My Mythology - Creating our own living legacy at Zappos.

One of the joys about working at Zappos is the freedom to be ourselves through our own personal style. Style shouts! Individuals identify themselves through their personal style. Taking the chaos out of the closet and using clothing as a celebration to create personal mythology or legend is something I have been fascinated by.

What is someone trying to say through their style?

Join me in the discovery. Each week I will take an employee from Zappos and find out their personal psychology through their favorite outfits.

Today we study the mythology of Angela C. Content Manager for the Casual Content Team.
http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/38-4854-3045/Angela1.jpg

How would you define your look?
Casual, easy and laid back.

What inspires your style?
Time and comfort.

Who is your favorite designer?
I am not big on brand names (or people names) but right now I am really feeling Stoned Cherrie and Klûk & CGdT. They are both South African.

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
Earrings!!

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Usually I am inspired by the reflection in the mirror … but today I can settle for Angelique Kidjo.

What are your favorite labels?
PF Flyers and Converse are life changing, American Apparel and Banana Republic make some fantastic tees and I really like Irregular Choice. I wonder what IR’s clothes would look like?

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
I dress for comfort and ease. I also tend to overdress (like scarves in the summer) but that is a blog for another day.

What is your favorite decade for style?
1920’s + 1970’s

What is your favorite fabric?
It is a tie between linen and cotton. Both because they are breathable and don’t usually need to be ironed.

Which watch?
I don’t wear watches.

What brand of denim do you prefer?
Whatever fits or requires the least amount of alterations.

What is your favorite color?
Black. However, I am trying to embrace more color.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
If I love it I buy it doesn’t matter what it is. I am stingy with the love though.

CC Skye or Judith Jack ?
CC Skye.

What is your favorite brand of denim?
Those that need the least tailoring :D

High heels or flats?
High heels believe it or not.

Which bag?
I have this one Laundry by Shelli Segal bag that I got for my sister but then decided to keep for myself … she knows about it and brings it up whenever she remembers.

Sunglasses?
I had these really nice pair of Black Flys which I lost in Kenya this past December.

What is your favorite brand on Zappos?
Irregular Choice – I have 3 pairs and counting.

What are your fashion rules?
Dress to fit your body, always use a mirror and avoid giving your audience vertigo.

D&G Dolce and Gabbana or Marc by Marc Jacobs?
This one is really hard but I would have to go with Marc by Marc Jacobs.

What is your favorite gemstone?
Black onyx.

Andrew Hamilton Crawford or Tarina Tarantino?
Tarina Tarantino

I know you love earrings. What style of earrings are your favorite? Hoops, studs, chandelier?
I don’t really wear studs, but it would have to be hoops with chandeliers coming in at a very close second.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
I am not opposed to it.

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
I don’t think I have the patience to make it worthwhile.

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
It would have to be shoes and my hair. I try not to spend a lot of money on just one thing because I get bored really quick. I guess I have style A.D.D so I just don’t get my money’s worth!! I am a practical girl after all.

http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/38-4765-3029/natasha.jpg

How would you define your look?
Punk Rock Girl Grows Up.

What inspires your style?
Magazines, TV shows (some old, some new) and what I am planning to do that day.

Who is your favorite designer?
I love the thinking behind Versace, Azzedine Alaia and Hussein Chalayan

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
A second pair of shoes. A girl needs to be prepared!
Oh! And I always have a little something leopard print with me too!

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Hmmm…I like to reference Nancy Sinatra (ala 1960’s), Scarlet Johannsen (current), Barbara Eden (ala I Dream of Jeanie days), and Lady Bunny (everyday).

What are your favorite labels?
Milly, Nanette Lepore and Betsey Johnson.

Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen?
I can’t choose! I admire and revere both of them.

Tarina Tarantino or Andrew Hamilton Crawford?
That’s like asking which child I like best!!!

Tarina’s jewelry just makes me smile! There’s a sense of humor in her work and it always makes people ask about it. If you don’t get it, you never will.

And AHC is totally different, In my opinion Andrew Hamilton Crawford epitomizes the new trend of mothers and daughters sharing the same clothing, jewelry and trends. It’s hip, current and at the same time classic.

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
I’m a big believer in the idea that if you look good, you feel good. I think it’s important to be true to yourself and your style. I’ve had things in my closet that are 10 years old (that still fit, thank God!) and I love them ‘til this day, some were super cheap and some weren’t, but I love them all the same and can mix them up together.

