From the Runway to Your Closet: Plaids in for Fall

For the last couple of fall and winter seasons the plaid fashion trend has become more and more popular and it appears that this fall and winter season is following suite. Plaids made a huge showing on the fashion runways for the fall season and if you have been shopping lately you probably have seen several plaid clothing and accessory items.

When some people think about plaid, the first image that comes to mind is the lumberjack look. This is the look that you want to avoid when it comes to plaid. The key to plaid is to have the clothing fitted to your body as well as feminine touches to accessories, such as shoes and handbags. A fitted plaid blazer or even pea coat is a great way to add this runway trend to your outerwear while a feminine plaid blouse makes for a great look for work or a date night outfit.

There are all types of different plaid patterns and colors, if you want to pick the colors that look the best on you. If you want something more neutral, a gray or tan plaid would be a good choice. If you want a piece of plaid clothing or an accessory that makes your outfit jump, then a red and black, or green and blue plaid, is a good way to add interest to an outfit.

There are plenty of ways to wear this runway fashion trend as it is not a hard one to incorporate into the real world. A pair of trouser jeans with a fitted white shirt paired with a plaid scarf makes for a great casual outfit. A plaid dress that has a feminine touch with ruffles or a bow can make for a great option for work or even a party dress. If you are leery about having that much plaid on your body, then try for more subtle touches such as a solid colored dress with plaid shoes or a plaid handbag.

There are so many options to explore with this fall runway trend. One style that you may want to avoid with this trend is pairing two different plaids together or mixing plaid with another pattern. This makes for way too busy of an outfit and is better left on the runways than in your closet.

From the Runway to Your Closet: Funky Yet Fabulous Shoes

One of the most notable fashion trends on the runway for this year was funky and interesting shoes. Gone are the days of plain black or tan pumps. Instead, the fashion runways are full of models sporting shoes with cut-out designs, hidden platforms, buckles, zippers, floral appliqués, fringe and sky-high heels.

This runway fashion trend is one of the easiest to pull off. You could be a mother of five or a fashionista in college and pull off this trend. The best part is that you don't have to be a size 0 to wear trendy shoes. In fact, some of these funky shoes will actually take attention away from your problem areas, making you appear slimmer. What woman doesn't like that? Shoes with sky-high heels and platforms can also do a great job at making you appear slimmer and taller. The only thing that you have to worry about is being able to walk in the shoes. One word of advice: before wearing these types of shoes out in public, be sure to wear them around the house and get used to walking in them.

When looking to follow this runway fashion trend, look for shoes that are interesting and don't look like anything you have seen before. Look for shoes that have straps going in all different directions or ankle boots that have cut-outs to make them look more like sandals. Also, accents like bows, zippers, studs, and fringe are another aspect to look for in funky shoes. The more interesting and intriguing the shoes are, the better.

Funky shoes can be worn with just about any outfit. They can peak out of a pair of jeans or add total drama when paired with a short dress. A pair of interesting shoes can take you through the whole summer and even into fall. When you follow this fashion trend of funky shoes, you will have people dying to know where you got your shoes from. You can be the center of attention simply for your good taste in fashion.
