Most Posh Hotels and Spas in the World: Lapa Palace Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal

Jun 30, 2009 by E.A. Anne

Sadly, Portugal is often overlooked by travelers in Europe. It is a country with a lot to offer its visitors, and I highly recommend it if you have time in your schedule. Portugal has some of the most amazing castles in the world, so castle-lovers should not miss the opportunity to take a tour. Destinations are all accessible from Lisbon, the center of Portugal.

Lapa Palace is one of the most exquisite hotels in all of Lisbon, Portugal. Now a hotel, the Palace was originally built in 1870 as the private home of the Count of Valencas. It is located in one of the most prestigious areas of Lisbon, right on a hill overlooking the romantic Tagus river. If you stay in the capital, try to stay at the Palace Wing's Tower Room—probably the most excellent in the entire palace. This room is the uppermost tower of the palace and has a private terrace that overlooks the Tagus river. There are a variety of other luxurious rooms positioned throughout the palace grounds, all of which are decorated beautifully and contain modern amenities.

For those of you looking to use the time in Portugal to relax and indulge, Lapa Palace is the perfect destination. La Prairie is the Spa at Lapa Palace and offers quite a range of treatments for guests. The most decadent of all these treatments is probably the caviar firming treatment—this skin treatment is designed to leave your face perfectly smooth and healthy. La Prairie also offers a host of other skin and body treatments, including an assortment of massages.

While La Prairie Spa is a definite must for guests looking for relaxation, not everyone will want to spend their days in Lisbon inside the palace walls. For those looking to explore the vast city and areas around Portugal, the Palace is ideally located. The friendly concierge will help all travelers organize their excursions, and even offer certain travel packages. Lisbon also contains some of the best culinary delights, so talk with the concierge for restaurant recommendations. For those nights on the town, make sure to pack some stylishly hip shoes to adorn your feet.

Celebrity Style Mashup: Hot and Cold - Vanessa Hudgens and Jennifer Aniston

Jun 30, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Vanessa Hudgens and Jennifer Aniston are on opposite sides of the rainbow. Vanessa Hudgens shines in her cool colors, particularly teals, blue-greens and purple hues. Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand, looks best when she's wearing Bohemian, and warm earth hues, including peachy orange.

You might lean towards one color hue more than the other, depending on your skin tone, hair color and personal preferences. Try on colors worn well by both women, to see if you are more warm or cool, or more Jennifer than Vanessa.

Warm Jennifer
Jennifer Aniston can opt for lighter neutrals in her wardrobe. Her highlighted hair and freshly-tanned skin go best with warm colors. A pair of strappy espadrilles, in orange or light tan, would pair well with a white peasant skirt or a pair of khaki shorts and bikini top while at the beach.

While the vibrant and natural beauty Jennifer Aniston can also wear some cooler colors, including pink and light blue, she looks dazzling in champagne, gold, warm peachy pinks, and burnt yellows.

Cool Vanessa
Cool Vanessa Hudgens, with her raven locks, dark eyes and natural glow looks best in cool colors. A sweet, multi-colored dress with turquoise, purple and greens is the start of a spot on Vanessa Hudgens outfit. Add a padlock bag with a short strap in a color matching one in the dress, and a matching cardigan for the evening. Blueberry blue, apple green, bone white and black are all part of Vanessa Hudgens' cool star power.

Vanessa Hudgens, similar to Jennifer Aniston, can also go Bohemian, as long as the colors are bright, bold and patterned. She can easily pull off a pair of bright blue boots, gigantic white sunglasses and matching accessories.

Both stars do minimal well, when they stay within their best colors, and add to-die-for shoes and handbags.

Wear This, Not That: Give Yourself a New Look

Jun 29, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Brighten up your style with a bold mini, studs, new booties and combination of metallics for a new look.

Bright Bottoms not Neutral Skirts
There is a certain sports drink company known for its black and white commercials featuring the products in color. This same look, featuring a brightly colored miniskirt and neutral top and accessories is au courant. Pair a cute and colorful mini, in a solid color or a pattern with gray, black, white or tan shoes, top and bag. Keep jewelry neutral rather than using colors from the skirt.

Sculptured Shoulders not Bare
A more sculptured shoulder padding is back from the past, specifically the 1980s. More emphasis will be on shoulder and upper arm portion of jackets and tops, with less design at the midsection than has been seen in recent fashion seasons.

Get Your Booties On
A pair of booties will balance out the boulder shoulder look, giving women a new reason to buy this season's bootie styles. New booties come in faux animal materials. Faux booties are also being seen on pumps with bootie-like backs.

Studs on Clothes, Not on Arms
Gals, leave the boy toys at home and wear studs on your clothes instead. Studded clothing brings a rocker edge to any look. Studs are popping up on jeans, jackets, purses and shoes. Studded shoes are available in heels for an extra burst of attitude, or opt for a more subtle edge with studded flats.

Silver and Gold Together
Rather than fret over the silver vs. gold as an accessory choice, the new choice to make is both. Find accessories made with both gold and silver colors. Metallics are not out yet, but it is time to mix them up in new ways. Try bronze with silver, or pewter and gold. Remember, all that shines is not real gold, it could be faux and you will look just as fashionable.

Celebrity Gossip: Lindsay Lohan is Getting a Reality Show?

Jun 29, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

For starters, like a bad penny that keeps turning up, attention starved former-superstar Lindsay Lohan is reportedly in talks with Ryan Seacrest to pen a reality show about the troubled starlet's life. While details are sketchy at present, Seacrest has Twittered on his blog that this is the sort of thing that gives people their second chance. Let's hope so for Lindsay's sake.

While it won't be out until this holiday season, Robert Downy Jr. and Jude Law are currently rocking the preview posters for his heavily revisionist take on Sherlock Holmes this week. While 19th century fashions may be hard to come by, men of taste will note that Mr. Law's jacket style closely resembles Zappos's own Ted Baker Vanbil jacket. We'll have to wait and see if the movie wears as good as those clothes, but for now the teaser trailers are showing some high promise.

The rumor mill this week has been pairing Selena Gomez with ultra hot Twilight star Taylor Lautner. While both camps have been mum on the subject, according to Ryan Seacrest's Top 40 broadcast Selena did recently disclose in an interview that there is in fact nothing going on between the two, and that her favorite Twilight actor is in fact Robert Pattinson. Considering the level of secrecy and misdirection that has surrounded the supposed relationships of the Twilight stars, this could merely be a smoke screen to give the two young stars some privacy.

Speaking of Pattinson, fans will be happy to note he is currently slated to star in the romantic drama Unbound Captives alongside Hollywood heartthrobs Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. The story follows a widowed woman and her search for her missing children. Fans undoubtedly will be searching for behind the scenes photos of the actors together.