What is your favorite decade for style?
Early to mid 1960’s.
The shift dress, hairspray and hair dye are the best inventions ever!

What is your favorite fabric?
Pony fur! I’d cover my walls in it if I could!

Which celebrity would you like to be able raid their closet ?.
Rachel Zoe, she just about has freakin’ everything in there! I could play for days….

What brand of denim do you prefer?
I’m still looking and trying so hard….but for nowpaper denim & cloth and 7 for All Mankind, though I plan on attempting True Religion, Joe’s and Rock & Republic. I’m only 5 pounds away from a shopping trip!

Fishnets or opaque tights?
Practical me-OPAQUE
Fun me- FISHNETS

Kitten heels, 3”, 4”, 5”, or 6” heels?
Kitten for the average day, 4” for Nightcrawls, and 6” for lounging and having someone bring me my cocktails while I perch.

What is your favorite color?
Pink and Gold

What is your favorite gemstone?
Opal.Rockabilly or Psychobilly?
Psychobilly.

Goth or Neo-Romantic?
A combo.

Punk or preppy?
Punk.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
I’m trying to change my habits. I splurged on whatever I liked pre-2009, but I’m really trying to change my habits. Instead of lots of little things I am planning on making one big purchase this year…I’ll let you know when I do……

Do you need to take out a second mortgage for your style?
I was heading down that path, but am really trying to change my ways…..

Diamonds or pearls?
I can get down with both…different occasions, different looks!

Which bag?
Please see “splurge” comment above. It’s a secret for now!

Sunglasses?
Oh yeah! Am becoming an expert in this field now! But more than sunglasses, I am spying some of the Betsey Johnson readers. I don’t exactly need to wear readers, but they are so cute, and would expand my librarian wardrobe options.

Which fragrance?
Believe it or not, I have never been able to shake the 90’s Versace fragrance, Blonde. They stopped making it years ago, but I have sealed stashes of it in my house in a cool, dry place. I also love Creed’s Indiana.

What is your favorite item you’ve ever bought at Zappos.com?
OOH! Hmmm….so many…..I have these great Moschino patent heels that have a clear pvc vamp and say, “chic” across it. They combine everything I like!
But I get a ton of mileage from a pair of $40 Volatile wedges. I’m serious! And I can prove how comfy they are because there are at least 15 other girls in the office who bought 3 pairs themselves! I’m telling you, they’re like sneakers!

What is your favorite brand on Zappos.com?
Probably Betsey Johnson, it’s always new and colorful.

What are your fashion rules?
Anchor it with black,
Throw in some leopard here and there,
prairie skirts have no place in my world.
If it looks natural, why bother?!?

What is the most you’ve spent on a handbag?
See “splurge” comment above.

Would you set foot in a thrift store?
Oh yes! I tend to be drawn to the housewares and art sections.
I get addicted to going to thrift stores now and then. I have to force myself to hold back.

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
Poodles. Love Poodle statues! I cannot tell you how many 1950’s spaghetti poodle statues I have!
And the colors!

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
I really don’t want to admit this in writing, nor do I really want to admit this to myself.

One of the joys about working at Zappos is the freedom to be ourselves through our own personal style. Style shouts! Individuals identify themselves through their personal style. What are your favorite labels?
Corpus, American Apparel, Insight, Ted Baker and Marc Jacobs. I recently became obsessed with the Swedish style and their labels like Cheap Monday, Acne, and Uniformsforthededicated.

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
I like to change up my style every now and then. I don’t like to feel one dimensional, I believe I can pull off any style, any piece. I often wipe my closet clean, keep the keepers and get rid of everything else and get a whole new look. My clothes often express how feel.

Is this a trick question? I think I better say Vivienne…

Black tie, bow tie, skinny tie or bolo tie?
If I had more of them, I would wear a bow tie everyday!

Sunglasses?
I like them but I always lose/break them so I have completely lost hope with sunglasses.

Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood?
I knew it was a trick question!

What are your fashion rules?
I try not to match. I do tend to break this often because it very easy to believe that you should match but I really don’t like to.

Man bags or man jewelry?
Man bags.

Cats or dogs?
Meow.

Argyles or paisleys?
Argyle.

