Hi Lovebirds!

Can’t think of a way to tell your special someone that you care for them? Have a friend that you think is the Cat’s Pajamas, but you haven’t been able to express it? All your problems will be solved by emailing Zappettes@zappos.com. The Zappettes will sing a song to your special friend, spouse, partner, coworker, boss, or secret admirer on Thursday, 2/12.

Love Songs to pick from:
Mr. Sandman
Life Could be a dream (sha boom)
L-O-V-E

They will be available to Zappos Employees tomorrow, Thursday, 2/12, to sing for a donation of $5 to Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Each month our Customer Loyalty Team participates in activities that work on learning and living each of Zappos core values. This past month they participated in a piggy bank contest that incorporated core value #2 - "Embrace and Drive Change."

Each team built a bank, and then tried to see which team could collect the most change. All the money collected was donated to the Nevada Childhood Caner Foundation. Here is Lauren C. showing how her teams bank works.

Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation Toy Drive

Dec 10, 2008 by Melissa L.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation Toy Drive is in high gear here at Zappos. The Holidays, more so than any other time of year, is a time of giving, and I really can't think of a better way to show Holiday spirit than by giving a gift to a child in need.

Last year, the toys Zappos employees brought in went far beyond the holiday season. While many of the toys were used to supplement Christmas for these children, many more toys were used in the treasure chests at local hospitals throughout the year. These treasure chests give children the opportunity to pick out a toy prior to an often scary procedure. The toys give the children comfort and help to take their minds off of the life threatening battle they are facing.

Make a child smile this season, buy a toy, big or small, and place it in the bin by the Help Desk in both our 2280 and 2290 building.

It's Raffle Time again for Zappos! Our wonderful HelpDesk has been announcing the winners of our annual December raffle to benefit the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. All prizes were donated by our vendors, with items including shoes, watches, sunglasses and a lot more!

Some of the more expensive products will actually be auctioned off later in the month, all going to our charity for 2008.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation works with the medical community to
provide support services and programs to families of children who are diagnosed with a life threatening or critical illness such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, hemophilia, renal disorders and other immunologic diseases.

All tickets for the raffle were sold to Zappos employees for $1 and the winners are announced by email throughout the day. The prizes are all kept under the front lobby Christmas Tree, see below.

Like the Mayor of Zappos Says:

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!!!!!!!!!

More Good Times from our Bone Marrow Drive!

Sep 15, 2008 by Brett H.

On Friday, Zappos.com hosted a Bone Marrow Drive in partnership with the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation in order to try to save the lives of 6 Children in the Las Vegas area who are in need of a bone marrow transplant. We hosted the drive in multiple locations, one here at the Vegas Headquarters and at two of our Zappos Outlets. Many employees answered the call of duty.

The bone marrow mouth swab program was simple, as you can see in the video below. It was some paperwork and then you swab your cheeks and that's it!

Also, later in the afternoon, radio station 98.5 KLUC did a live remote from our offices and rocked the 2280 building. All in all, quite a success. Thanks to everyone!

Zappos Gives Up Lunch to Give Back to Community......

Sep 9, 2008 by Melissa L.

....in order to give money back to those in need. Here's an interview with Jamie N. giving us the inside scoop on why we're bringing our brown bags to work this week.

September 8th – September 12th we will not be serving lunch at our offices or the outlets and the money will be given to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation to help them in the cost associated with their upcoming Bone Marrow Drives. Their goal this year is to save the lives of 6 children here in Nevada. It could take hundreds or even thousands of people to get tested in order to save these children. Here are a few quick facts:
· 46 Children are diagnosed with cancer everyday
· 30,000 children and adults right now have a disease that could be cured with a bone marrow transplant.
· Only 30% of them will find a match
Zappos will be hosting 3 bone marrow drives for the NCCF in September. The support of “Zapponians No Lunch” money has allowed the foundation to double their bone marrow efforts this year. On September 12th the Bone Marrow Registry will be on site at the 2280 building for Zappos Employees interested in joining the registry. You will need to fill out a quick form and they will swab the inside of your mouth. That’s it! You can change your mind if you do get called, but we hope you won’t. On September 13th 2 more bone marrow drives will be hosted at our outlet stores.

Nevada Zappos.com employees got together to collect new kids shoes for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. We collected 400 pairs of new shoes with the help of Nike, Zappos Outlets, and of course our amazing Zapponians. Below is a picture of the shoes with Jeff and Stephanie from the NCCF and Tony and Alfred. In addition to picking up the shoes the NCCF presented Zappos with a plaque thanking us for the donation. You can read more about Zappos’ community involvement here.

May 8, 2008 by Graham M.

The Zappos Merchandising team is working with ZU to put together a Zappos.com Edition of Monopoly. 5000 custom Monopoly boards will be created by Parker Bros. featuring Zappos.com and our Core Values, and will feature properties "sponsored" by many of our top vendors! The proceeds from the property sponsorship and sales of board game set will benifit The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Special thanks to Andy H., Richard Z. and Mark G. for putting this together! We're almost there! More info to follow!

Ever dance with a Dev'r in the pale moon light?

Apr 11, 2008 by Pawel S.

Yesterday was book fair day at Zappos, wherein half of our cafeteria was transformed into a small book shop. It really brought some of us developers back to the days of elementary school where such events were not uncommon. Perhaps this feeling was strongest of all for Shane, who discovered a gem of a book entitled High School Musical : All About Dancing.

Part story book and part instructional dance manual, nobody had seen anything quite like it before. It's true that one can get away with a great many things by saying "It's for my daughter", but I happen to know for a fact that Shane is a man who loves to dance! As soon as the recess bell sounded, Shane grabbed Becky and the two started cutting a rug- with director of development Brent calling out dance moves from the book. I was pretty surprised, but the three of them managed to pull off a pretty good show for not having had any rehearsals!

Incidentally, 10% of Shane's book purchase (and all of the other books sold that day) will be donated to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. Thanks to Suchi for the great action shot!
