess only time will tell with them.

Evolution of Clothing: The Bikini

May 11, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Nothing says summer like the "b" word. Beach? Bathing suit? No, bikini! It feels modern, but the bikini first hit the scene in the 4th Century AD. Much like a photo from a beach-side volleyball tournament, the mosaic shows active women showing off their curves, while wearing high cut bottoms, and torsolettes, or strapless bandeaus. More modest bathing suits pushed the bikini out of view for centuries, only to bust back on the scene as the swimsuit of choice for women for the past five decades.

Flashback to the Victorian era, when women who ventured to the beach did everything they could to stay covered while entering the surf. Women even used bathing huts or bathing machines which transported them directly to the water, minimizing the time they would be seen in their swim clothes.

Thanks in part to Australian swimmer, Annette Kellerman, a more form-fitting one-piece maillot became acceptable swimwear on the eve of the Roaring '20s. No longer were women's curves washed away by bulky fabrics. The bathing suit went sleeveless and more and more thigh was being shown. In the 1930s, a feminine silhouette brought the hemline of swimwear up high on the thigh. The bathing suits were kept feminine looking, with a skirt bottom. This more modest look is still in vogue.

The modern day bikini we all know and love was invented by Louis Reard in 1946. Two-piece bathing suits hit the beach in the 1940s, thanks to Hollywood starlets. These precursors to the modern-day bikini combined halter tops and bottoms which were higher than the bellybutton.

As the decades progressed, the bikini shrunk. By the 1960s, the "Itsy Bitsy, Teenie Weenie, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" had arrived. By the mid-1960s, thanks in no small part to Ursula Andress and her white bikini, the bikini was a must for the beach. The 1970s, brought us string bikinis, made popular by Jaclyn Smith on Charlie's Angels, and model Cheryl Tiegs.

Celebrity Gossip: Time Magazines 100 Most Influential People Take Fashion Up a Notch

May 11, 2009 by Sabah K.

It was a black-tie event that brought together hundreds of famous faces to recognize the 100 most influential people from around the globe. Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People event was one of the biggest red carpet events of the year, and the chance for celebs to dress to the nines and show off their latest looks of the season.

Famous faces among the crowd included Barbara Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Stella McCartney, Clair Danes, Kate Hudson and Jimmy Fallon. What were some of the top fashion trends for this beautiful-people bash? Here's a rundown of the event's top looks:

Ruffles and Lace: Most celebrities were dressed in black from head to toe, but that doesn't mean there was anything boring or drab about their ensemble. Stars took their looks up a notch by sporting dresses trimmed with ruffles, lace and small bead accents. It was an elegant touch to an otherwise simple dress, and definitely a crowd-pleaser. These trim styles also add a feminine touch to suits, blazers and other masculine-inspired clothing.

Square-Neck Dresses: First Lady Michelle Obama was a guest at this event, and delivered a touching keynote speaking session as part of the festivities. She wore a beautiful floor-length gown designed with a square neck cut. It was the perfect fit for her figure, and one of the winning looks of the night.

Black and White Pinstripes: Pinstripes weren't reserved for the tuxedos and suits for this event. We caught signs of black and white stripes on skirts and blouses. It was a fresh, eye-catching look that was another winning ensemble for the night.

One-Shoulder Dresses: It's one of the season's hottest looks, and made its appearance several times on the red carpet at this celebrity event. The one-shoulder black dress trimmed with silver beads and lace is a show stopping look that won't be disappearing anytime soon. This type of dress doesn't require extra accessories either; many celebs just wore the dress without any accessories.

Draped Sleeves and Necklines: For celebs who wanted something simple and elegant, billowing sleeves and layered necklines helped create a chic and sophisticated look. The style is suitable for almost all figures, and showed up on dresses, blouses, and tunic tops.

Clothing in Film: Retro-Styles in Public Enemies

May 8, 2009 by Racheline M.

Public Enemies, the upcoming new film from Michael Mann about the battle between law enforcement and legendary gangsters of the 1930s, John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd is sure to be full of amazing retro-styles that will only reinforce the current trend towards styles inspired by the 1920s and '30s.