Briefs or boxers?
I was boxer-briefs for awhile but I have recently switched to briefs for reasons not to be stated

I’d have to say yes since it is basically the only stores I do shop in.

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
Oh there is so many… The best stuff I have found has been furniture like my lamp on my nightstand, I can only describe it as amazing! Oh, just the other weekend I found some little bikes made out of beer cans.

I cannot recall a single item but I did spend over a $800.00 in my favorite store once.

How would you define your look?
Proletariat-chic

Internal hard drive. The transfer speeds are much faster than external USB drives and flash drives are too expensive for the storage space.

What golfer doesn't love birdies?

What inspires your style?
I get inspired by people who wear t-shirts or layer long sleeves under t-shirts and wear the same jeans and sneakers every day.

Is Hanes a designer?

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
Cigarettes.

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Kevin Federline.

What are your favorite labels?
Wrangler, Faded Glory, Hanes, Levi, Route 66

Cotton.

Whatever color free Zappos t-shirts come in that day.

How would you define your look?
I’m kind of all over the place. I like flashy/bright pieces that nobody else will wear, but I also like being comfortable in whatever I’m wearing. I usually have a little bit of So-Cal steeze or 80’s craze going on..

What inspires your style?
Bright colors and unique pieces you don’t see everyone wearing. Also, the weather and how I’m feeling that day.

Who is your favorite designer?
Betsey Johnson, Marc Jacobs and Charlotte Ronson

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
Jewelry, usually gold and something big and funky

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Gwen Stefani always looks fabulous and so well put together. I love how her style has evolved over the past 10 years and how she incorporates new trends into her own signature style. Nicole Richie usually has a good knack for incorporating trend pieces into her personal style without causing too much of a mess as well.

What are your favorite labels?
L.A.M.B., Betsey Johnson, Luxirie

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
So-Cal beach with a little edge maybe..

What is your favorite decade for style?
I think the ‘70s was a great decade for fashion and more than just a time for free love and long hair, peace signs, and leather fringe. A lot of the pieces that are hot right now borrow looks from the Woodstock days, and I love throwing on a fun vest or extra wide leg jeans to add a little sass to the day.

What is your favorite fabric?
I love lace. Black lace is hot, especially layered over other fabric

Which watch?
Vestal’s Gold Fairamay or a gold L.A.M.B.

What brand of denim do you prefer?
Luxirie always has something fun and crazy going on with their denim to “make” your outfit.

What is your favorite color?
Black and hot pink.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
Jewelry! I have a weakness for jewelry, especially if it’s one of my favorite designers. I usually don’t even look at the price tag or contemplate.. impulse buying at its finest!

Gore-Tex or Omni-Dry ?
Omni dry.

Neons or neutrals?
Neons!

Cowboy hats or cowboy boots?
Cowboy boots. I have some awesome shark skin boots my grandma gave me that she bought 25 years ago

Which bag?
Marc Jacobs and Volcom have great oversized bags.

Sunglasses?
Always, especially out here. Oversized or aviators.

What is your favorite sport to participate in?
Running and any of the boardsports. I can’t wait for snow sessions this year!

What are your fashion rules?
If you like it, make it work. If it still doesn’t work, it’s not meant to.

Man bags or man jewelry?
So long as it’s not a fanny pack, man bags are alright. Jason L. knows how to rock his man bag!

Rave or emo?
Neither? Raving was big in Portland when I was growing up and I think the combination of candy necklaces and JNCO’s scared me a little bit.

Shorts or skorts?
Are skorts still around? I’m going to have to go with shorts.

Cowl neck sweaters or sweater sets?
Cowl necks..not a huge fan of that much matching. I love layering though, and cowl necks are perfect for that.

Glossy or matte?
Depends. Usually glossy, but not if it’s patent.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
Yes! Portland has some great spots that I like to check out when I’m up there.

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
Awesome vintage leather jacket for like 15 bucks. I think there was an old ticket to the Los Angeles zoo in one of the pockets.

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
1,000 on a Robert Lee Morris cuff.

My all-time fave is Christian Dior, but some of my favorite contemporary designers are Zac Posen, Alexander Wang , Charlotte Ronson and Marc Jacobs…oh! and I can’t forget—TOM FORD!

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
Underwear…just kidding. I’d say jewelry. On days I do forget to wear jewelry, I feel naked.

Haha! I’m no haole…I can get down with the slippahs and shorts any day…just not in the office!