Finally, Sandra Bullock is once again the queen of the box office with her latest romantic comedy, The Proposal. The film grossed over 34 Million domestic this weekend, which is a breath of fresh air for Ms. Bullock. Her last two film outings, Premonition and Infamous, hardly dented the box office earnings sheets, let alone our memories. Hopefully, this marks a strong comeback for one of Hollywood's most recognizable women.

Room Makeovers: Is White Right for Your Home or Apartment?

Jun 27, 2009 by Sabah K.

White accessories, furniture and accents can transform any living space and create a chic, modern, and sophisticated look. However, working with white can be very tricky. Too much white in a room can make the space look stark and sterile, but too little can set other colors in the room off balance and stand out too much against other color palettes. How do you introduce just the right amount of white into your apartment or house? Here are some tips for accessorizing and decorating with white décor and furnishings:

1. Use white as a focal point of the room. Whether it's a rug, a coffee table runner, or a sculpture that sits in the center of your room, choose one signature piece and three to four accent pieces to complement it so they can be scattered around the room.

2. Balance with silver, black and grey. An all-white room is much too stark and unfriendly for most living spaces, so you need to balance it out with other colors. Silver, black, grey and pewter are always great complements for white, so you can accessorize and decorate with these complementary hues to create a more attractive appearance.

3. Go for the black and white combo. Always trendy and stylish, decorating with an even amount of black and white can help you create a well-coordinated and attractive living space. Look for checkered tablecloths and cushion covers, printed throws and rugs, and furnishings that feature white or black trim. This color combo is a modern, hip and urban look that can really freshen up your living space.

4. Try off-white color palettes. Beige, ecru and white with a pinkish hue are attractive alternatives to classic white. These are actually great color options for painting entire walls and window trim with, so consider switching to a less dramatic version of white if you want a warmer look.

5. Use white as a brightener. In small doses, white can be a great way to freshen up an area of the room and draw attention to a space where there are no windows or natural light filtering in. Large white accent pillows, a white rug, or even some white vases will draw the eyes towards them and can help to balance out a dark room.

Beauty Tips: Get a Sun-Kissed Look Without the Burn

Jun 27, 2009 by Sabah K.

Now that beach season is underway, your skin might not be ready to meet the bronze beauties who have already gotten a head start on summer with their flawless tan. However, you don't have to sit under the sun and scorch your skin for hours to get that beautiful sun-kissed look. A few makeup tricks will help you get that bronze glow you crave!

Start things off with a solid bronze base using an illuminating liquid foundation. This type of foundation will add some natural shine and gloss to your look, and bring out the natural highlights of your skin. Next, bronze up those cheeks. You'll need a dual-colored bronzer to achieve the most natural look. Just sweep on a darker color on your cheekbones, and then dab on some of the lighter color on the apples of your cheeks, and on your T-zone. Using a bronzer on your cheeks instead of a pinkish-blush will give you the best tanned look.

For the eyes, stick with neutral browns, beige, and shimmery gold. You can use a bronzing powder as a base up to your brow, and then apply a small amount of gold or shimmering brown to your lids. This is a great way to enjoy a sun-kissed look without going overboard with your makeup. Jazz up the eyes even more with some thick mascara, and you'll be ready to show off those peepers.

The final step is to gloss up those lips with a nude-colored, shimmering gloss. Sheer lip gloss made with protective antioxidants is the best way to keep your lips looking smooth and supple all summer long. A hint of color will help you round out your bronze goddess look, and you can apply a sheer SPF lip gloss or balm underneath for extra sun protection.

Getting a sun-kissed look this season doesn't mean you have to log in hours at the tanning salon or burn your skin by the pool. Take the easier and healthier route to achieve that tan with some of these easy beauty and makeup tricks.

Building a Wardrobe in Your Teens 20s, 30s: Building a Vacation Wardrobe

Jun 26, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

When you are building a wardrobe you need to think about adding items that have specific purposes. For example, you will have collections of clothing that are for work, clothing collections that are for going out and having fun and clothing collections that are for going on vacation. When you are building your vacation wardrobe you will want to look for functional clothing items that are also fashionable.

Activity Specific Clothing Items
The clothing items that you purchase for your vacation wardrobe will reflect what you will be doing on your vacation and where you will be going. You will have several different types of vacation clothing, with items selected for the most common activities you participate in while on vacation. For example, if you are a camper you will want to select clothing items that are breathable, that are durable and that will protect your body from insect bites, scratches from vegetation and that will stretch and move with you. You will also want to select footwear that has a good tread and that are supportive of your feet.

On the other hand, if you are planning a luxury vacation, such as going on a cruise, your clothing choices are going to be different from those selected for going camping. First of all you will need a formal outfit for dining and night time activities aboard the cruise ship. You will also need casual wear for touring ports and lounging around on the ship. Finally, you will need great swimwear that is flattering to your figure.

If you will be traveling abroad then you will need to select clothing items for your vacation wardrobe that are culturally acceptable for the country that you will be visiting. For example, if you are going to a country that is more conservative than the United States, then you will want to select clothing items that cover your arms and legs and that also have a more conservative neckline. When selecting clothing items you will want to look for clothing options that are comfortable, that resist wrinkling and that flatter your shape and body type. You will also want to select clothing items that are appropriate for the climate and weather conditions that you will be encountering in the foreign country.

Easy Fashion Tips: Beading = Great Pieces & Hot Accessories

Jun 25, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

This summer there are trends galore. One new fashion trend that has recently emerged amidst the jumpers and neon pieces of the Spring 2009 runway is beaded tops and dresses. Drew Barrymore, Mischa Barton and Iman all wore gowns with beading to recent red carpet events. Beading can provide a wonderful and personalized look for formal or casual occasions. Beading can be of any color, heavily or lightly interwoven into many types of fabric, in one place or in several different spots. In many cases, it also saves you the need to overload on accessories since the beading of the piece is an accessory in itself!

If you're looking to wear this trend in a more casual way, paired with denim capris or white summer pants, try a beautifully beaded top. A wide variety of beading styles can be found in beaded tops. Sometimes, if you're lucky, designers will combine trends. For instance, a bright coral shade is combined perfectly with defined "choker" style beading on the Ella Moss Caribbean Top in Flamingo ($183). Choker-style beading on a top or gown draws attention to the face and diminishes the need for other jewelry (although, in some cases, it may still be appropriate). A beaded halter with similar styling is the Type Z Kate's Halter in Mustard ($71.10). This top has smaller beads followed by larger wooden beads at the base of the neckline, creating the illusion that the top and accessory are fused.

