Celebrity Style: Stars Ditching Dresses for Suits

Celebrity women are ditching the dresses on the red carpet and instead are sporting power suits. In the past couple of months, there has been an increase of women celebrities wearing suits to red carpet events instead of the normal dress. Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Penelope Cruz, Naomi Watts, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, and Eva Longoria Parker have all worn suits to a red carpet event within the past couple of weeks. Another big celebrity that has been seen wearing a couple of different suits is Jennifer Aniston.

Celebrities seem to be making the suit more of a statement piece rather than a boring outfit that can only be worn to work. Celebrities know how to accessorize their suits and pick out the perfect pieces that flatter their body and make them look feminine.

To keep a suit looking feminine there are several things that celebrities do that you can also follow. The first would be to accessorize with big and bold jewelry. When Jennifer Aniston wore her black suit to the premier of her movie, she paired it with a long gold necklace that attracted attention. Amy Adams added layers of black beaded necklaces to her suit. For a look like Jennifer Aniston's try a necklace like this one by Roberto Cavalli.

Another way that celebrities like to keep their suits looking feminine and not like they are wearing their husband's suit are with tops that scream sexy and sleek. Again, look back at Jennifer Aniston's suit. She paired a black suit and wore a low cut black top underneath to add the hint of cleavage and sexiness to the outfit. Anne Hathaway also paired her black suit with a plain low-cut shell underneath which provided her with that added touch. If you don't want to go the low cut route, you can do what Naomi Watts did and pair the suit with a feminine and flirty blouse. Try blouses that have ruffles, ties, or are sheer for that added charm to the suit.

Celebrity Style: Back to Feminine and Flirty Fashion Trends

It appears that celebrities are getting back to the feminine and flirty fashion trends. One of the big fashion trends among celebrities right now are ruffles. In fact Reese Witherspoon was just seen wearing a dress with ruffles at a celebrity event. They key to wearing ruffles is to keep them from overpowering you. Like Reese's dress, a small ruffle around the neckline, especially in v-necks and lower necklines, add some feminine touches to the outfit without taking over the whole outfit. Ruffles don't have to be strictly on dresses though, they can also be on shirts, like this Robert Rodriguez one and even skirts. Other celebrities that have been wearing ruffles lately include, Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Taylor Swift, and Keira Knightley.

Another feminine fashion trend that celebrities have been following are bows. It could be a simple bow on a shoe or handbag, or one that makes a slightly larger statement on a shirt or dress. A large bow can add some interest to an outfit, but if you are not comfortable with that, you can always opt for a smaller bow for a more sophisticated look. Such celebrities as Drew Barrymore and Eva Longoria Parker have been spotted wearing dresses with large and dramatic bows. On the other hand, Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes chose to sport outfits with small bows to add some detail and a flirty touch to their outfits.

The last feminine and flirt fashion trend that celebrities have been following is the lace trend. Lace is a great way to bring out a flirty and feminine side. You can choose from a full lace outfit to just a touch of lace here and there. Lace dresses have been seen all of the red carpet along with shirts and even skirts. Celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, Emmy Rossum, and Thandie Newton have all worn lace dresses on the red carpet. When following the lace fashion trend make sure to keep the overall piece pretty subtle and not too sexy so that it does not look like lingerie. You want to be flirty and feminine not trashy.

Celebrity Style: Award Shows

It appears that color is the fashion trend for celebrities and their award shows. Celebrities have been hitting the red carpet, wearing all kinds of different colors. They seem to be kicking off the spring season with fresh blooms of color.

The Golden Globe Awards was full of color as celebrities stepped out on the red carpet. In fact, red was a popular color with celebrities like Eva Longoria Parker, Kyra Sedgwick and Julia Ormond. Other colors that dominated at the Golden Globes were the arrays of the color blue. Jennifer Morrison, Mary Louise-Parker, January Jones, Anne Hathaway and Blake Lively all wore gowns that were shades of blue.

Color ran rampant at the Grammy Awards, which are known for being a little formal. For the Grammy's, it appeared that multi-colored and patterned frocks were in. Rihanna, LeAnn Rimes and Paris Hilton all wore dresses that were multi-colored. While other celebrities such as Katy Perry and LeToya Luckett chose shades of pink for the red carpet.

