Could there be two men on more completely different ends of the closet than Tim Gunn and Woody Harrelson? Whenever Tim Gunn pops into the work room on Project Runway he looks red-carpet and camera ready. Dapper and dashing, Tim Gunn is the epitome of classic men's style. On the other side of the male wardrobe spectrum is Woody Harrelson, who mans it up in Zombieland. Interestingly, Harrelson a hand in selecting his wardrobe for the new zombie film.
Dapper Tim Gunn
The genius of Tim Gunn's wardrobe is that while he always looks dashing and well-dressed, in a Cary Grant sort of way, he also looks comfortable. He melds well with his clothing choices, and one could easily imagine Tim Gunn in a pair of comfortable denim-colored loafers while enjoying the weekend.
Ties are normally a staple in the Tim Gunn wardrobe, as are dress shirts. While at the latest runway show, Tim Gunn may be seen wearing a black leather coat, styled like a suit coat, to complement an all-black outfit.
Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee
Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee in Zombieland is ready for action. One of the unstated rules (as opposed to his verbalized rules) must be: dress for comfort, dress for action. The Tallahassee outfit starts with a pair of low-waisted jeans, with some obvious tatters, but not too many.
Add a t-shirt, but not just any t-shirt. The t-shirt, like the man, needs a bit of character. A t-shirt that looks stone-washed, and has a v-neck instead of a crew neck is more interesting than a plain shirt. Toss in some Crocodile Dundee inspired accessories, including a couple of wooden bead necklaces, worn boots and an uncommon hat. To add to the effect, Tallahassee wears fabrics resembling animal skin, another visual reference to Dundee.
Mix and match the deft and the dapper, and do what Tim and Woody do: make it work.