Beaded gowns can also range from casual to formal, and everywhere in between. Dresses like the Roxy Famous Dress in White ($50.50) with beading at the straps and waist, can be worn to a barbeque, a beach party or even to the mall. A formal but exquisitely beautiful dress that combines the beaded and brilliantly colored trends is the Robert Rodriguez Twist Neck Embroidered Dress ($435). Bright pink in color, this dress has flowing floral beading down the front.

Beading has always been popular, but it has become more mainstream with its recent resurgence as a trend, allowing more and more women to enjoy its beauty and fashion benefits.

Office Style: The Grey Line of Business Casual for Summer

Jun 25, 2009 by Sabah K.

Summer season calls for carefree looks and lightweight clothing, but if you're adhering to a business casual dress code this season, you'll need to exercise some discretion over the season's hottest trends. Summer fashion trends include short minidresses, cropped pants and halter tops designed to show off your tan and keep you cool, but most of these pieces won't even make the cut for your business casual wardrobe.

Stock up on linen pants that you can press for a pulled-together look. Linen pants in darker colors are a great substitute for your usual black office pants and skirts, and can create a semi-professional look when you pair them with a fitted blouse. Just make sure they're clean and pressed, and wear a pair of ballet flats or closed-toe shoes to complete the ensemble.

For tops, try some of the season's loose and billowy caftan or dolman sleeve blouses. These work especially well with a pair of cropped pants that fall below the knee - the perfect business casual office look! These tops will keep you relaxed, and give you that playful summer look without breaking the dress code.

If you prefer to wear a skirt, look for the frock-inspired skirts and pair it with a fitted blouse or V-neck tee for a cute and fun look. These skirts are great for summer, and can be paired with some closed-toe ballet flats or other closed-toe shoes to create a pulled-together look.

If your office dress code permits sleeveless tops, don't think this means you can throw on the halter top or ruffled tank tops just yet. Sleeveless can still be conservative for the business casual setting if it's a polo neck top, or a sleeveless vest that's layered with a high-neck camisole or t-shirt. Be careful about how much skin you're showing when you're in the office environment, and stick with the more modest styles whenever you can.

It can be tricky to make sure you're abiding by the company dress code over the summer season, but there are plenty of clothes and accessories that do make the cut for business casual. When you choose to wear linen pants, oversized blouses, and well-cut sleeveless tops, you can stay attuned to the season's trends and enjoy a more relaxed look without breaking the rules!

From the Runway to Your Closet: Asymmetrical Lines

Jun 25, 2009 by Tiffany B

One of the popular fashion trends that has been appearing on the runways are asymmetrical lines. Asymmetrical lines are basically any type of hem on a piece of clothing that is not the same as another part of the clothing. It could be a dress that falls longer on the one side or it could be a blouse that only has a strap on one shoulder. These types of clothing pieces have been seen on the fashion runways of Roberto Cavalli, Robert Rodriguez, and Vivienne Westwood to just name a couple of designers.

The runway fashion trend of asymmetrical lines is not strictly for the runway and model-type women. This fashion trend is actually a very wearable trend for all women. Having an asymmetrical hem on a shirt or dress may actually draw attention away from the waist and focus it on nicely toned arms or long legs.

An asymmetrical line can easily take an otherwise plain dress and turn into a show-stopping dramatic dress. It gives it the added touch to make it look more interesting, which can make you look more interesting. A one-shouldered blouse can easily be paired with a skirt or a pair of jeans and you can take it out for a night on the town, without showing too much skin.

It is actually rather easy to find pieces of clothing with asymmetrical lines as the fashion trend has also become a hit with the every-day average woman. If you want a cute, but still hot blouse to wear out for a night on the town in summer, try a one-shouldered blouse with a print, such as this one by Just Cavalli. If you are looking for more of a formal dress for a wedding or a fancy date night with your man, then consider a dress like this one from Vivienne Westwood . They are both easy and wearable styles that add drama and intrigue to your outfit.

Asymmetrical lines is a fashion trend that you are going to be seeing a lot of this summer.

Celebrity Gossip: Is The Hills Staged?

Jun 24, 2009 by Tiffany B.

If you are a fan of Grey's Anatomy, you are going to be missing one main character next season. It is official that T.R. Knight, who plays George O'Malley, will not be returning for the next season. According to an inside source, Knight has had enough of the show and his character's story is going nowhere. On the season final of the show, it was discovered that George was the mystery man that got hit by the bus saving the woman. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that T.R. will head back to Broadway in Lend Me a Tenor in 2010.

Here's a big shocker for everybody: The Hills is fake. Lauren Conrad, who used to be the star of the reality show went on The View to promote her new book and revealed what everyone has known for a long time. The show is staged and fake. When Elisabeth Hasslebeck asked Lauren about Spencer's apology for spreading rumors about Lauren, she replied, "To be perfectly honest, I wasn't on the other end of that call. That was filmed, and I wasn't on the other end. So I didn't even know about it until it was on TV. So, no, I didn't get an apology. He lied." So, what other scenes in the show were fake as well? Are Heidi and Spencer actually married this time around? Lauren's next book should be a behind the scenes look at what really went on during filming The Hills.

Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina is coming to her rescue. Not only is she defending her daughter but she says that Lindsay is the victim in everything. According to Dina Lohan, "Last month her personal cell was posted online and now her phone messages have been hacked. Dina went on to tell PEOPLE, "This must stop. She is a 22-year-old girl who needs to live her life in peace. The tabloids need to leave her alone with all the lies and reporting with no proof." She also called the accusations of Lindsay stealing the jewelry from an Elle photo shoot, "defamatory, false and unfair." She states that there were 20 other people at the shoot that could have taken the jewels. What's more embarrassing? Being accused of being a jewel thief or your mommy having to come to your rescue?

Celebrity Style Mashup: Not So Clueless - Bella and Cher

Jun 23, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

The goth and hip style of Kristen Stewart's Bella in Twilight could benefit from a feminine touch, as much as Alicia Silverstone's Cher in Clueless could use a little more brooding in her wardrobe. Combine the feminine innocence of Cher's fashion with the darker and more androgynous look of Bella for a stylish celebrity fashion mash-up.

White Meet Black
A classic look from the movie Clueless that still intrigues girls today are white knee-high socks and above-the-knee socks. In Cher's day, way back in 1995, the white knee socks were worn with a happy yellow plaid skirt.

Where Cher's shoes were shiny, patent leather, Kristen Stewart in Twilight is more apt to don a pair of Chucks or Doc Martens. Combine the look of white patent leather and the edge of a black sole with black laces and you have these celebrity mash-up boots by Timberland.

Accessory Lessons
Kristen Stewart can take accessory lessons from Alicia Silverstone's Cher. Whether it's a color-coordinated phone, a wide headband or the perfect dangling earrings, Cher was always dressed from head to feet. Spruce up your own Kristen Stewart-inspired outfit with a black beret, totally Cher, but ideal for Twilight weather.

