Show Me the Money!

Posted by Chris P. May 2, 2008

Sometimes it's not about how good your run is. Sometimes it's all about how much money you find.

Yesterday's run home from Zappos was the most sluggish I've had in a while. I was actually looking foward to running home - I felt good almost all day, ate a good sized portion of pasta for lunch and stayed nice and hydrated all day long, so I'm not too sure why I was so beat. Things were really sucking until I got about three miles into the run and suddenly my eyes were blessed by the wonderful sight of a shiny dime! It's amazing how finding money revives a tattered mind and body. I was feeling a little better.

Another block and what do you know - Another dime! At this point I'm considering retirement from Zappos. I was feeling a lot better.

Another mile after and guess what? A whole dollar bill!!! Even though it was only about ten feet off a crosswalk, it felt like it was laying in the sun all day long. As brittle and torn as it was, it was the most beautiful thing I ever picked up on a street corner. I picked it up and needed to share this with SOMEONE! I looked around and lucky me - A guy stuck at the red light had witnessed my newly found fortune. I raised the dollar in the air in excitement and he gave me the thumbs up and a smile http://blogs.zappos.com/images/emoticons/happy.gif

Damn, this is a great run.

I was feeling much much better. Another mile down the road and another penny! I mean, seriously. This is the best run ever - That is until I got another block down and I found another penny...It's now official - The best run ever.

Hansel and Gretel ain't got nothing on me and my scrilla!!!

Thanks for reading! Trust me, as long as there are coins to scoop up on the road, I'll be writing about it - hopefully some good stories along the way too :)

Does my heart good to know that there are others who will pick up pennies as well as the big bucks. Good for you Chris, and I hope you find even more next time :)

Goog morning. I just wanted to leave with a little bit of a story this morning. In regards to trying to make my life healthier this month i rode my bike to work today. Which let me explain is not a easy task. I am not a very active person and i live about a mile and a half away. I made the conscious decision to ride my bike at least twice a week to work in hopes to better myself. On my way this morning at the corner of eastern and pebble i stopped for the red light to my surprise i looked down and found 1.43 in change. Not until now have i felt then enjoyment that finding random change can bring a grown man. It was very reminiscent of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory and finding that golden ticket. For the rest of my day i will bring that joy and excitement i felt at that moment to my calls and everyoen i come in contact with. It is amazing where one can find the inspiration to wow and be a happier person by a simple gift of change. yours truly in the quest for finding unwanted change. Kris

I wonder if the shoes you are wearing dictates the amount of money you find? Awesome story, remember pennies are worth more than one cent now too, well at least they cost three cents to make!
