At the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, TX, Zappos invited a number of influential and talented bloggers to let us film them opening their Zappos boxes and showing their excitement that came along with the Zappos Experience. And since then, we have invited you to do the same by recording your box break and uploading to Zappos.tv for a chance at a $100 Gift Certificate.
Today, we wanted to show you the excitement even in the corporate offices with every order that is delivered to employees.

16 Zappos employees have invaded Austin and the South by Southwest Interactive Festival! Our CEO, Tony Hsieh, gave the keynote speech on Saturday, and he brought all of us on stage to introduce our card game for SXSWesters, the Zappos 5. The rules are simple: We gave out Zappos playing cards numbered Day 1, 2 and 3. 3 on the first day, 1 card on day 2 and 1 card on day 3. The point of the game is to acquire 5 of a kind, and send them in, take a picture or video, and the person will be entered in a drawing for....drumroll.....a Trip to the home of the Zappos Corporate headquarters, Las Vegas, NV! We love Austin and we love SXSW!

A healthy bunch of Zapponians took flight and headed to Austin last week to attend South by Southwest Interactive(SXSW). If you are not familiar with SXSW, it is the leading interactive festival out there, not to mention 1 part Music and 1 part Film as well! SXSW attracts the industry leaders in the web world, and among other things is an orgy of tech talk and networking. Several of us attended last year and saw clearly how great of an opportunity it would be to get others out there. So we did. 20 of us in all went out there to spread the word that Zappos is hiring! Oh wait, I forgot to mention...Tony spoke at the conference as well, he had the floor for an hour and discussed the "Top Ten Lessons Learned in E-Commerce". If you haven't had a chance to view the slideshow you may just want to set aside some time and give it a look, great stuff!

We actually had a booth there too, this was a decision meant for two purposes: 1. primarily to spread the hiring word and 2. we needed a place to hang out and regroup from time to time. I will take the liberty and speak for others (hey others, don't shoot me for putting words in your mouth) but all had a blast!! Met some incredible candidates who may be Zappos team members soon, so that is wonderful!

It just so happened that it was raining REALLY hard one of the days and as luck would have it we had several thousand ponchos at our booth, luck! So we handed them out and helped keep people dry! Zappos, at your service! Check out some of the pics from the event here!
