June is National Safety Month and the Zappos Safety Committee helped to kick it off at the KY fulfillment Center! The safety topic for the first week of June is Heat Protection. Safety Committee Representatives are on hand all week during lunches to spread the safety knowledge and pass out cool-ties (trust me your gonna' need them- IT'S HOT!). Team-members also have the chance to win some Zollars if they can answer various safety questions.

The Zappos Safety Committee has lots of fun activities (and Zappos trinket giveaways) planned for the month of June. So keep an eye out for all of the fun happenings!

Everyone knows and loves Andrea W.; I mean come on she takes care of feeding ALL of us in the KY Fulfillment Center. Andrea will be taking the big step on Saturday June 6th, 2008. Yes folks she is getting married! So her Zappos family thought it would be nice to throw her a wedding shower and feed HER for once! So we donned our pj's and had a Pajama Wedding Shower Breakfast Potluck. The spread of food was unbelievable- from quiche to waffles hot off the griddle! Everything was delicious!

It's time to recognize our Safety Superheros. Each month 4 lucky individuals are saluted for their dedication to safety. They recieve 50 Zollars and prime front row parking for a month!

Our Safety Superheros for the month of June are Sheila Joiner, Mandy Carder, Rick Downs, and Reatha Marion. You can see Miss Mandy Carder (above) is absolutley ecstatic about her first class parking place!

The Safety and Risk Management team were recently in LV. Besides from enjoying the GORGEOUS weather, (it's still a bit chilly in KY!) we held trainings for members of the management team. The training gave insight into what OSHA is, steps to take when handling a work related incident, types of incidents, and of course, HOOPLA!!!

The class was composed of a wonderfully created slide show, some bogus incident forms and scenarios that involved role playing. The scenarios were a great way to get everyone involved. We had great performances by Fred Mossler, Galen Hardy, Jerry Tidmore, Pat Warren, Lakshan Fernando and Lisa Grossano. The crowd enjoyed the antics of the supposed injured individuals!

These training sessions were a "fun way" to pursue growth and learning". We want to make sure that everyone at Zappos is safe. It's all about the HOOPLA, baby!!
