We had our first ever BBQ contest this past week at Zappos. It was organized by Nick, one of our grill masters from the Product Info Team Building picnic back in March. We had 7 teams enter. Here’s a view of them in action behind our main building.
There were 3 categories - “Anything but Meat,” Chicken, and Pork. Each team had to have an entry in every category. Most teams were setup and cooking by 8 in the morning. The “Anything but Meat” was judged at 11AM, then the Chicken at Noon and the Pork at a bit after 2. First place went to Duron and Ernie. One tip off might have been the long line of people waiting to get some of their fajitas. Loren the hotdog eating champ (yeah he won again this year) was kind of bummed because he was hoping for a clean sweep. Loren also won our chili
contest (making it, not eating it) several months ago but Duron was right on his tail with 2nd place. Nick plans on holding this contest again next year. It’s certain to be bigger and better!