Distressed Polish
Continue the polished meets distressed look. Combine a tailored blouse with a thin, high belt and a pair of distressed and torn jeans. Wear a pair of open-toed ankle boots in metallic or silver for a more innocent look, or be brash and wear black booties.

Plaids
One crossover element in both of these character's wardrobes is plaid. For a clean, preppy look opt for white with black stripes, or a yellow or pink fabric with black or chocolate brown stripes. For the more Twilight look, a red or gray plaid works. Combine Twilight and Clueless styles by starting with a pastel-colored skort and combining it with black and gray clothing and accessories.

Celebrity Gossip: Rihanna and Chris Brown Trial Ready to Start

Jun 22, 2009 by Stephanie Sims

Vampires have bitten the nation! With Twilight being dubbed as the next Harry Potter, until the second movie in the series, New Moon, comes out, people will have to settle for season two of True Blood, a vampire series on HBO. Anna Paquin stars, and according to various entertainment websites, she'll be showing lots more skin. Photos of a topless Paquin filming a scene have been leaked, and it's rumored even more of her will be bared during the season.

Speaking of baring skin, Bethenny Frankel of The Real Housewives of New York showed a little too much in a sheer black jumpsuit at the Apollo Theater 75th Anniversary Gala the week of June 13th. We guess now that the show has wrapped, she really wants to put herself out there.

And finally, Rihanna is getting ready to testify against her ex-boyfriend (and rumored current boyfriend, according to gossip sites), Chris Brown, in his assault trial. The singer will be in LA Monday, June 22 to testify at the preliminary hearing. It looks like Brown is already trying to clean up his public image, however. He's allegedly hired a crisis management company called Sitrick and Company to help reverse his public image. Everything he's done thus far, from his appearance at the NBA final game with a Rihanna-lookalike to his video on YouTube has been the carefully calculated work of the firm. But even though making more tame public appearances might make the trial fade into the background for some people, we're sure it's not working with Rihanna. The preliminary hearing should be interesting.

Beauty Tips: How to Make Eye Makeup Stick This Summer

Jun 20, 2009 by Sabah K.

If you're wearing eye makeup at the beach, at the pool, or all day long during your weekend getaway this summer, making sure it stays put can be a major challenge. The hot sun and sweat can make your makeup disappear in no time flat, but there are some ways to make sure your favorite eye shadow, liner and mascara stay on your face for the long haul. Here's how to make your eye makeup stick for hours and hours:

1. Use a makeup primer on your eyelids. Makeup gurus do this all the time for models and actresses who will be under a hot light for long periods of time. A makeup primer will help the eyeshadow stay in place, and reduces the risk of creasing. Just a slight dab of this on your eyelids is all it takes to create a smooth surface for your shadow du jour.

2. Wear waterproof eyeliner. Waterproof eyeliner will help you create those cat eyes with ease, so you don't have to worry about touch-ups all day long. This is especially important when you're going to be at the beach for the day and won't have access to your beauty bag for hours. Stock up on this summer essential so you're only putting your eyeliner on once!

3. Use waterproof mascara. Waterproof mascara will also stay in place rain or shine, and is an absolute necessity if you plan to hit the water this season. Apply a few generous coats on both your upper and lower lashes for a fresh and sassy look that will stick with you all day long.

4. Use Vaseline to apply your shadow. Petroleum jelly will make your powdered shadow turn into a smooth, lightweight paste that simply won't budge when it's dry. Dab a little Vaseline onto a q-tip and mix it with some shadow for a no-fuss application.

5. Blowdry your makeup before going out. Give your makeup a chance to 'set' by running a blowdryer about a foot away from your face before you head outdoors. This will keep the powders and liner a chance to bind to your skin.

Making sure your eye makeup stays in place can be a summer challenge, but there are some tricks you can use to make it stick. Grab that Vaseline and waterproof mascara, and enjoy your makeover for the entire day!

Handbag Report: Summer Tips for Tote Lovers

Jun 20, 2009 by Sabah K.

Summer is finally here, which means it's time to spice up your look with some bold, fresh and funky accessories. One of the easiest ways to freshen up your look for this season is with an oversized summer tote. Tote bags are an absolute must-have for those weekend getaways and long, relaxing days by the pool. They're the ultimate carryall for all your essentials, and you can flaunt the latest trends and your unique style with the right match. Here are some tips for picking the right tote bag for the season:

1. Don't be afraid of the bold and bright. This season's hottest colors in summer totes are hot pink, orange, yellow, fuchsia, cherry red and turquoise. You don't have to stick with the neutrals for your summer bag, even if you're wearing a bold, eye-catching outfit. These totes are sure to boost your mood and get you ready for the beach in no time!

2. Do the weave. Basket-inspired totes are one of the hottest trends of the season, so take your trip to Havana and tote along a khaki-colored or light brown straw bag if you can. Straw tote bags are fun and functional, and this summer classic can be used year after year.

3. Say yes to the supersize. Oversized totes are the way to go for the season, and they're especially versatile for those days you need to pack a picnic, beach blankets, magazines and your beauty bag for the day. Look for wide straps and sturdy materials that will carry your haul for the long haul.

4. Count those pockets. The bigger the bag, the more compartments you'll need to stay organized. Make sure your tote has plenty of pockets inside and out, so you're not rifling through dozens of items just to find your sunglasses. The compartments don't have to be very large, but just big enough to keep your accessories separate.

5. Accessorize with a scarf. If you plan to wear a scarf or wrap around your head for extra sun protection, tie it around your tote as an accessory. This will add another burst of color to your look, and makes your tote look oh-so-chic!

Building a Wardrobe: Selecting Bags, Totes, Backpacks and Other Carryalls

Jun 19, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

When you are building a wardrobe you need to look at the items you use to carry and organize your daily equipment and supplies. The most commonly used items to carry supplies are purses, wallets, totes, duffle bags and backpacks. While these items may seem like simple utility purchases, if you put some effort into the items you select then you can use them to enhance the look and style of your overall wardrobe.

When building a man's wardrobe you will focus on selecting wallets, duffle bags and backpacks. Wallets are an everyday carryall that needs a more formal appearance. Generally you will want to avoid canvas and Velcro wallets once you are over 18 years of age. A high quality leather wallet in a neutral tone will compliment any outfit that you put on. For sports and more casual carryalls you can turn to backpacks and duffle bags. When selecting these items you will still want to look for quality materials. Spending a little more on your sports carryalls will not only ensure that they last longer, but it will also help you to find a bag that looks good. If you have a flexible budget then you can also buy several sports bags in various colors and designs so that you can coordinate your sports bag with your workout clothes.