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style? Laid-back beach bum meets high-maintenance Vegas chick? Yeah…let’s go with that!

What is your favorite decade for style?
My favorite era for style and everything else is the 60s, and early (PRE-DISCO!) 70s.

What is your favorite fabric?
Cotton (Supima cotton to be exact)

Pleasers or Naughty Monkey?
Oh boy…Naughty Monkey, but Pleasersfor Halloween!

What is your favorite color?
I have three I can’t live without, grey, black and white! Are those even colors?

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
Handbags and Jeans

Do you need to take out a second mortgage for your style?
In this economy? Never!

Diamonds or pearls?
I don’t wear either

Trina Tarantino or Gasoline Glamor?
Tarina of course! She’s fabulous.

Which bag?
Bulga, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Kooba…I just like bags in general!

Sunglasses?
I love my Ray Bans, but I buy cheapies and vintage sunglasses too

What are your fashion rules?
If you can’t drink beer and still be comfortable in it, your outfit is too tight!

What is the most you’ve spent on a handbag?
800 bucks, Dior logo saddle bag, which I sadly never wear anymore.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
Of course!

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
Someone found it for me….this Moschino dress!!

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
That aforementioned Dior bag. I don’t know how I afforded it…I was a broke college student!

How would you define your look?
Where’s Waldo meets American Apparel.

What inspires your style?
I am super tall and super skinny, so anything long and lean.

Who is your favorite designer?
None currently, but I did like the design team behind Esprit in the late 80s and early 90s – Alice Heller, I think her name was.

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
Funny because I frequently have nightmares about this very topic. I usually don’t leave my house without wearing some sort of pants or shorts.
Chaps at the least.

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Vegas Vic and Buffalo Bob Smith.

What are your favorite labels?
American Apparel, Earnest Sewn, Rock and Republic and any vintage western wear brand.

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
I like co-workers to look at my outfit and think to themselves, “Didn’t he wear that yesterday?” I probably did, but I’ll never tell. Wait! I just did. Oh dip!

What is your favorite decade for style?
I have to say that I really like the puke greens and the burnt oranges of the 70s.

What is your favorite fabric?
Cotton! Thank you Eli Whitney.

Which watch?
I don’t wear watches, but Cat S. on the Athletic team gave me a cool OBEY watch. Wasn’t that just so sweet of her?

What brand of denim do you prefer?
Please refer to the second and sixth question! Thanks.

What is your favorite color?
Green.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
First, let me tell you that I consider $97 splurging. Now that we have that out of the way, I would splurge on a great fitting pair of designer jeans.

Kid Robot bags, apparel, or toys ?
Kid robot jewelry!

Fixed gear or freewheel?
If I say free-wheel, my friend Brandon will get mad at me and skid on my face, so I’ll say fixed-gear (even though I am a free-wheel kind of guy). How’s that for some critical sass?

Black tie, bow tie, skinny tie or bolo tie?
Skinny tie for the skinny guy.

Which bag?
Military-issued mask, chemical and biological messenger bag.

Sunglasses?
I usually don’t wear any, but I probably should considering my future is so bright.

Maui Jim or Ray-Ban's?
I used to have Maui Jim glasses, but now I prefer Paul Frank ‘Crafty Engineer’ glasses.

Paris Hilton or Playboy?
Oh boy! If I say Playboy, Paris will get upset, but if I say Paris, the bunnies will get upset. Um, you may have to ask me this again next time I’m in the grotto and have had a few martinis.

What are your fashion rules?
I just have one: Try to remember not to wear my Ed Hardy clothes.

What would you consider a fashion faux pas?
I would say the rat tail, but I’ve had one during my adult life, so…

Man bags or man jewelry?
Man bags with American flags, zig-zags and dish rags. I just wanted to rhyme.

What women’s style do you admire?
Keira Knightley is pretty hot, I mean has style that I admire.

What beer do you consider fashionable?
My favorite beer is Hitachino Nest beer – white ale. The Japanese know how to brew, dude.

Emo or grunge?
Emo, but the trick to dying your hair with kool-aid is adding a little ketchup. Trust me, I read it on the Internet.

What band do you consider fashionable at the moment?
I have to give props to my main man, David Bazan (Pedro the Lion).

Crew neck or V-neck?
I’m trying to grow pectoral muscles so I look better in American Apparel deep V-necks. My goal is to have massive pects like Brandon A. and Mike F.

