So the first thing you'll see coming in our front doors is the Zollar Store on your left.

We have our own inhouse scrip, called Zollars, that is used as a token of appreciation for being WOWful and for participating in culture events. You can redeem Zollars for the cool, fun stuff in the cabinet. Can you see the desktop football goal post on the third shelf from the top? It comes with a leatherette triangle football that you kick with your finger - ah childhood memories. We've got a rotating mix of apparel items, a mean Halloween rubber ducky, license plate frame, insignia metal business card case, portable fan and even doggie shirts. Check out our pets page!

Next you'll see our popcorn machine and the front desk proper. The flat panel shows what's going on with our sales and the main website. I was at the front desk when a balloon delivery came in - who am I to look a gift balloon in the mouth? <shutter click!>

Turning further left you'll see the door to our Legal and Marketing depts, a flat panel showing our Kentucky Fulfillment Center operations, a bookcase with some of our suggested reading books, our little red wagon, a beverage cooler and the Dance Dance Revolution machine. See I told you inside was a trip - and baby, we've only just begun...

World's Fastest Parade...

Okay so I’ve mentioned before that we have these impromptu “parades” here at Zappos right? Well we had a funny one recently by the Running Group. Tara is holding the “World’s Fastest Parade” sign and the group is getting ready to run through our CLT area on the 2^nd^ floor. Mike’s on the megaphone and he announced what was going on as the group ran down the halls. (no scissors were involved) They spread cheer to both our buildings and this was one of the few pictures that wasn’t blurry – yes they were that fast!

Smile You Big Ape!

So today I drove the Pink Ape Suit Guy in our golf cart up to the other building. I guess people in our office park have led sheltered lives and haven't seen a guy in a pink gorilla suit riding a golf cart before. I mean it's not like he was driving the cart. We got a lot of double takes. We could just tell some of the people were thinking “there go those Zappos people again…”

When we got to the other building there were more photo opps than you could shake a bunch of bananas at.

Pirate Beaver Boa Rubber Chicken Birthday

Okay so birthday celebrations are serious business at Zappos.com.

Streamers, balloons, glitter, all kinds of decorations and pranks are pulled when it’s your birthday. This young fellow, quite new to Zappos but jumping with both feet, exemplified the Zappos Tradition. Somebody supplied him with a rubber chicken and some others made both a beaver tail and a beaver mask. I am not sure where the pirate hat and the feather boa came from and Scout’s Honor, I was afraid to ask.

Year of the Rat

Chinese New Year has come and gone and so we've welcomed in the Year of the Rat. Anyone else reminded about the song "The Year of the Cat" by Al Stewart in 1976? Anyway our Marketing Department put on a parade. They dressed in red, put on some rat noses, borrowed some lion heads from our Private Label group, filled some baskets with fortune cookies, fired up the boom box and off they went. I tried to keep up with them as they paraded through the building and tossing the fortune cookies. Well done and “Kung Hee Fa Choy!” or “Gung Hey Fat Choy!”

Zappos Virtual Tour - Day 1

Feb 19, 2008 by John H.

Hey, so today we'll start a virtual tour of Zappos in Las Vegas. Several days a week, we'll share a picture or two and some tidbits. And after we're done here, it's off to Kentucky to see the action out there.

Here's today's picture.

http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/1102/P1010344b.jpg

Early one morning, I caught one of our Marketing people on her way in and asked her to pose for a picture. We don't have the balloon arch every day - hardly ever actually so I am pretty happy how this picture came out. It got windy soon after and most of the balloons popped or went flying away.

Zappos HQ is in a fairly new office complex. We currently occupy 2 buildings. We also have our 3 outlet stores. The outside is fairly generic but wait till you see inside! You can see our golf cart shuttle for hauling stuff between buildings. We also have a little red wagoon. I crack up everytime I see it. We're going to have the golf cart decorated soon - pictures will follow! So that's Day 1!

Behind the scenes with Zappos.com and Universal Studios!

Recently we visited Universal Studios to film our soon-to-be new TV commercial. As far as TV commercials go this one rules, and I say this not because I work at Zappos, but because it just feels so good (and the song is so stuck in my head)! Short of giving too much away about it, I will share the below pics. But true to Zappos form it is certainly feel good, be weird, and very Zappos! I'll just leave you a little hanging to see more :-)