When building a woman's wardrobe you will want to look at a wide variety of bags. Clutches can be selected to complete your evening look. You will want a basic black clutch, as well as several more colorful clutches. Next you will look for purses that are suitable for day use. These can be made from leather, canvas, pleather or other materials. You will want to select purses that make sense for your needs and that also will coordinate with your basic wardrobe items. Also, you will want to select both neutral color purses and colorful purses. The colorful purses can be used to add a punch of color or pattern to a neutral outfit. Finally, you will want to look for sports and utility bags. These bags will be used for workout supplies, hiking gear and casual use. You can select sports bags that compliment your workout wear or that look attractive to you.

Celebrity Gossip: Love & Gossip Keeps Hollywood Turning

Jun 19, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

It's been a week for love and gossip in the wild world of celebrity, although some star's love lives are not running so smoothly.

Well, Usher, it looks like mama was right all along. The baby-faced crooner, 30, filed for divorce from Tameka Foster Raymond, his 38-year-old wife of two years. His mother's opposition to their relationship caused some very public problems for the couple. After their lavish wedding was canceled due to issues with his mother and bride-to-be, Usher's mom skipped their civil ceremony marriage. Now, after the birth of he and Tameka's two baby sons, he may have decided that mamma Jonetta Patton was right from the start. Meanwhile, Tameka's lawyer has denied any wrongdoing on his client's part, saying she was a good wife to Usher and a devoted mother to his children.

Fortunately, celebrity love marches on. Bruce Willis is loud and proud when it comes to his new wife, model Emma Heming. Heming, 32, and Willis, 54, married in March 2009. They recently celebrated their love in a unique style - with a racy photo shoot for W Magazine, due to come out next month. In other news, Joshua Duggar, the eldest Duggar son, is already following in his parents' famous footsteps. He and wife Anna married in September 2008, and are already expecting their first baby. It's a girl!

Lindsay Lohan and lover Sam Ronson have crashed and burned once again, and Lohan's subsequent behavior is increasingly bizarre. Most recently, the actress sent a scandalous photo of herself to followers on Twitter. Not helping: the fact that $400,000 worth of jewels recently went MIA during a recent Lohan photo shoot with Elle magazine, prompting some people to wonder if Lohan herself was to blame.

All in all, Hollywood has been delightedly dysfunctional this week. Hopefully, some of the bumps will be smoothed and our stars will live happily ever after.

Office Style: Do's and Don'ts for Summer Fashion at the Office

Jun 18, 2009 by Sabah K.

As the office steams up from the hot weather and you're seeking out air-conditioned territory, choosing the right outfits for the day can be a challenge. Many of the season's dresses, tank tops and capris just aren't fit for the business-casual dress code, and some won't even make it to casual Friday.

What's a cubicle dweller or corporate exec to do? Here are some do's and don'ts for summer fashion at the office:

+Do pair pencil skirts with a fitted tee. Pencil skirts are a great match for summer days, and you can find a variety of styles made with lightweight linen and cotton. Pair these up with a fitted tee for a semi-casual but professional look.

+Don't wear gladiator sandals. Gladiator sandals are a hot look for the summer season, but these open-toed flats probably won't make the cut for your business-casual days. Stick with closed-toe pumps or flats for all day time office wear, but look for lightweight leather and kitten heels to keep it summery.

+Do wear long capri pants. Capri pants that end up right above your ankles are usually appropriate for the business-casual wardrobe. Pair these up with pumps or closed-toe flats for a fun, summertime look.

+Don't wear halter tops. Unless they're strategically hidden under a suit and those shoulders never make an appearance, the halter top is a definite 'no' for the office. Stick with fitted tees and camisoles that are layered with a short-sleeve sweater or blazer for a more acceptable summer look.

+Do wear relaxed button-down or linen shirts. It's okay to do away with the crisp cotton shirt tops for a few months and replace them with relaxed versions. Just iron and press these slightly so you create an attractive silhouette, and enjoy the lightweight, breathable materials on those hotter-than-hot summer days.

+Don't wear shorts. Shorts are a no-go for the office, no matter how casual your office environment is. If you want to show some leg, stick with the capri pants or a well-cut skirt. Save the shorts for your weekend wardrobe!

Finally, do pay attention to what others in the office are wearing. If nobody else is wearing capris or fitted tees, they may be an office fashion faux pas. Take the time to review the company's dress code so you don't get in trouble for your summer ensemble.

Easy Fashion Tips: Neons & Neutrals for Spring

Jun 18, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

As spring officially gets underway, another hot 80's fashion statement is making a comeback. Starting this season, it's all about the neons. Expect to see neon in everything from pants and dresses to accessories. Shocking neon shades have been seen on the red carpet lately, on A-list celebs like Gossip Girl's Taylor Momsen and singer Alicia Keys. So, what's the best (and most foolproof) way to wear neon this season?

Everyone remembers the scary neon overload of the 80's. Fortunately, it's not just neons that are hot right now, but neon shades paired with neutrals, in any number of combinations. The result is a look that is both eye-catching and stylish. For instance, a black pantsuit with neon pink heels or a bright green dress with black, white or gray accessories all work well into this trend.

Dresses are an easy warm-weather way to wear neon in comfort. There are plenty of great dresses available in neon shades, such as the Ginger Orange Nevaeh Dress designed by Ezekiel. Eye-popping tops like the French Connection Prom Ruffle Top ($80) and bottoms like the Apple Bottoms Skinny Leg Pocket Pant in Sunflower ($81) are great ways to get in on this trend; just don't over do it with more than one neon shade.

Are you looking for a really simple way to wear neon without spending a lot of cash? Wear accenting neons in the form of shoes, purses, jewelry, watches and hair accessories with the all black, white or gray outfits you probably already have. Take a monochromatic outfit and add some pizzazz to it with a brightly colored handbag like the Dooney & Bourke Sport Duck Purse ($48). Or, add flare in other ways, with a funky necklace, watch or pair of shoes.

The return of the retro neons makes staying in style this season easy, and most of all, fun. Use these easy-to-follow tips to make the most of this Spring 2009 trend.

From the Runway to Your Closet: The Jumpsuit Makes a Comeback

Jun 18, 2009 by Tiffany B

When you think of the word jumpsuit, the 80's may come to mind, but believe it or not jumpsuits are all the rage in the fashion world. They are being seen on all the runways as well as on celebrities. Celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Beyonce, and Kate Bosworth have all been seen wearing jumpsuits, but you are not a celebrity nor a model walking down the runway. So, how you can sport this runway fashion trend without looking like you walked straight out of a Bangles music video?

Here are some things to remember when taking this fashion trend off the runway.

