Easy Fashion Tips: Bangles are Back!

Bangles are back! These great accessories that compliment bare arms are offered in a variety of fun and fashionable styles this season. From bamboo, to charmed, to resin, jewelry designers are giving us options to covet them all.

In the past, choosing one bold styled bangle made the perfect fashion statement to any outfit; however, this season it's all about layering more on. Mixing and matching styles is the popular way to wear bangles these days, and there are no rules to what can and cannot be worn. Combine silver, gold, and gunmetal solid bangles for a metallic melting pot of bracelets. You can also choose all silver or all gold bangles with different detailing such as rhinestones, charms, or prints for an eye-catching eclectic mix. My collection of bangles has neither rhyme nor reason. It's simply a collection I've compiled over the years and am thrilled that I no longer have to be selective about which I choose to wear.

Dolce & Gabbana has a great bracelet set, offering different shapes and even one with engraved writing that reads "What goes around comes around." For a more affordable set, Jessica Simpson has designed a set of bangles blending gold and silver tones and detailed them with seed beads. I especially love Kenneth Jay Lane's collection of bangles. Offered in an assortment of animal inspired prints, these enamel bracelets look great worn in unison or merged with solid bracelets for contrast.

The only rule is not to be frugal when it comes to stacking these bracelets on your arm. The best way to make a fashionable statement is to pile them on by the dozen. Although they shouldn't reach your elbows, they should definitely meet half-way. Caution: they will make noise! But I actually enjoy the banging sound of metal that draws attention to my fabulously glamorous accessories.

Handbag Report: Summer Tips for Tote Lovers

Jun 20, 2009 by Sabah K.

Summer is finally here, which means it's time to spice up your look with some bold, fresh and funky accessories. One of the easiest ways to freshen up your look for this season is with an oversized summer tote. Tote bags are an absolute must-have for those weekend getaways and long, relaxing days by the pool. They're the ultimate carryall for all your essentials, and you can flaunt the latest trends and your unique style with the right match. Here are some tips for picking the right tote bag for the season:

1. Don't be afraid of the bold and bright. This season's hottest colors in summer totes are hot pink, orange, yellow, fuchsia, cherry red and turquoise. You don't have to stick with the neutrals for your summer bag, even if you're wearing a bold, eye-catching outfit. These totes are sure to boost your mood and get you ready for the beach in no time!

2. Do the weave. Basket-inspired totes are one of the hottest trends of the season, so take your trip to Havana and tote along a khaki-colored or light brown straw bag if you can. Straw tote bags are fun and functional, and this summer classic can be used year after year.

3. Say yes to the supersize. Oversized totes are the way to go for the season, and they're especially versatile for those days you need to pack a picnic, beach blankets, magazines and your beauty bag for the day. Look for wide straps and sturdy materials that will carry your haul for the long haul.

4. Count those pockets. The bigger the bag, the more compartments you'll need to stay organized. Make sure your tote has plenty of pockets inside and out, so you're not rifling through dozens of items just to find your sunglasses. The compartments don't have to be very large, but just big enough to keep your accessories separate.

5. Accessorize with a scarf. If you plan to wear a scarf or wrap around your head for extra sun protection, tie it around your tote as an accessory. This will add another burst of color to your look, and makes your tote look oh-so-chic!

Celebrity Style: Stars Ditching Dresses for Suits

Apr 21, 2009 by Tiffany B.

Celebrity women are ditching the dresses on the red carpet and instead are sporting power suits. In the past couple of months, there has been an increase of women celebrities wearing suits to red carpet events instead of the normal dress. Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Penelope Cruz, Naomi Watts, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, and Eva Longoria Parker have all worn suits to a red carpet event within the past couple of weeks. Another big celebrity that has been seen wearing a couple of different suits is Jennifer Aniston.

Celebrities seem to be making the suit more of a statement piece rather than a boring outfit that can only be worn to work. Celebrities know how to accessorize their suits and pick out the perfect pieces that flatter their body and make them look feminine.

To keep a suit looking feminine there are several things that celebrities do that you can also follow. The first would be to accessorize with big and bold jewelry. When Jennifer Aniston wore her black suit to the premier of her movie, she paired it with a long gold necklace that attracted attention. Amy Adams added layers of black beaded necklaces to her suit. For a look like Jennifer Aniston's try a necklace like this one by Roberto Cavalli.

Another way that celebrities like to keep their suits looking feminine and not like they are wearing their husband's suit are with tops that scream sexy and sleek. Again, look back at Jennifer Aniston's suit. She paired a black suit and wore a low cut black top underneath to add the hint of cleavage and sexiness to the outfit. Anne Hathaway also paired her black suit with a plain low-cut shell underneath which provided her with that added touch. If you don't want to go the low cut route, you can do what Naomi Watts did and pair the suit with a feminine and flirty blouse. Try blouses that have ruffles, ties, or are sheer for that added charm to the suit.
