Nibble the Half-Byte

We, the C-Shift of Tech Support, have created life, and we shall call him… Nibble.

Nibble T. Half-Byte is our floppy haired new friend that was created out of madness, err… out of creating fun and a little weirdness. C-Shift (Blake and Kristy) each work alone except for one night a week. We get lonesome on some of the quiet nights as we work on our projects. It gets tough not having anyone immediately available to bounce ideas off of, and not having someone there when you’re thinking too hard about how to resolve an issue to tell you ‘Hey, silly, plug in the power cord!’. For these moments, Nibble is there for us. Don’t let his goofy exterior fool you; he’s a very intelligent and complex Tech Support Rep Jr..

Nibble The Half-Byte’s Bio

Hi! My name is Nibble, I work in Tech Support. I specialize in staring issues straight in the face and… well, waiting until staring fixes it. I am also a great tamer of the mischievous Kiva bots. I am a very hard worker and I love being part of the team. I resolve tickets in creative ways; usually I just throw myself into it (literally, as I have no arms to do much else). I love to have fun and frolic about the warehouse. I recently went on an outing with the team. We rode the conveyor coaster, played hide and seek, and worked on the world record for the biggest rubber band ball EVER! I also met a lot of new friends. Most people don’t quite understand me, and I love Zappos because everyone here accepts me for who I am. If you’re ever in KY and need some help with your computer stop by and I’ll help ya out!
Your friend,
Nibble

Split Shift has the Spirit

Jun 5, 2009 by Michele K

In order to keep Zappos a great place to work, employees continue to find ways to live our core values. One of our 10 core values is #7: "Build a positive team and family spirit." The Kentucky Fulfillment Center came up with a culture baton to represent this.

The objective of passing this CV #7 culture baton was to get to know some of our co-workers a little better. Split Shift was given the opportunity to invite another group in the KYFC to enjoy some good ol' hospitality! When you think of a family gathering, what comes to mind - FOOD! That's always my favorite part about 'em!

So, in the passing of our baton, and building a Team and Family Spirit, the group decided to bring in desserts to enjoy with the PM Part-timers. Cakes, cookies and more. Boy, they were super delicious, too!

We ended the gathering by inviting them into our family portrait, which is now posted on our "Important Stuff" board for all to see!

Book Cleaning at Zappos.com

The Zappos Finance Department teamed up with Spread the Word Las Vegas to help Clean books for At Risk Children in Southern Nevada. Spread the Word gathers gently used books from Children who have outgrown them, find groups to help clean them, and place them into hands of children who may have never had a book to call their own. We feel this not only helps our Community, but also helps the finance team to build a positive team and family spirit.

Caffeine Overload!!!

Melissa L. wasn't always a Blogger, she actually started as a member of the Zappos Help Desk. She wasn't necessarily "Cut out" for her original position, and some say it had something to do with her excessive caffeine intake. We are very happy that things didn't work out for Melissa at the Help Desk, because we wouldn't know what to do without her!!

Bowl for Kids' Sake!

Apr 9, 2009 by Christina Y

For the second year in a row, Zappos.com employees got together for the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Bowl for Kids’ Sake. This is a major fund raiser for BBBS. Bowlers were required to raise $80 in pledges to participate. Zappos.com once again showed its commitment to the employees and community by pledging $60 to each employee that bowled. 34 employees turned out for the event raising $2,732. A Big shout out to Mi K. for being the top fundraiser with $180.

The day was a success! Professional bowlers and some not-so-professional bowlers alike bowled side by side. But, it wasn’t about the highest score; it was about raising money for the kids and having fun at the same time. While most of us barely broke triple digit scores, we all laughed until it hurt!

CLT Completes Their Core Value Wall!

Apr 3, 2009 by Jason C.

So a couple week ago, the CLT department set up an entire wall in their department for all of them to create ideas of what they think our core values mean to them. Each month a different team will decorate the wall under the core value they are given.

This was the very first month this was done, so check out what they came up with. Coming soon, Zappos Insights will be talking to each team to find out a little more about their creations.

Spring is here! It's Content Team Picnic time!

Mar 26, 2009 by Hannah E.

The Zappos Content Team took advantage of the warming temperatures and kicked off spring with the very first "Content Team Olympics".

Grillmasters Nick and Rico worked their "grill skills" cooking up their famous BBQ treats, while the Content Team Olympics started off with a good ‘ol fashion sack race, followed by a heated game of Pictionary.

There was also a horseshoe toss competition, which proved a lot harder than it looks. Luckily, there were no horseshoe-related injuries. Then came Nick's game of Ring Toss...which turned out to be physically impossible...but everyone had a great time nonetheless! (Next time, no more ring toss Nick!)

But the most challenging and arguably the funniest of all the day's events was Rico's Crazy Relay Race! Contestants had to weave through cones holding an egg in a spoon...sounds easy enough, right? Well, they also had to eat three crackers and proceed to whistle and spin around a baseball bat five times and then carry the egg back through the course. The results, as one would guess, were hilarious.

The Content Team picnic was definitely a great way to kick off the weekend and build team and family spirit. Food, drinks, good friends, and friendly competition always equal a good time!

CLT's New Core Value Wall

Mar 24, 2009 by Jason C.

Zappos' Customer Loyalty Team continues to find new ways to keep the core values at the top of everyone's mind for all of their team members. Their latest project is a core value wall, which all of their different teams will be participating in each month.

This gives them the opportunity to not only share their views and feelings about the core values, but also helps anyone that is new or visiting Zappos for the first time to have a better understanding of what they are all about.

Dilemmas, dilemmas.....for this is Spirit Week here in the Zappos Offices, but Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day. So, Zappos employees had a choice to make....Go Green for the Irish or Blue for Zappos. And we tracked down those participating and asked them how they made their choice.

Max Enjoys a good read as much as the next person, but when he puts his book away he insists on a bookshelf. Max has created a Book shelf out of recycled Thumb Tacks, and we would love to show you how he did it! This "Do it Yourself" idea is certainly soon to catch on around the office.