The jumpsuit actually gained popularity during last fall but with summer here, it has taken on some new variations with color and style. No longer will you just find all black jumpsuits, but there are ones in all colors and even patterns. If you are the daring type of person, you can pull off the zebra print jumpsuit, you just have to do know how to wear it and when to wear it. Something like a zebra print jumpsuit is best suited for events such as a night on the town or a cocktail party. It should be played up with a fancy belt along with some cute jewelry such as chunky bracelets or a big cocktail ring. Pair it with a high heeled pump or peep-toe shoes and you are ready for a night out. They key to this look is to look put together and not like a shapeless, potato sack.

Whether you are choosing the casual jumpsuit for running errands or the black dressy one for a cocktail party, you need to remember a couple key things. If the outfit has a voluminous top, you need to make sure that it is cinched in at the waist with a belt or tie on the jumpsuit. If it is not, it can look sloppy and make you look larger than you are. You can have some variation with the style of the pants. One fashion trend is pants with a tapered leg, while pants with a wide leg are also popular. Pick what suits your body the best.

If you are new to this fashion trend, you may want to stick to an all black jumpsuit like this one by Allen Schwartz.

Celebrity Gossip: Usher Divorces, Miley hangs with Nick Jonas, Lindsay Lohan accused of Stealing

Jun 17, 2009 by Tiffany B

The news of R&B star Usher and his wife Tameka Foster getting a divorce came as no big shock for people who were close to the couple. A source told PEOPLE, "No one I've spoken to is surprised. As bad as this is gonna sound, it was never a matter of 'I wonder if they'll divorce,' but more like 'I wonder WHEN they'll divorce." Sources close to the couple even said that the marriage was doomed before it even started. "They peaked before they even got married. Right after it was over, they started to drift apart. Usher just wasn't ready to settle down, at least not with her." The reason for the breakup was apparently Usher's bachelor ways and no third party played a part in the divorce. The couple got married in September 2007 after canceling a planned wedding in July 2007. They have two children together.

It didn't take long for Miley Cyrus to get over her boyfriend Justin Gaston. Only a week after calling it quits, Miley was seen with her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers. Miley told a radio station, "He's my best friend, and we still hang out all the time, and we've definitely reconnected. We don't know what's going to happen in the future, but right now we're just kicking it and hanging out as much as we can." The Hannah Montana star was spotted with the Jonas brother playing on the beach and jet skiing on the island of Tybee, where she is filming her movie The Last Song. Miley and Nick broke up in December of 2007 after secretly dating for several months. Cyrus has talked about the breakup and how bad it was for her, but is happy that the two have reconnected now.

Lindsay Lohan is being accused of stealing once again. She is being accused of stealing jewelry that was used for a photo shoot that she did for Elle in London. This is not the first time that she has been accused of stealing. She was accused last year of stealing a college student's mink coat from a night club. She was also accused of stealing clothing from Louis Vuitton for a photo shoot she did back in 2007. Could Lindsay be having money problems that she needs to steal? Let's face it, she has not worked in some time.

Evolution of Clothing and Shoes: Converse Chucks

Jun 15, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

No other type of shoe is as acclaimed in popular film and TV than the Converse Chucks. As the most recognizable brands of shoes on film and TV, Converse All Star Chuck Taylor sneakers have been worn by angst-ridden teens, vampires, dancers, frat boys, greasers, bachelors, and the cool and uncool.

The classic, solid-color high-top shoe comes in pink, black, white, red, yellow, purple and different blues. The solid colors are the ones most often spotted on the screen, although the shoes are available with graphic prints to please preppies, punks and everyone in between.

The shoe that launched more than 750 million pairs around the world was introduced in 1917 by the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts. Basketball player Chuck Taylor made this shoe his preferred basketball shoe, in the unbleached white version. Due to his endorsement, his suggested modifications and Converse adding his name to the shoe, both the player and the shoe became legends.

See Converse Chucks in period films including Grease, a 1978 film about the 1950s, and 10 years later in 1988's Hairspray, set in the 1960s. The iconic shoe was at home in both films, as it was also comfortable on the feet of John Belushi in Animal House.

In the 1980s, Chucks were widely popular, thanks to Footloose and Kevin Bacon and Kevin Costner in Bull Durham. Jim Carrey wore Chucks in the better-forgotten Once Bitten vampire film and Screech wore them on "Saved by the Bell," but we forgive the Chucks.

In addition to appearing in hundreds of films, Chucks have also permeated our culture through and through. In each decade Chucks can be spotted, which helps explain how the shoes manage to bridge any generation gap. From Lassie (1950s), to Dennis the Menace (1960s), Laverne & Shirley (1970s), and Seinfeld (1990s), the Converse Chucks are unmatched by any other shoe for TV appearances.

Girls and women wear them too, and Keri Russell as Felicity (before the hair fiasco) showed us that in the late 1990s.

Easy Fashion Tips: Stylish & Put Together with One Easy Trick

Jun 11, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

When you're out and about, at the metro station or at the mall, do you notice (and silently critique) what the women around you are wearing? Some people obviously threw whatever they could find on, while others try to look fashionable and never quite get there. On the endless spectrum of wardrobe interpretations, there is one fashion trick that makes almost any outfit look trendy - matching colors or accents. It may seem totally obvious, but think about it. When I see a woman in a turquoise blouse, and then notice turquoise-accented espadrilles or a beaded turquoise headband, my first thought is 'wow, that looks sharp. I wish I had the time and money to pull that off'. Surprisingly, I've discovered it's not as pricey as it looks. Most women have the cash to pull it all together with matching shoes and accessories - you just have to know where to look.

If you're watching your budget, then know this: the matching shoes, headpieces, jewelry and purses don't need to be expensive at all. The overall "put together" effect of the outfit is what people will notice. For instance, orange can be a hard color to pull off. But pair a hot top like the Nic & Zoe Wave Sheer Print Cardigan with the affordable Romantic Soles Snuggles in orange for $59.00, and you've got an outfit that looks far more expensive than it is. Jewelry is an even less expensive way to match up an outfit, since costume jewelry is cheap and can be bought to match any shade. For example, check out the Juicy Couture Brushed Jersey Pant can be matched with the Goorin Brothers Ribeye Hat in pink for just $36.00.

So next time you're looking to make an impression, don't max out your credit card. Just match up the colors you love with affordable accessories for a look that outlasts the trends.

Jun 9, 2009 by E.A. Anne

Italy: the most romantic country in the world. Italy is one of those countries where tourists are better at spending a pretty penny to get the best, most romantic and most luxurious accommodations available. And if you're going to spend that extra money, spend it in Venice, one of the most gorgeous cities known to man.