The colors galore continued into Oscar night. It seemed once again red was a very popular color for the event. Amy Adams, Guliana Rancic, Heidi Klum and Virginia Madsen all donned red gowns for the event. Another popular color at the Oscars was purple, which was worn by Lisa Rinna, Alicia Keys and Natalie Portman.

Wearing color is the easiest celebrity fashion trend to follow. You may be following it right now and may not even realize it. Simply add some color into your wardrobe with shades of blue, red, purple, green and pink. Try to stay away from wearing all neutral colors like white, black, cream, tan and brown. You can even go a little more daring and try a multi-colored top like this one from Just Cavalli. This celebrity fashion trend is full of endless possibilities.

Celebrity Style: Red on the Red Carpet

The red carpet is not the only thing red among the celebrities these days. Leading ladies in Hollywood are sporting red dresses all over the red carpet. Red is a timeless color, but in certain times it becomes more or less in fashion with celebrities. Anne Hathaway is one of the latest celebrities to wear a long red dress to a red carpet event. She even got edgier with her red dress with a plunging neckline. Other celebrities who have been seen wearing red are Scarlett Johansson, Lily Allen, Miley Cyrus and of course Eva Longoria-Parker, who wore her red gown to the Golden Globes. Red is a color that suites almost anybody and can easily be pulled off and at the same time gives your look some drama. If you want to follow this celebrity fashion trend, find a red dress that suites your body shape and show it off.

Spring is definitely coming fast, and you can tell by the way the celebrities are dressing. We are seeing more and more celebrities wearing spring-like colors such as pink, purple and yellow along with some spring-like prints. Large flowers, small flowers and even geometric prints are in fashion with celebrities this spring. Such celebrities as Nicole Richie, Blake Lively, Kate Hudson, Rosario Dawson and Julianne Hough are all wearing their spring prints early. When you think about this celebrity fashion trend, think about the spring time prints that you see on Easter dresses but in a modern and updated way. A great example of this is the dresses that Just Cavalli has designed. They show off the trend with the large flower prints and the spring colors. When trying to wear this celebrity fashion trend, just be aware that some prints will make you appear larger than you are, and you may want to stick to smaller flowers and prints if you are afraid of this. But if you are confident with your body, by all means wear the big bold flowers and prints.

Celebrity Fashion: Feminine Blouse, Striped Strapless Dresses, and Crazy Patterns

What do you wear when you are going on a nice date night or to a casual holiday party? Well, you could follow the celebrity trend and try a feminine blouse. It seems like the ruffled and feminine blouse is back in fashion. It's a great option to wear to work or when you are going out. Several celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Kelly Ripa and Brooke Shields have all been bringing this fashion trend back. They key to wearing this blouse this season is to make sure that it is not too big on you and shows off your body shape. Try feminine blouses with ruffles and ties around the neck, like the blouses that Cavalli designs.

If you rather show off your body in a dress for your holiday party, try another celebrity trend with a striped, strapless dress. America Ferrera, Hayden Panettiere and Blake Lively have gone the striped-strapless-dress route and looked really great. The key to wearing a striped, strapless dress is to make sure that there are not stripes going down the entire dress, especially if the dress is tight. Instead, there should be blocks of stripes such as just along the bust line or big stripes that are actually more like blocks of color. When wearing a striped, strapless dress, keep the rest of the look simple with clean jewelry and shoes.

US Magazine threw their annual Hot Hollywood bash, and one of the biggest celebrity trends for the ladies was patterns. Every celebrity that you looked at had some sort of pattern on. There were pinstripes, paisleys, geometric patterns, leopard print and all sorts of loud and out-there patterns. It seemed like celebrities were shunning plain clothing for the night. Some of the ladies who attended the bash and wore patterns were Miranda Lambert, Ashley Tisdale, Blake Lively and Vanessa Hudgens. When wearing a pattern, especially a very bold one, make sure that you keep everything else simple, because you don't want to look like you are desperate for attention. Patterns are definitely one fashion trend that anyone can follow.

