Yes, that is one of the things mentioned in an online posting by Bill Taylor of Harvard Business Publishing. This is the organization that is responsible for the iconic Harvard Business Review, the famous Harvard Business School Case studies and much more. So yeah, we’re pretty thrilled.

Okay, so what is this "paid to quit" thing? Well you see, about a week into the standard 4 week new hire training program, if a person decides that Zappos isn’t a fit, they can resign and receive a $1000 severance payment. Very few people take this offer. No one did in my class about a year ago.

Some other very positive things about Zappos were mentioned – our vast selection, customer service and corporate flexibility. We’ll do our best to not only maintain, but improve on these areas. Professor Taylor indicates he might write more about his visit to Zappos and I’d love to get his perspective and advice on how a company like Zappos, roughly 1600 people, can preserve its company culture in the face of rapid growth.

And fyi, the picture is not of someone quitting. It’s actually from the “Product Info is Changing it’s name to Content” parade. Hey, when else would I have been able to use a picture of a pretty woman wearing a fake mustache and waving?