Hotel Gritti Palace in Venice is known for its romantic atmosphere. The hotel palace was built in a traditional Venetian style in 1525, and since has been remodeled, renovated and updated. While the amenities of Hotel Gritti Palace are very modern, the feel of the hotel is very old-world, so you'll feel like you've stepped back in time to a more simple, romantic place in our history.

The rooms at Hotel Gritti Palace are also decorated in the old Venetian style, with hand painted wood and luxuriously unique fabrics. The hotel has a host of individually designed guest rooms as well as nine suites. The suites have gorgeous views of Venice, including the Grand Canal and Santa Maria del Giglio Square. The suites also have private sitting rooms for entertaining and relaxation.

The Club del Doge restaurant at the Hotel Gritti Palace will send your tastebuds into a whirl of delight. The restaurant itself is seated over Venice, with a spectacular view of the city and surrounding areas. The chef's restaurant emphasizes the importance of using fresh and local ingredients in all dishes, which are served with traditional Italian flair. Club del Doge always has the best wines from local vineyards and renowned international vineyards to suit all tastes, from the simple to the most discerning palate.

Hotel Gritti Palace's private beach will definitely be the highlight of your trip if you travel to Venice during the summer. The beautiful sands and warm water are a perfect combination for anyone looking to relax in luxury. Don't forget to pack your sarong before heading out to the beach.

Evolution of Clothing and Shoes: Romper Room - The Jumpsuit

Jun 8, 2009 by Pam Gaulin

Fashion may be trying to play a joke on us. The punch line is the jumpsuit. The jumpsuit induces visceral reactions, and nobody is without an opinion. For some, it's a sexy outfit for assertive women like Pam Grier, for others it's too utilitarian. One reason for our ambiguous feelings towards the jumpsuit can be traced back to 1970s movies and TV shows and its many depictions of science fiction.

Sexy or Utilitarian?
Jaclyn Smith made jumpsuits sexy by being one of the original characters in Charlie's Angels in the 1970s. The 1970s also brought us Pinky Tuskadero on Happy Days, who was sultry in her silver jumpsuit, which she wore to ride her motorcycle.

The jumpsuit took on a more menacing force when it was worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. The masculine jumpsuit was reminiscent of Top Gun flight suits and bright orange prison suits. Previously the jumpsuit had comedic appeal, when it worn as part of the Ghostbusters uniform in 1984.

The jumpsuit has oft been cast as a futuristic outfit, and can also be seen in This Island Earth (1955), Buck Rogers In The Twenty-Fifth Century (1979-1981), Fantastic Voyage (1966), Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and Aeon Flux (2005).

The future may be here already, since jumpsuits have found their way back to TV. The Dharma jumpsuits on Lost have become nearly iconic for millions of fans, and any Lost party or Halloween party would be incomplete without the tan work jumpsuit and Dharma logo.

At the same time the jumpsuit is working on Lost, it's being worn on MTV's The Hills, including the Helmut Lang twill jumpsuit worn by one Audrina. These two current examples show our ambiguous relationship with the jumpsuit: is it sexy or utilitarian, and can it ever fall somewhere in between?

Casual and Sexy
The casual and sexy jumpsuit, with bandeau or tube top and no straps is today's answer to the jumpsuit.

Celebrity Gossip: Spider-Man Actress takes own Life

Jun 8, 2009 by Stephanie Sims

Sad news. Actress Lucy Gordon has taken her own life in her apartment in Paris, France on Wednesday, May 20. The British star, who appeared in the movies Spider-Man 3, Frost and Serendipity, and had just finished playing Jane Birkin in the biopic Serge Gainsboug, was found dead just two days before her 29th birthday. Those close to the actress believe she was devastated after the recent loss of a close friend in the U.K.

Gordon was found at her apartment at la Rue des Petites Ecuries after a male friend alerted a nearby shopkeeper. An unnamed detective tells the Daily Telegraph Online, "There were no suspicious circumstances. It appears that the young woman took her own life." However, an investigation was opened and police questioned the male friend who reportedly found her and alerted the shopkeeper.

In movie news, "Ghostbusters" is coming close to having a third movie made, and it's rumored that Dan Akroyd wants Alyssa Milano or Eliza Dushku cast as a female Ghostbuster. Aykroyd told the LA Times that he'd love to see Dushku or Milano as a female Ghostbuster, called both actresses "amazing," and said with a female Ghostbuster, it would be "a passing-of-the-torch movie ... to a new generation." Akroyd also revealed the third movie would have a five-member crew, and that while they'll certainly feature the original characters, it will also focus on the new set.

We'll end this blog with happy news - It's a girl for Chad Lowe and girlfriend *Kim Painter*! The couple welcomed a daughter, Mabel Painter Lowe, last Saturday, May 16th in Los Angeles. Lowe, 41, and Painter announced they were expecting in late January. The couple began dating in January 2007, after Lowe finalized his divorce to Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank.

Building a Wardrobe: Adding Unique Clothing Items to Your Wardrobe

Jun 5, 2009 by Eisla Sebastian

Staying in style all the time is nearly impossible to do since fashion changes on a seasonal basis. However, if you create your own style you won't be such a slave to fashion trends. If you are interested in creating a look that is uniquely you, then all you have to do is add a few signature pieces to your basic wardrobe. These purchases will add color, patterns and style to your wardrobe that will turn a basic outfit into a stylish outfit that is so "you."

Adding Color to Your Wardrobe
The first way that you can enhance your wardrobe and create your own style is to select signature colors. For example, if you enjoy the color turquoise then you can select accent clothing pieces and accessories that are made in this color. The goal here is to select a color that is complimentary to your skin and hair tones and that will make basic outfits pop. You will also want to select seasonal clothing items in your signature color so that you can be "you" all year round.

Adding Patterns to Your Wardrobe
Another simple way to enhance the style of your wardrobe is to add clothing items that have unique patterns. You can select a floral pattern or a geometrical pattern. A few of these pattern pieces can be used to enhance the interest of the outfits that you put together. For example, you can enhance the visual appeal of a basic black suite by adding a patterned camisole or a patterned shirt under the jacket. You can also use patterned leggings or socks to add a touch of interest to an all business outfit.

Vintage, Contemporary or Futuristic
The third way you can enhance the look of your wardrobe is to select a style that you enjoy. This style can be vintage, contemporary or futuristic. After selecting a style that you like and that looks good on your body you will find a few pieces from that style to weave into your wardrobe. These pieces can be mixed and matched with your basic wardrobe items to create all new stylish outfits.

Easy Fashion Tips: Funky, Colorful Patterns Make This Warm Season Bright

Jun 4, 2009 by Rebecca White-Glanders

This year the spring trends are all about the throwback to 1980's pop culture and fashion, when stylish clothes were bright and fun. Along with the bright colors and fun jumpers, shirts and dresses in brightly colored, funky patterns are making a comeback of their own. Whether it's a tee, tank, halter or simple summer dress, the bolder and more individual the pattern the better. Here are a few great examples to get you started on your 80's inspired look.

