The DC Teamworks program continues for Fall 2009: Introducing footwear and apparel customized by Travis Pastrana, Ken Block, Ricky Carmichael, Nate Adams and Adam Jones.

DC Teamworks was originally created in 2005 to give DC's top riders the opportunity to customize their favorite products. Riders choose the materials and colors to reflect their tastes, riding styles, performance needs and personalities.

The Fall 09 DC Teamworks Collection is a continuation of the original ideals the program established. The result is five product packs completely designed to meet each riders specs and needs. Travis, Ken, Ricky, Nate and Adam worked with the DC design team to make the products 100% their own. Macbeth Footwear is proud to announce the birth of its newest "Studio Project" collaboration, the "45 RPM."
Designed to the likings and style of none other than Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt. This innovative shoe brings a unique new look that is ready to hit ground running. The "45 RPM" Studio Project shoe hit the streets worldwide in June 2009, on the tail of Green Day's highly anticipated album release, "21st Century Breakdown."

This shoe is 100 percent vegan-crafted, containing zero animal products in the construction and distribution. Zappos Rideshop

The black suede Munition CT Mid is the first installment of a two-part shoe series collaboration between long time DVS rider Chico Brenes and LRG. Designers looked to the early years of Chico's career for inspiration on it's look and feel.

The footbed print is borrowed from Chico's first World Industries pro model graphic, Orange Vendor, introduced in 1992 by artist Mark Mckee. The graphic features a tiny cartoon Paisa wearing a red flannel and selling oranges out of a box. This character is a direct reference to Chico's heritage as a Nicaraguan immigrant. The same flannel pattern used on the graphic is mimicked in both print and texture on the collar of the shoe. The shoe also features custom Chico and LRG branding on the tongue and heel.

To compliment the line, designers also produced signature apparel pieces that tie into the color and graphic themes of the shoes. The Chico x LRG apparel collection includes a textured red flannel New Era, a signature red flannel long sleeve, and graphic T-shirts that feature the same Mark McKee Paisa character found in the footbed of the shoe. The American Motorcyclists Association (AMA) supercross season from January through May often seemed like a two-man show involving James "Bubba" Stewart and Chad Reed, but the summer motocross circuit on the rural dirt tracks is providing a stronger balance of competition. Chad Reed leads the motocross season points standings near the midway point. Still, new faces are emerging with seven first-time event winners. The latest is rookie Josh Grant of Riverside, California, who on Independence Day captured the Monster Energy Motocross National from RedBud in Buchanan, Michigan.

Every sport needs its superstars. Supercross and motocross are no different. Still, most fans don't want the same old same old. Josh Grant is among the up-and-coming young lions who are eager to share some podiums. "I really needed this win," says Grant, reflecting the impatience of a potential emerging star in his own right. "I finally got a decent start and just made all the passes I needed to get to the front. I knew we had the speed. I just needed to get a start and today everything worked out." Furthermore, Josh Grant's day in the sun came on a live national telecast on NBC.

Josh Grant moves to his own beat. He still lists Riverside as his hometown, but in October 2008 he moved to North Carolina, saying he sometimes wants to get away from the "circus" and train in more quiet surroundings with the Joe Gibbs Racing Team. Also, he wants to avoid a tendency to over train and wear himself out. "It took a couple weeks (in North Carolina) before we really got into a groove where I started riding a lot. Then a couple of weeks after that, we started testing. Then we just really hit it really hard from there on in," Josh explains.

Josh Grant paid his dues in the junior 250 Lites class before his gradual advance to joining the big boys on the 450s. He says the more powerful bike "suits my style" and demonstrates that he has "the power to do it." The summer of 2009 indeed is demonstrating that budding stars in supercross and motocross are ready to challenge the old guard.

Although this Boston-bred band was around for only a short time in the late 80's and early 90's, the Pixies melodic punk and surf-rock sounds inspired bands such as Nirvana, who in turn influenced a generation of musicians. The band reunited in 2004, and rumors still fly today about the band's future. Vans' Pixies release salutes the band with artwork from their 1997 best-of compilation album Death to the Pixies. The artwork, depicting a nude frontman Black Francis giving a thumbs down salute, was originally seen on the band's first posters and t-shirts. The problem with long summer vacations is that there are so few activities out there that don't cost a lot of money to pursue. Even skateboard parks, which should really be viewed as belonging to all residents of a certain city, often times charge exorbitant entry fees. And in trying economic times like these it is oftentimes healthy activities for young people that get cut out by parents looking to keep food on the table.

That is why it is so important that skate clothing maker Etnies still doesn't charge an entry fee to its Lake Forest, CA skateboard park. Etnies Skate Park is located at the corner of Lake Forest Road and the 261 Toll Road. Entry is free every day and is open from 11 am until 9 pm. All day Wednesday and Sunday mornings are set aside only for BMX riders so be aware of those particular restrictions if you only like skateboarding. BMX riding and skating on one park is absolutely impossible and only causes gnarly injuries and the occasional fistfight as riders battle for space.

Not that Etnies Skate Park is lacking in space or special features. Etnies Skate Park features a section that apes the appearance of a regular street corner, has a combination bowl and even a swimming pool with textured tiling. There is over 40,000 square feet of skateboarding space and while weekends are always rather busy, the Etnies Skate Park is pretty open even on weekdays during the summer.

The street corner section (also called The Plaza) of Etnies Park also boasts some very unique attributes like a never ending twelve step rail and a couple of elevated manhole covers so expert skaters can pull off some snaps. The Plaza also features a perilous circular rail that leads down to a lower flat rail leading to the main course. There are fun boxes, picnic benches, flat boxes and ledges all set to challenge any skateboarding fanatic. The course is also laid out in a linear manner so once you finish on one end it is very easy to get back on the course for another go.

A worldwide act formed over a decade ago, Groove Armada is a duo made up of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay from Cambridge, England. Now primarily based in London, they produce and record music as well as host semi-regular club nights in London, plus travel for select shows worldwide, playing for tens of thousands at a time. The duo's combined love of so much different music inspires them to dish out house bass-lines, 80's pop samples and heavey choruses. Put that on a stage and you've got a musical firework show just made for gettin' down!

For this project with DC, Groove Armada created two seperate and distinctive shoes, each reflective of their history. The first, the Night and Day A-250, has a serious case of schizophrenia. The glow in the dark logos are sure to be noticed all night, and come morning and searing sunlight it brings, the black and white croc embossed leathers will transform to show a perviously hidden background color pop.

The second, the Multi/Mismatch Volcano, utilizes the lively techno color theme from GA's merchandise and graphics. With a bright color palette set, Groove Armada took the shoe to another level and used a mismatch execution, meaning the left and right are slightly different from one another.