Briefs or boxers?
Diesel Briefs!

Andrew Buckler or Diesel?
I am not really a sexy bastard, so I am going to say Diesel.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
Yes, in fact, I would set my whole body in one.

What is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
I found a vintage Christian Dior sweater that I love. It’s pink and has a V-neck to show off my man muscles.

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
I forget how much, but it was for a Betsey Johnson bag and shoes. Let’s just say that I’m a nice boyfriend. ;)

Today we study the mythology of Rico N. : Senior Manager of the Content Department at Zappos.com.

http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/38-3687-2712/rico-blog.jpg

How would you define your look?
It depends on how I feel that morning.

What inspires your style?
Basics and street art.

John Varvatos.

Watch/Hat… They are both attached to me at all times.

Who are your fashion/style icons
Style icons? I don't really pay attention.

What are your favorite labels?
Beautiful Decay, American Apparel, Vans, and Goorin Brothers.

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
Simple style doesn't mean simple look. If you put it together correctly, your look speaks volumes.

What is your favorite decade for style?
70's.

What is your favorite fabric?
Cotton. So simple yet so versatile.

Which watch?
Gold Nixon Player.

What brand of denim do you prefer?
Energie, Levi's, and Crate.

What is your favorite color?
No single favorite. Earth tones.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
Denim.

Obey, 2K, Stussy, or Creative Recreation?

What is your favorite brand of sneakers?
Toss up between Vans and Chucks.

Which bag?
OGIO.

Sunglasses?
Von Zipper.

Argyles or paisleys?
Argyle.

Cardigan or turtleneck sweaters?
I don't wear either. So I'd like to phone a friend…

Briefs or boxers?
Boxer briefs. No tighty whities please.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
Yes sir. Only clean ones though. I love to trade clothing.

If your answer was yes, what is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?
Probably a my favorite pair of Energie denim.

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?
Not as much actually. Couple hundred on an overcoat. I prefer shopping for others rather than myself.

http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/38-3597-2675/Robblog1-blog.jpg

How would you define your look?
Sleazy rock n roll, with a punk rock sensibility...if that makes sense to anyone.

What inspires your style?
Honestly, my paycheck. I can make anything work for me, from cheap hats to expensive jeans. It just depends on what I make that week.

Who is your favorite designer?
Agatha Blois, just because I love leather.

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?
A wristband of some sort. Naked wrists are wasted space.

Who are your fashion/style icons?
Dregen, Joakim Berg, and Johnny Thunders.

What are your favorite labels?
Trash and Vaudeville, No Future, Mosquitohead, Dogpile, Tripp NYC, Ben Sherman, and occasionally Lip Service.

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?
I guess the myth that I'm somebody else. It's not what I aim for, but people often confuse anyone with black hair and tattoos for people they have nothing in common with. It works for me though, as it's sometimes a good foot in the door.

What is your favorite decade for style?
I gotta be difficult and say 67-77.

What is your favorite fabric?
Leather, with denim a close second.

Which watch?
I'm not big on watches. I kinda like not knowing what time it is.

What brand of denim do you prefer?
Dogpile or Guess. they've lasted me longer than any of the expensive brands.

What is your favorite color?
blue.

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?
I can justify spending way too much on anything, but mostly jackets.

What music influences your style ?
Scandinavian rock n roll.

What are you favorite style of shoes?
Chuckie T's. They will always be a staple in my wardrobe.

Black tie, bow tie, skinny tie or bolo tie?
Skinny tie, but only as a belt.

Which bag?
I prefer pockets.

Sunglasses?
Tres Noir or generic aviators from random truck stops.

Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood?
I gotta say Vivienne, because I love the DIY aspect. But it would probably be McQueen if I could afford it.

What are your fashion rules?
Really, there are no rules. Just do what you want. Take something you like and make it your own. I suppose the only rule is don't look exactly like anyone else.

Man bags or man jewelry?
Man jewelry. Always gotta accessorize.

Leather or vinyl?
Scandinavian Leather.

What style of hat do you like to wear?
Spitfires or bandannas. I keep it simple as far as my dome goes.

V-neck or crew neck?
crew.

Briefs or boxers?
Neither, until I wear a hole in the crotch of my jeans, and then it's boxer-briefs.

Would set foot in a thrift store?
About to go to one right now, actually.