Celebrity Trends-Chop Off That Hair: Extensions Are Always An Option

Quite a few celebrities are cutting off their locks and opting for a new shorter hairstyle. With the hot months of summer ahead, cutting your hair now is not a bad idea. There are plenty of different short styles so you can pick the one that would look the best on you. There are angled bobs, layered bobs and pixie cuts just for example. If you do choose to cut your hair like a celebrity, remember that short hair needs to be trimmed more often to retain its style and cut.

Gwyneth Paltrow is probably the best example of a celebrity cutting their hair into a shorter style. Gwyneth cut off approximately 10 inches of her hair, so now it lands right above her shoulders. She went from really long straight hair to a short style with long layers. She has been seen wearing her hair wavy and straight.

Anne Hathaway is another celebrity who just cut off your locks. She went from long hair, down several inches past her shoulders, to a cut above her shoulders. She also has been seen wearing her new shorter do both curly and straight. Her hair is naturally curly, so layers were cut into her hair to make it more manageable. If you have naturally curly hair and want a short hair cut, I would recommend taking a peak at Anne's hair before heading to the salon.

Several other celebrities are rocking the short hairdos also. Katie Holmes cut her hair into a short bob a while back and recently cut it even shorter. I think that she looks more grown up with her new style and definitely does not look like Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek anymore.

Michelle Williams also has been sporting a short pixie cut for a while too. Her short blonde locks are an extreme for most people, but it does suit her well. Other stars who are sporting the short cuts include Tori Spelling, Sophia Bush, Kerry Washington, Rihanna and Christina Ricci.

So I say, go ahead and take the plunge. Follow the trend and cut your hair. There are always extensions. Isn't that what stars do anyway?

MTV Movie Awards and the People Who Dress Up for Them

Jun 10, 2008 by Tiffany B

The MTV Awards are always full of unique fashions. You can expect people wearing tennis shoes, mini-dresses, jeans and even jogging pants. The MTV Movie Awards aired on Sunday, June 1, 2008, and there were plenty of unique and interesting outfits.

Here are some of my favorite looks from the red carpet. Sarah Jessica Parker actually got it right this time. No funny hat was in sight. She wore a black metallic mini-dress made by L'Wren Scott with a pair of white ankle boots. She looked like she fit in perfect with the MTV crowd.

Another one of my favorites was Liv Tyler. The color of her dress, was the perfect shade pink for her complexion. She looked wonderful in her pink strapless dress.

Although, she is not my favorite celebrity (if you want to call her that), but Paris Hilton actually looked good at the awards. She wore a white strapless dress that had black lace over the top and then going down the bottom of it. The dress was by Betsey Johnson. She looked well put together and more mature than in the past.

For some of my favorite men, I choose Will Smith. I loved his yellow sweater with the button-up striped shirt underneath it, along with the brown jacket over it. He kept it casual in jeans, but still well styled. Another man who looked great (it's not that hard for him to do) was Johnny Depp. He kept it simple in a pair of jeans with a black button short-sleeve shirt and a brown belt, but it definitely worked for him.

Now, let's talk about some of the celebrities that I thought definitely missed the fashion bus. *Jennifer Hudson*'s dress was way to tight and when you are wearing a white dress and it is that tight, it does not flatter her at all. Not to mention, that you saw half of her pink bra sticking out at the top and half of cleavage sticking out of her bra.

Another dress that I was not crazy about was Lindsay Lohan 's purple Dolce & Gabbana mini-dress with the black belt. It just looked a little sloppy and did nothing for her. I thought that *Anne Hathaway*'s leather mini-dress just did not suit her. To me it looked like a wrinkled up garbage bag that had been made into a dress. Although, I loved her hair!

Lastly, thank goodness that Megan Fox changed her dress once she got inside the awards, because the pink Zac Posen dress that she wore on the red carpet was not a good choice. It almost looked like she was going to a high school dance. I did like the white mini-dress that she sported inside the awards.... much better Megan, much better.

Although, I did not particularly like her outfit, Ellen Page did keep it real for the awards. She wore a black leather jacket with a white shirt and black skinny jeans tucked into Nike tennis shoes. The Nike shoes were actually pretty cute with black plaid on the sides. If this is her style, then I am glad she went for it. Why try to be something you are not, right? As least not yet.

You can see pictures of the celebrities from the red carpet on MTV.com.
