Incorporating International Fashion into Your Wardrobe: French Berets

We love the French, everything about them is elegant and chic, their culture, their wines, their fashion and the list goes on. One particular fashion that has always been a French staple is the French beret, making its way into the forefront of American fashion trends this fall for women. The beret compliments any layering look.

Juicy Couture has a great selection of berets that are trendy and edgy. The wavy Stripe Ruffle Beret features metallic accents throughout its stripe pattern in a classic crochet beret. It's also available in Blue/Black or Pink/White to match any cable knit sweater you choose to wear. Juicy Couture Pailettes Beret is perhaps the most modern beret this season. All over sequin is a huge trend this season, forget the sequin dresses and instead choose this wool beret sewn with allover sequins; perfect to pair with a classic white t-shirt, solid cardigan, skinny jeans and boots. But if all of sequins is a little too much, the Juicy Couture Studded Felt Beret might be easier to wear. This classic white felt hat features gold pyramid stud detailing throughout. This beret is another fashionable piece that should be worn with a basic winter outfit.

If you choose to jazz up your attire with an embroidered sweater or a sequin jacket, then keep your beret simple. Nixon's LA Woman Beanie is available is an assortment of solid colors like yellow or red to brighten up any monochromatic or all black outfit. If you're looking for something in between flashy and simple, Lucky Brand's Mosaic Beret is a great choice. The burgundy beret features a delicate floral knit detail that's like no other. Wear this with a solid black dress over black opaque leggings and black flat boots for a feminine and fun look.

You don't have to be French to own this look. Just wear your beret in confidence and you'll look oh la la chic!

Easy Fashion Tips: What's a Girl to Shoes?

Somewhere to go and nothing new to wear... what's a girl to "shoes"? Jazz up a simple little black dress with a pair of colorful shoes in one of this season's brightest hues.

In seasons past, spring always represented corals, yellows, pinks and any other bright color in the color palette, while the darker shades were always left to fall. This year, we've seen every color down the runways, Cobalt Blue, Bright Orange, Fuchsia, whichever color you prefer, this fall season is anything but discriminating. The best way to make a fashion statement is to dress in a head to toe neutral hue and strap on a pair of bold bright stilettos.

We all remember Carrie's wedding in the Sex & The City movie (no not the big lavish one where she was stood up) but the simple wedding in city hall, with the "labeless" vintage white suit set and those stunning blue Blaniks. Re-create that same memorable look with a winter white romper and a pair of Cobalt blue sandals like Steve Madden's Taaboo or Trufle. These shoes make the ultimate stand out statement and feature a luxurious suede that's appropriate for the season.

If yellow is more your taste, opt for a pair like Report's Fillmore that look great against an all black ensemble. Michael Kors's Dauphin features a a platform and 4.5 heel for a daring look for the fashionably brave.

Shoes no longer compliment an outfit but rather complete them. Shoe designers are offering us everything from pumps to flats in a series of fun bright colors. So, the next time you feel like spicing up an outfit, take advantage of the latest trend and ditch the printed outfits and those overly eccentric embellished tops. The best styling tip of the season is to keep the basic outfit simple while drawing all the attention down to your beautiful feet.

Wear This, Not That: Knee-High Boots are Where its At!

Long Cardigans, not Short
Layer your look with a long cardigan. For a trendy look, opt for a draped front cardigan. For pure fall comfort, choose a double-breasted knit cardigan, ideal for fall foliage drives and walks through the pumpkin patch. Wear with your favorite top, leggings and ankle boots. Another option would be to wear it with a body-hugging skirt and your favorite over-the-knee boots. When wearing over-sized cardigans, keep the rest of your clothing choices form-fitting.

Get Racy with Laces
Pull-on knee-high boots are a popular choice for any time of day, but for those sultry fall nights go for a pair of lace up boots instead.

Go West, City Girl
Western style boots are back. Blame it on the prevalence of country music, the cooling temperatures, or on the astounding selection of fashionable boots available. The rich, natural camel color often seen on Western boots is a popular fashion color right now, seen on handbags and on jackets. Adventurous women will enjoy a pair of decorative Western boots, with floral designs. These decorated boots are girly and fun, for riding, walking, or line dancing.

Boho Not Biker Chic
Some women are comfortable with adding biker chic to their wardrobe. If that's not you, or you are looking for a softer approach, add some Boho, or Bohemian elements. A loose and flowing Boho style shirt with a soft floral pattern pairs well with dark denim, your favorite booties and a dark boyfriend jacket.

Decorative, not Plain
Dress up your feet in shoes that thrill you with frill. Ankle booties and pumps adorned with frills, lace edging, full floral attachments and subtle ruffles add feminine appeal.

Comfort Dress, Not Work Dress
Sweater dresses, popular in the mid 1980s are back. These dresses, similar to the sweatshirt dresses being worn right now, are comfortable and make for easy dressing. They can be worn casual with flats or suede boots, or more dressy with long strands of mismatched necklaces and gladiator heels.
