Our very own Pat W. likes to do more with less, which is a Zappos Core Value, and he uses this especially in the lunchroom. Zappos provides free lunch for all employees every day of the week, and many of us like to get very creative with all the ingredients available.

Pat is no exception.

We sure do like our adventuresome snacks around here at Zappos, and Brett has come up with a snack, that he thinks, is pure genius. (If he seems a little defensive, it's because he knows he's probably incorrect about health factor of his snack.)

This week in the Zappos headquarters we have new items on our lunch menu, multiple Zapponians with strange shaped noggins, Creed, and Brett has a special announcement.

Our facilities team have been working hard trying to change our soup, salad and sandwich bar lunchroom into a fully functioning kitchen so that they can make us some tasty lunch treats and so much more.

This week they have been testing out new lunch items that they will potentially add to a weekly menu. Tuesday's tasty tester was a nacho buffet, and the way the instant line formed out of the lunchroom, I'd say it's a hit. Honestly, who isn't a fan of pure nacho goodness?

Now traditionally Zappos lunches have been provided free of charge, but the big question Tuesday was: How much would you pay for a plate of Nachos? As of right now, $3 seems to be an agreeable rate.

Do you have unwanted books or music that you haven't listened to since snap bracelets and trapper keepers were in? ... Well, look no further!! I

The Zappos Book & CD exchange is here!! In the spirit of Core Values 5 & 8 ( Pursue Growth & Learning and Do More With Less) We have put bookshelves in the lunchroom & loaded them up with used books and music. The exchange works like this: bring in any books or music that you don't want anymore, put them on the shelves and if you see a book or disc that interests you, go ahead & take it! It's that simple. I'm a very avid reader & will often buy paperback books, only to have them pile up in my room after reading, here is the perfect outlet for those read books. It's a great way to save some many as well as pursue your musical & literary interest. So stop by the lunchroom & check out the shelves!!

The Zappos Kid's Team decided to embrace our Zappos Core Value of "Do More with Less" last week by hosting a Thanksgiving potluck. I know it's a bit early, but you can't ever go wrong with finely cooked bird and all the fixings!

This month we cut back our team dinners and events and decided to host a mixed Kids team potluck with our awesome Content Team! We had everyone sign up for various dishes and then Nick P. and myself took on the meats. We had two dishes of everything from sweet potatoes casseroles to Mashed Potatoes. We had a mini pie contest that consisted of a killer home baked pie by Marisa R. and a (shhh Costco maybe) pie by the other entry. Andy H. surprisingly made his very own green bean casserole...actually no one believed that he did actually make it, we assumed he had conned someone into making it for him! But, nope, Andy came through for us!

Kelly D. and Tara J. made very different, but equally awesome sweet potatoes, both won the eaters votes! All in all, our early Thanksgiving was quite a success. We are all happily stuffed employees ;)

Below is a shot of the most original desert I've seen in years......an Oreo, Rice Krispies Treat, Candy Corn turkey! Fine work!!!

In the corner of our lunchroom sits an amazing discovery for any Zapponian. Huge cereal dispensers. Huge. They have all of our favorite brands: Captain Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes and Raisin Bran....it's really quite breathtaking. It brings back all the childhood memories of eating before school.....now all we need is a big yellow bus to bring us to work! (The person with the big yellow Hummer in the Parking Lot....I'm looking at you...we'll expect you to pick us up at around 7:30)

What's for lunch today!?!

Well, today my dear friends is Pulled Pork Day. That's right, delicious pork stripped apart in a scrumptious sauce....yummy! But the best part about Pulled Pork Day are the delicious accoutrements that go along with it - watermelon slices, rolls, pasta, and potato wedges.

And there is absolutely no connection between river dancing and pulled pork, except for the fact that pulled pork day makes me do a jig!

Zapponians are real people with real appetites and they sometimes venture out of the office to feed on many a delicious dish.

Even though Zappos spoils their employees with a free salad and sandwich bar daily along with soup and snacks beyond belief, some days eating outside of the office is great too!


What ever would we do without the wonderful strip mall across the street from the Zappos.com Headquarters!?!

(Editor's note: Brett H. has been trying to win a rubber bouncy ball with tentacles in the claw machine in the grocery store for 1.5 years now. He's beginning to get discouraged.

Da do da do da doo doo, da do da do da doo doo...what's for lunch today?

It's shredded pork, pasta and quartered potato day! Hooray! Oh, and don't forget to grab a slice or two of juicy watermelon while they're still in season - I'm gonna miss you Summer fruit.

That's right, I said it, today is the ever-so-popular Taco Thursday – which is better than the popular Taco Tuesday theme amongst most college bars. So get in line (yeah, the line that wraps half way around the office) or pay someone to stand in line for you, cuz you wouldn't want to miss out on these tacos!

Free lunch is always something to write home about, but free breakfast, now that's something to sing about! Today we're celebrating Breakfast All Day, Day at Zappos.com.

As I was jogging last night, I came across a new friend named Chuck and liked him so much, I decided to invite him to come work at Zappos for the day. Melissa and I showed him around, gave him a desk and saw him off.


We ran into a few issues because, as you might be able to tell, Chuck is an inanimate object. But he did his very best! We're proud of you, Chuck!

Today, at Zappos, we are having our coveted Potato Day! Many Zapponians rejoice when this day comes around. The lunch is actually brought in from the Great Steak and Potato Company, and it is delicious...it drives myself and others into wild fits of bacon and potato-fueled madness!

The potatoes come wrapped in foil in huuuuuge coolers, and there is a selection of beef, bacon, chicken, ham, turkey, sour cream and cheese. I actually just had a bowl of bacon, my meat of choice! Melissa L. and I created an avant-garde video tribute to these fine food items. Enjoy! Potato!