While we've been seeing a resurgence of fashion from this era for about a year now, in what has largely seemed like a comment on the current financial climate, a movie this big and this gorgeous looking (the previews are available on-line and are not to be missed), will probably make the look go mainstream.

So what is the look you're looking for if Public Enemies gets your fashion appetite going?

Men should think pinstripes. Additionally, suit silhouettes are fairly narrow, so overly built up shoulders will not be as popular. Finally, trousers are a bit fuller than the mod-inspired super skinny look that has been popular in suits for the last several years. And of course, you'll need a hat.

For women, flapper fashion is the easy, but not exclusive answer. Think short, simple and fringe. But the 1920s had lots of other style elements going on too, including art nouveau-inspired prints, fitting dresses that can be considered the predecessors to modern shirt dresses, and longer evening wear combining sheer fabrics and drape.

Fashion in the 1920s and 30s was a struggle between structure and casualness. For women, that means fewer restrictive undergarments, and outfits with more natural silhouettes. And while men were definitely in the three piece suit, this was still a simplification over earlier forms of attire. Of course, many of these looks would seem sharply formal to us today; after all this was an era in which a tuxedo was worn for informal dining (white tie still being necessary for truly formal occasions).

This era of gangsters and turmoil is a great influence if you're looking to put some formality and structure back into your wardrobe while still showcasing a bit of personal flair.

Celebrity Gossip: Grey's Anatomy - First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes Baby --

May 8, 2009 by Kelly H.

After three Grey's Anatomy weddings in quick succession, it stood to reason that the next change to the Grey's Anatomy family would concern a bouncing baby. Less than two years after Ellen Pompeo, Kate Walsh, and Katherine Heigl all walked down the aisle, where are these three Grey's Anatomy stars in their personal lives today?

Ellen Pompeo, star of the popular television drama, is pregnant, according to her publicist this weekend. Ellen Pompeo is married to music producer Chris Ivery, and this will be their first child together. People Magazine reports that Pompeo has already started shopping for baby gear!

Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery weren't the only couple to become newleyweds early in Grey's Anatomy's run. Also engaged during the same time period were Pompeo's co-stars Katherine Heigl (to musician *Josh Kelley*) and Kate Walsh (to movie executive *Alex Young*). The three co-stars each wed in 2007, with Walsh kicking off the wedding season in September, Pompeo following in November, and Heigl squeaking in before year's end in December.

Unfortunately, Kate Walsh's story doesn't seem to be ending with the addition of another family member, but the loss of one, instead. In fact, Kate Walsh (now starring in *Private Practice*) and her husband filed for divorce after just 15 months of marriage, in late 2008.

With two extremes, Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley have managed to continue their relationship without too much drama and stress—still married, but not hearing the pitter-patter of little feet just yet. Heigl's future on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Izzie Stevens continues to be up in the air, as the rest of the season's plotline remains hush-hush. With that and hectic schedules for both her and Kelley, it's likely that there won't be a baby for Heigl and Kelley just yet.

So, with three weddings in less than 4 months, the stars of Grey's Anatomy find themselves in markedly different situations—a divorce and a new television show for Kate Walsh, a busy work schedule and happy marriage for Katherine Heigl, and a baby on the way for Ellen Pompeo. At least the popular children's nursery rhyme appears to be ringing true for one of the celebrities in 2009.

Clothing in Film: The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency

May 6, 2009 by Racheline M.

HBO's new series The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is the story of a woman in Botswana who decides to open her own detective agency geared at serving those most in need. While she, and her small group of staff and friends, really have no idea what they are doing they manage to solve cases of all types from lost dogs to a medical malpractice situation involving twin brothers, one of whom is treating patients illegally, through a combination of cleverness, observation and luck.

The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is the first major film or television show to be filmed on location in Botswana and it's giving us not just a look at the country, but at it's fashions as well. A mix of modern styles that will seem perfectly familiar to most viewers and African dress, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency provides an interesting blueprint and influence for this year's spring and summer fashions with bright colors and large prints as options for both men and women.

