Facilities has a Suprise Party for Patti!

Our facilities department is a very important part of our Zappos team. Every other department here relies on them in some way on a daily basis. They are always asked to help out with projects around the office, and they are always more than willing to help. One of the reasons they are so great is their supervisor Patti C. She has been with Zappos for four years, and is loved by everyone.

Today was Patti's birthday, and her team in the facilities department decided to surprise her with a pot luck. Thank you Patti for everything you do for all of us!

One on One Basketball Game!

Rachael and Ray are usually seen running all around the Zappos office, delivering packages to everyone. The receiving department is constantly busy with deliveries, so when they have a few extra minutes, they like to enjoy a quick game of basketball.

Ray came up with a great contraption for their basketball hoop, and from the looks of things, Rachael is teaching him a thing or two about the game.

Things on my Desk, with Kacee N.

Kacee works in the shipping and receiving area here at Zappos corporate office. If you walk back into her area, all you will normally see is stacks and stacks of Zappos boxes throughout the room.

If you take the time to venture through the maze of boxes, in a small corner of the room, is house that Kacee built. If you make that far, you'll see the heart of all shipping in and out of the Vegas.

The Zappos Lunchroom Nacho Test

Mar 5, 2009 by Melissa L.

Our facilities team have been working hard trying to change our soup, salad and sandwich bar lunchroom into a fully functioning kitchen so that they can make us some tasty lunch treats and so much more.

This week they have been testing out new lunch items that they will potentially add to a weekly menu. Tuesday's tasty tester was a nacho buffet, and the way the instant line formed out of the lunchroom, I'd say it's a hit. Honestly, who isn't a fan of pure nacho goodness?

Now traditionally Zappos lunches have been provided free of charge, but the big question Tuesday was: How much would you pay for a plate of Nachos? As of right now, $3 seems to be an agreeable rate.

Monday the facilities department served Philly cheese steak sandwiches in the Zappos lunchroom. This was part of a test for the future of the Zappos Lunch Room. They will be testing items throughout the week, in order to make some decisions on the new items we may be getting soon.

Dave, our facilities manager, tells us more about the program.

Department of WOW: Facilities!

Mar 2, 2009 by Melissa L.

There's a new WOW on the block and it's called: Department of WOW!

Have you ever had trouble choosing just one person for Wow Parking or Zappos Employee of the Week, because there were so many people in the dept that helped you out? Well, now you have a chance to recognize the whole department! Each month the winning Dept of Wow will "Pass the Torch" by selecting a new DEPT of WOW and also update the DEPT of WOW boards in 2280 & 2290.

It's up to the nominating department that chooses the next DEPT of WOW whether they would like to appreciate the winning department further with any additional perks (i.e. Thank You card, bagel breakfast, hosted potluck, etc).

This month's department of WOW couldn't deserve it more. They are the ones that make sure our favorite eats are in the lunchroom, ship and receive our packages, help keep Zappos clean and our days bright.

Facilities, we salute you!

Zappos.com, Powered by Generators?

You Heard right, Our 2280 office building has a Generator capable of powering the entire building in case of a power outage! Our very own Facilities team inspects it daily and runs it for 30 minutes once a week to ensure it is ready in case of an Emergency. Not only does this allow us to work if the electricity goes out, it also allows our customers to continue to place orders! If you're a fan of Chocolate Milk, you will also be happy to know that it will stay fresh and cold in the cooler if we happen to lose power! Bottoms up!

Our world famous Zappos singing group has struck again today in honor of our beloved Miss Patty, the Queen of Facilities!

The Zappettes were hired by Zack in Help Desk to deliver a singing happy birthday wish to Patty, whose birthday was actually Tuesday, but it's the thought that counts! The Zappettes are hired by Zappos employees to deliver the singing birthday messages, and all proceeds are given to charity.

Keep it up you vocal wonders!

Marketing Moving on Up! (or Over, if you wanna be like that)

Brand Marketing has left the building… well not really, we just left our former spot.
{Insert “Moving” by Supergrass here} We’re driving and embracing our new department, our new home and our new intern. Exciting!

For those of you feeling a little lost and looking for the newly promoted, Senior Marketing Coordinator Holly O. can be easily located in new Brand Marketing Room. Curious George helped us ring in Holly’s promotion and our new room, as you can see below. We are located in the room, next to the room, next to the old Development spot. It’s like the womb of Zappos.

As we take our journey to the East side of the building, we felt strongly that we form a more perfect union and grow our departmental chi. With the help of free paint from Miss Patti and a disheveled Feng Shui chart found randomly on Google, we have re-organized our chi to look a little something like this.