If your answer was yes, what is the best thing you've ever found at a thrift store?
My favorite denim jacket. It was a spiffy Maverick jacket, but I hadta trash it up.

What is the most you've ever spent on fashion and for what item?
I think $450 for an awesome women's Diesel jacket, but technically, it wasn't my money. And come to think of it, I worked there when I got it, so it wasn't nearly that much. Still, it's the most expensive piece of clothing I own.

My Mythology - Creating our own living legacy at Zappos.

One of the joys about working at Zappos is the freedom to be ourselves through our own personal style. Style shouts! Individuals identify themselves through their personal style. Taking the chaos out of the closet and using clothing as a celebration to create personal
mythology or legend is something I have been fascinated by.

What is someone trying to say through their style?

Join me in the discovery. Each week I will take an employee from Zappos and find out their personal psychology through their favorite outfits.

Today we study the mythology of Laura M., Content Manager for Fashion at Zappos.com.

http://blogs.zappos.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2548/laura.jpg

Today Laura is wearing a BCBGeneration top, AG Adriano Goldschmied "Angel" jeans and Vince Camuto shoes.

How would you define your look?

I would say eclectic, mixing and matching vintage with new. I’m really attracted to unique prints and one-of-a-kind items, but I try to sprinkle those in with basic pieces that fit my body type!

What inspires your style?

My mood, I guess! Sometimes I mix together different prints and accessories and leave the house like I got dressed in the dark, while other days I keep it simple with a black top and dark jeans.

Who is your favorite designer?

I don’t really have an answer for this! I appreciate all designers and the spectacle that is Runway, but I don’t really follow any one in particular.

What fashion item would you never leave the house without?

A funky, patterned bag and a zip up hoodie!

Who are your fashion/style icons?

I do not follow trends or trendsetters…I’m an instinctual shopper. I buy what grabs my attention!

What are your favorite labels?

I’m not too into labels, but I like BCBG Max Azria, French Connection, anything from ‘Anthropologie’, Moschino

How would you define your mythology that you portray through your style?

High-Class Hippie!

What is your favorite decade for style?

For me, I find the 60’s and 70’s styles to be wearable and they fit my personality. I love wedges, flared denim, flowing tops. However, my favorite decades for style are actually the 20’s-40’s. I absolutely love those structured dresses and suits, t-strap spectators and fancy hats. Even more, I love red lipstick, matching nails and pin curls. A big part of me wishes that fancy, ever day fashion was still the norm. The bigger part of me loves to throw on a ‘wife beater’, jeans and a pair of Converse. Ooh how my split personalities conflict!

What is your favorite fabric? Modal and pima cotton, for sure!

Keep it comfy. :8}

What is your favorite color?

Right now…blue! Baby Blue and Bright Blue. Navy too!

What item do you allow yourself to splurge on?

Denim. I used to snub designer denim and never understood why anyone would pay so much money for a pair of jeans, but after my first pair of Seven for All Mankind jeans I’ve been hooked. I also love AG jeans.

Do you need to take out a second mortgage for your style?

I don’t have a first mortgage…possibly because most of my extra cash goes to clothing, shoes and fun stuff for my apartment, rather than saving up for a first.

Diamonds or pearls?

I don’t care much about either! I like funky necklaces with unique charms or beads. I only really wear necklaces and on the rare occasion, a bracelet!

Which bag?

I like Lucky Brand bags a lot. I am not one of those woman who spend hundreds on the ‘it’ bag of the moment. Lucky bags are really good quality and they match my vintage look…

Sunglasses?

Give me a headache!

What are your fashion rules?

It is all about the fit for me! You can be wearing the most expensive outfit, but if it is ill fitting or just doesn’t flatter your shape, it doesn’t matter. It took me a long time to accept the fact that I can’t wear spaghetti straps, tube tops or long skirts. Accentuate the positive and divert attention from the negative!

What is the most you’ve spent on a handbag?

$160 at the most.

Would set foot in a thrift store?

Any time, any thrift store!

If your answer was yes, what is the best thing you’ve ever found at a thrift store?

A really cool vintage bag. Luggage leather, drawstring bag with a long strap. It was my favorite bag up until an ex-boyfriend spilled juice all over it.

What is the most you’ve ever spent on fashion and for what item?

Beautiful tan Hugo Boss boots (about 230$).