Precious Ramotswe, played by American singer Jill Scott, exemplifies the modern woman in traditional dress and cotton clothes in geometric patterns. Ramotswe's clothes provide great fashion guidance not just because they're interesting, but because Ramotswe is a plus-sized woman. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency is so fashion forward in part because it reflects how average people with average physiques dress and look great.

Providing a contrast is Grace Makutsi played by Anika Noni Rose. High strung and deeply committed to the education she received at secretarial college, Rose's clothes reflect the struggles many women experience in the workplace: how do you look put-together, but also unique, while dressing comfortably enough to get your job done?

Whether you're looking for a way to make your office attire more interesting, or wanting to make a bold statement with your summer wardrobe The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency features ideas you might not have seen before, but are certainly easy to find in the form of bold print dresses, floral patterns and vividly hued outfits for the office.

Celebrity Gossip: America Idol Running its Course

May 6, 2009 by Tiffany B

American Idol judge Paula Abdul is hinting that this may be her last season as her contract will be up. So, does she think that the new judge Kara DioGuardi could replace her? Paula told ABC'S News Nightline that she didn't think that anybody could replace her. She also said that Kara tells her, "I could never replace you." She also goes on to say that she "loves the show," but it may be time for change. Abdul also says that she does get along with Kara and that there is absolutely no tension between Kara and her. I am actually wondering how much longer American Idol can survive, not just because Paula may be leaving, but it has been on for so many years and has run its course with not much left to do.

The Kardashians don't seem to be going away anytime soon. It was just announced that Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian are getting their own reality series on E! They can currently be seen on Keeping Up With the Kardashians while their new show Kourtney and Khloe in Miami will premiere in August 2009. The show will follow the sisters as they travel to Miami to open up another Dash boutique. Apparently the two try to focus on business but easily get sucked into the party life of South Beach. I'm not sure who told E! to make another reality series with the Kardashians, but one was really more than enough.

Could another walk down the aisle be coming soon for actress *Reese Witherspoon*? A source tells US that Reese and her boyfriend of two years Jake Gyllenhaal have never been happier. Jake made a toast to his girlfriend at the birthday party he threw for her saying, "she meant everything to him." An insider also goes on to tell US that "all of Reese's friends tell her they think he's The One. It's not a matter of if, but when. And when Jake asks, she will definitely say yes." Jake and Reese appear to be a down to earth couple who have found true love.

Celebrity Style: Bright Summer Colors

May 5, 2009 by Tiffany B

The warm weather is approaching and soon summer will be here. It seems that with summer comes bright colors. Celebrities have been seen wearing some brightly colored frocks lately, and not only clothes but accessories, like handbags and shoes.

Celebrities are welcoming the summer with quite a loud fashion trend. It appears that the days of neon and bright colors are back. But, don't start whipping out your 80's neon clothing just yet. These bright colors are being worn in updated and modern ways that look nothing like the neon days of the 80's. Singer Ashanti even told OK Magazine, that she rearranges her closet when spring and summer rolls around. She told the magazine that "I love all of this season's bright colors."

A lot of celebrities have been rocking this trend with the bright shoes. Fergie was seen wearing bright orange shoes with her white dress on the red carpet. The shoes definitely gave her outfit the pop of color it needed to add interest. Other celebrities that have been sporting the bright shoes are Nicky Hilton, Mariah Carey, and Eva Longoria Parker. If you want to keep your bright colors simple this season, then you may want to stick with bright shoes to add the pop of color. Try these neon pink shoes by Juicy Couture.

Other celebrities are going full force on the bright color fashion trend and are sporting clothing that definitely stands out. Kate Moss paired a bright pink long tunic with her black leggings. While Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen went the opposite route and paired a bright pink mini-skirt with a black top and leather jacket. Other celebrities that are standing out in their bright clothing are Paris Hilton, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Fergie, Demi Moore, and Vanessa Hudgens.

