The unknowing teenagers are stylin' in the not-so-sleepy town of Fell's Church without taking a big bite out of their parent's wallets. The wardrobe on The Vampire Diaries is part Retro, part casual, and more classic than trendy. The town, similar to the vampires that haunt it, seems to be a time capsule, where trends fear to tread.
Sad Girl, Cool Accessories on The Vampire Diaries
The clothing worn on The Vampire Diaries is more subtle and dreary than that worn during the the early years of another popular high school vampire show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Elena may still be grieving about her parents, but that doesn't stop her from being fashionable. She carries a Retro Abbey Road messenger style bag, perfect for carrying around a journal to write down poetry and sad thoughts. There's room enough for a school book, her phone, a wallet and a bulb of garlic, if she ever figures out that the two brothers who set her heart racing are really vampires.
For true Elena style, opt for dark denims with only one or two subtle tears. As Elena becomes even more world-weary we will see her fashion sense take on more of an edge. Swapping blue jeans for stark black jeans, red tops will find their way into her wardrobe, along with a cropped onyx leather coat, worthy of any girlfriend of a vampire.
Fashion Bites: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Before the Vampire Diaries, there was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy, as played by Sarah Michelle Gellar on the TV show was fond of the red and black combination, from red leather pants and tight black tops to black pants with sexy red tops or red leather coats. She also wore white, beige and other feminine hues to complement her darker side. She also could have used a pair of femme fatale leather boots while on her vampire killing sprees.