For those of you who are new to this trend, it's a good idea to start wherever you feel comfortable. You can test this trend out for yourself with a funky pattern on a favorite standby: the summer tank top. One perfect piece is the Custo Barcelona Sveta Turquoise Tank ($171). This tank is incredibly gorgeous and features beautiful black, blue, purple and turquoise hyacinth-like blooms in a bright and beguiling pattern. Another super-trendy top that is sure to get you noticed is the Apple Bottoms Printed Strapped Back Keyhole Fashion Top ($51), in eye-catching tropical shades of red, green, blue, yellow, orange and black. If you're a little more rock'n'roll and you want to test the waters with a funky, rock-inspired tee, you'll definitely want to check out the Custo Barcelona Hokie Berge ($81), a seemingly dichotomous mix of a purple and black rock print with a central pattern of orange, red and white.

This trend is easy for anyone to incorporate into their spring and summer wardrobes, and it's oh-so-easy as the brightly colored piece does all of the work for you! Just throw on your favorite pair of shorts or jeans, a cute pair of shoes, some funky jewelry and you're at the top of your game for the beach, the pool or anywhere else this season takes you.

Fashion designer and soon-to-be former star of The Hills, Lauren Conrad, aka L.C., has a sweet and fashion-forward style. Her wardrobe reflects her fit body, but does not reveal too much. L.C. is the good girl, who won't be caught on a Don't list. Mash up that good girl style of Lauren with the bad girl style of Gossip Girls' Georgina Sparks, as played by Michelle Trachtenberg.

Blue is the Summer Black
Both fictional Georgina Sparks and real life Lauren Conrad embrace blueberry blue. Blueberry blue is the new black, for summer months. Blue accessories including bright blue bangles as worn by Lauren or a fashionable blue scarf as worn by Georgina

Cami Dress and Black Booties
Combine a sweet Cami dress, a style which is flattering on and popular with Lauren, and it can be worn with a pair of bad girl Georgina Sparks peep toe booties with high heels. The black heels give the dress and edge. Add a long 1920's inspired necklace.

Rough Up the Dress
A sleeveless leather coat a la Georgina Sparks can be worn, long or cropped for more attitude, with classic Lauren Conrad separates. Combine a layered skirt that lands above the knees, with a body-hugging top. If the skirt does not have a pronounced waist, add a belt.

Bejeweled
Lauren Conrad often lets her outfit speak for itself, and does not layer her jewelry. Georgina Sparks, on the other hand knows the importance of making a strong statement with rings and things. Make a strong statement with a cobra or snake ring or arm bracelet, and wear it with a graphic t-shirt and pair of slinky jeans. Layer different styles and lengths of beaded necklaces.

Sugar and Spice
Sweeten a Georgina Sparks outfit with a touch of pink to an outfit of black or gray. Or start with a pink top and add black jeans and a gray scarf. Soften the outfit a bit more with some open-toed heels and a surprise of pink toenail polish.

Evolution of Clothing: It Suits Him: Ties and Coats and Panache

Ties and coats are no longer just for forced family photos and holiday gatherings. Young men with panache can proudly wear a slightly disheveled white shirt and tie or suit coat and t-shirt thanks to Zac Effron and the Jonas Brothers.

The Disney sensations known as Jo-Bros, and Zac Effron, cannot take complete credit for co-opting formal wear into hot casual looks. First we need to look back at movie stars who made the suit famous, as well as later stars who deconstructed the style.

Nobody wore the suit like Cary Grant. In many of his films from the 1940s and 1950s Cary Grant appeared as comfortable in his pressed shirt and full suit as many would be in a pair of pajamas. Fast-forward to Dustin Hoffman, barefoot in a suit coat and unbuttoned dress shirt in the iconic scene where he is watching Mrs. Robinson take off her nylons.

The suit got serious in the 1980's film American Gigolo, as worn by Richard Gere and designed by Giorgio Armani. Richard Gere's profession may not have been noble, but in the 1980s there was a definite mass consciousness that connected suit wearing with money making. Suit elements, including bigger-than-life shoulder pads found there way into women's business attire.

The 1980s also brought us a more playful approach to the suit coat, dress shirt and tie combination, which has been embraced by today's young pop icons. Tom Cruise in Risky Business made a fashion statement with a pair of white socks and matching dress shirt. Later in the film he wears his suit coat more casually, with a black t-shirt.

The real fun comes with General Hospital-doctor-turned-pop-sensation, Rick Springfield. One of his signature looks was a wrinkled white dress shirt and colorful tie. Springfield brought a sense of frolic to suit pieces, once thought of as formal.

The fun and hip mindset has evolved to today's suits for today's young men.

Celebrity Gossip: Tom Brady gets Married, Britney's special request

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady attended the Costume Institute Gala last Tuesday, but aside from her gorgeous gown, all eyes were on her wedding ring. Bundchen actually opened up about her two weddings to the New England Patriots' quarterback. The couple said their vows in a small and intimate Catholic ceremony in LA at dusk with only immediate family attending, including Tom's son, John Edward Thomas Moynahan, and also in a super-secret ceremony last month in Costa Rica. Gisele wore a strapless gown by Dolce & Gabbana, which also made her three dogs' lace collars, which they wore.

"We tried very hard to keep it private. Oh my God, you have no idea how hard that was," Bundchen told reporters at the Costume Institute Gala. "I think family is the base to everything. I have a lot to be grateful for but I think family is definitely number one."

Bundchen might be newly married, but Sean Penn and *Robin Wright Penn*'s marriage might be over...again. Star Magazine reports that Sean filed for a legal separation from his wife in April, and in the meantime, he's been spotted getting cozy with actress Natalie Portman. The two allegedly met after serving on the Cannes Film Festival jury. Portman is 27 and Penn is 48; not that age matters. But does it matter if one person is married when you start to date? Portman and Penn reportedly started up their love affair while Penn was still married back in March. Star reported the two had dinner at Sunset Tower Hotel's Tower Bar and were "constantly touching each other." After dinner, they took elevators that went to the hotel's spa and private rooms.

What does Ms. Britney Spears demand for her hotel room while traveling on tour? Among her requests, according to USA Today, a room that has "never" been smoked in, fresh flowers, humidifiers in all areas, Marilyn Monroe movies on DVD, a variety of current magazines, chick-lit novels and 100-watt light bulbs, among other things. She won't need special pillows because she will bring her own. And security allegedly sleeps outside her room! All in the name of protecting the starlet, we guess.