If you don't want to draw that much attention to yourself but you want to stay in fashion, then try adding bright colored accessories to your outfit. As mentioned before, shoes can help liven up an otherwise boring outfit, but you can also wear jewelry with bright colors or carry a handbag that is brightly colored. The possibilities are endless with this fashion trend.

Celebrity Gossip: Dating Secrets of Twilight Stars

May 4, 2009 by Kelly H.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner...just hearing the names has teenage boys and girls (and some of their moms) swooning. Since taking the leading roles in the film adaption of *Stephenie Meyer*'s Twilight series, Pattinson, Steward and Lautner have suddenly been thrust into the celebrity limelight. Along with the recent release of the film Twilight on DVD, it's upcoming release on Blu-Ray, and the filming of New Moon, the second book in the four book series, these popular celebrities have been busy lately. But many a teenager still wants to know: are they making time for a personal life?

Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who plays the vampire lead Edward Cullen, has been the object of much dating speculation in recent months. Rumors have swirled around the 23 year old Pattinson and his dating habits. Unfortunately for him (though fortunately for Pattinson's fan base) the star is still single and keeping busy with work. In a recent interview with People Magazine, co-star Kristen Stewart de-bunked rumors that she and Pattinson were dating. He also told interviewers in December that he wasn't currently out searching for a girlfriend. Breathe easy girls, Robert Pattinson isn't taken just yet.

Rumors around Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are twice as funny when you realize that Stewart is already spoken for. Stewart has been dating Michael Angarano since 2007 and the couple are still spotted together when their schedules allow. Though the couple are together, she was seen celebrating her 19th birthday with co-stars recently, as the day coincided with the filming of New Moon.

After Pattinson and Stewart, fans are swooning for Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black in the Twilight film series. Lautner, just 16 years old, has been seen out and about in society lately, mostly socializing with co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, as well as Nikki Reed. Luckily for fans, it appears that Lautner, like Pattinson, hasn't been spoken for just yet.

These Twilight stars are expected to stay in the spotlight over the next few months as they finish filming New Moon and look forward to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Hopefully Kristen Stewart's relationship with Michael Angarano will continue to flourish, and Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will find someone who strikes their fancy.

Celebrity Gossip: Rumors Swirl Around Brangelina

May 1, 2009 by Kelly H.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are no strangers to rumors and media attention. This superstar couple first gained media attention when they got together following Brad Pitt's publicized split from Jennifer Aniston. Now regular targets of the paparazzi and often gracing the covers of supermarket magazines and tabloids, much of the attention showered on Brangelina relates to their rapidly expanding brood.

US Weekly, Entertainment Weekly, People Magazine, and Pittwatch have all had a close watch on the couple and their family lately, as rumors have started to gather momentum. Recent rumors sprouted around Jolie and Pitt concerning the addition of a new family member. When a report circulated last week that Jolie had fainted on the set of the movie she's filming, it quickly fueled rumors that the couple might be preparing to welcome a new addition. US Weekly reports, however, that Angelina Jolie's rep has brushed off these stories, saying that she never fainted.

Rumors of another baby were also fueled with a whirlwind of adoption questions. With a family comprised of both adopted and biological children, the Jolie-Pitts have made no secret of their love of international adoption and their desire for a large family. However, People Magazine reports that recent adoption rumors are without basis, so if Brangelina are considering another addition to the family less than a year after the arrival of the twins Vivienne and Knox, they're still managing to keep it under wraps.

Though there seems to be no merit to stories concerning an expanding Jolie-Pitt brood, the couple has certainly been spotted enjoying the six children they've already got. With recent press about trips to the Shop and Stop and photos of regular dad Pitt dropping off the kids at school, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt might not be planning to add another child to their family yet, but they certainly seem intent on making their high-profile partnership work and keeping the kids as down-to-earth as possible

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are certainly no strangers to rumors and media attention. In this case, however, rest assured that the Jolie-Pitt's clan is set to remain at 8 for just a little while longer. However, speculation seems certain to continue to swirl around Angelina, Brad and their large family.
