Things were a Rockin’ at the MGM, inside the Studio 54 and Game Works last Saturday. Since December is such a busy month for Zappos, we have our holiday party in January. I went around Monday Morning and asked people of various departments what they liked most about the event this year . Here are some of their responses!
“It was really good to see all the people I haven’t seen in a while” -Erin H.
“The Music and Dancing!” - Jenn S.
“Just Having a good time with Co-workers” -Jon. D
“Drinks, Good time with co-workers, and generally just how the bar was laid out.” -Derek F
“Seeing everybody in their Glad Rags ” –Katrina J.
“I don’t remember much” -undisclosed
“Seeing everybody Dressed up and Pretty”- Joanna C.
“Lots of Fun and Dancing!” –Lauren C.
If you could’nt tell by the short responses, everyone was very eager to get back to work!! Rock on team!!
As a stress reliever from planning warehouse budgets, making purchases, hiring and handling all benefits paperwork, writing scripts to run site manager, and becoming friends with OSHA; the admin team wants to throw something!!!
They decided to start a friendly game of dodge ball, the all time favorite recess sport! Dodge ball is played daily at 3pm in the upstairs office. What a great work out and stress reliever! Kudos, my friends, and remember... safety first!
At Zappos.com, safety comes second to none and it is better to be safe than sorry. The team has created many rules to keep the game fair, friendly, and safe. They actually have too many rules now but they are still having FUN!
We are looking forward to next spring when the weather warms up. Maybe the game can be taken out side and more players can join in. Go Team!
Andrea L (Andi to her friends) is a photographer in the KY Warehouse. Andi says, "I believe my spot here at Zappos was fate. I love it here. It is the best job I have ever had and I love the people I work with."
Although spirit week has since passed, I wanted to share the team's spirit sticks with everyone. Each department in the KY warehouse created their own spirit stick with a hint of department flavor. The spirit sticks were judged to find the winner, but I think every team is a winning team here in KY! We all need each other to get the merchandise on the shelves, posted to the site, and out the door in superhero lightning speed!
Grace H., HR Coordinator, has many roles here in the KY Warehouse. One of which is to handle events and planning. One of her most recent events was the Health & Wellness Fair. Several vendors from the area came out to speak with the KY Warehouse Superheroes to share information about their services or products. Among the vendors were Bullitt County Health Department, Hester's Gym, Etown Swim & Fitness, Two Ten Organization, Shepherdsville Chiropractic, and many more.
Employees received a Zappos.com goodie bag filled with lots of stuff including a jump rope, pedometer, jar openers, hand sanitizer, and many more things you shouldn't ever be without.
It was a long, but fun filled day of blood pressure screenings, body fat analysis, stop smoking campaigns, financial planning chats, and tips on ways to be more active and healthy. Thanks for all the work, Grace. We really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next one!
The KY Photography Department meets daily to discuss updates, goals, and core values. To build a positive team and family spirit, the photo team has daily questions. All superheros give their answer to the same question and it goes around the room until everyone has responded. The questions today is "Outside of work, what is your favorite thing to photograph?" See their answers here:
Feel free to leave a comment and let us know "What is your favorite thing to photograph?"
Grace H. is HR Coordinator in Zappos KY. She helps bring the fun inside the warehouse. She assists HR with many duties, but one of her favorite responsibilities is event planning. Grace has helped plan holiday parties, picnics, car washes, vendor fairs, health fairs, and many more events. Her next big event is KY's Fall Festival on October 25th. (KY team members make sure you RSVP using wiki, search for surveys).
You could call her KY's very own Superhero of Fun. Grace's desk is full of fun reminders of her dream vacation so basically when Grace comes to work, she is on vacation. Unofficial Warning: Working at Zappos.com may feel like you're on vacation! It's that much Fun!
Angela K., Zappos.com's KY Warehouse Recruiting Supervisor, shows us what's on her desk. Angela's job is to keep the warehouse filled with Zapponians eager to deliver WOW. She attends job fairs, tours, and networks with many HR folks to find the very best employees for Zappos.com.
Angela's desk is filled with fun trinkets to keep her focused on building a family and team environment in the warehouse. Although she is flooded with resumes, stocked with paperwork, and inundated with phone messages, she finds Mr. Wonderful waiting at her desk for her everyday when she arrives! She also collects hats, so feel free to leave a few more on her desk. (Bert, please don't leave anymore spiders though, she is terrified.)
