Dress Your Boss Winner: "Pretty in Pink"

Dress Me App, Zappos VIP Dress Me App, Dress Me Facebook App,zappos vip,Facebook apps,Dress me,Dress Me Zappos App

We recently ran a “Dress Your Boss” Contest here at Zappos HQ to continue the celebration of the Zappos VIP Dress Me app.

The winning ensemble was creatively put together by David B. of our User Experience team. David did a ravishing “Pretty in Pink” outfit on his boss Donny. Excellent job David, and lookin’ good Donny!

If you want to have a little office fun, try dressing your own boss or coworkers today using the Dress Me app. They’ll thank you for it, trust us. IOS Updates!

Hi folks! We've been keeping busy here in the mobile team and wanted to feature our most recent 2.2 release because it has quite a few enhancements that make this a pretty awesome release for both our iPhone and iPad app. The first thing you'll notice when you download the updated 2.2 release from the App Store is an updated homescreen on the iPhone. We've added some of the look of the regular website, added quicker category browsing and simplified things a bit overall. You'll also notice that when you login we'll recognize that you're a VIP!

As you start searching and filtering, you'll find that more categories and relevant subcategories are available to you than before. This should make finding what you're looking for much easier. Once you've found that product, take a look at our images and we've included high-res images where you can pinch and zoom to get a better look. Finally, if you want to share this product, we're leveraging iOS 5's native Twitter integration to allow you to tweet an image and link to the product you're viewing (additionally you can share via email or text message).

Definitely a cool release, so what are you waiting for? Get the newest Zappos iPad app HERE! :)

Here's Nolan O'Brien, a mobile engineer on our team, to go over the features in this quick video:

Dress Me, Dress Me App, Dress Me Facebook App, Dress Me Facebook application, new apps, new features, VIP Zappos, Zappos VIP, Zappos VIP Dress Me App

The fun and interactive Dress Me app for Zappos VIP is now available via Facebook. What is the Dress Me app you ask? Well, it’s a way for Zappos VIP customers to “try on” their favorite clothing, shoes and accessories and get their friends involved in creating unique outfits for different occasions!

This “social dressing” aspect of the Dress Me Facebook app allows you to create a personalized virtual model using your own photo. You can then dress it from head to toe in whatever styles you want and share your new outfit creations with your Facebook friends.

You and your friends can dress each other as well! The Dress Me app also includes an interactive game for your friends so you can challenge them to pick the best outfit. Invite them to create ensembles for an upcoming special occasion, or vice versa.

Last but certainly not least, by clicking through from the Dress Me application to the Zappos VIP website, users will get a FREE upgrade to VIP status, which offers such perks as free next day shipping, expedited returns, and 24-hour advanced access to new styles.

We hope you enjoy playing and creating tons of different outfits with the Dress Me app!

*First and foremost, make sure you are logged into Facebook before you play around with the Dress Me App.

1. I can't access my photos. What's going on?

Your Facebook Privacy settings may need to be adjusted. To allow applications to pull in your photos, go to

Privacy Settings > Apps, Games and Websites > "How people bring info to apps they use" > Edit Settings > "my Photos" needs to be checked

2. I am trying to dress a friend, but can't access their photos. What's going on?

Your friends' Facebook privacy settings may need to be adjusted. Give them a call, and ask them to make the following adjustment:

Privacy Settings > Apps, Games and Websites > "How people bring info to apps they use" > Edit Settings > "my Photos" needs to be checked

3. How do I add products to the canvas?

Simply click on a product image, and it should add it to the canvas. Or, more fun -- click and drag the product from the search area to the body.

4.  How do I resize the product images?

There's a little rectangle on the bottom right corner of the product images. Click and drag this in and out to resize smaller/larger.

5. I want to shop! How do I buy the stuff I'm seeing on Dress Me?

Click through from any product in the Boutique tab, or click on any "View on Zappos VIP" button. Surprise! You will get a FREE Zappos VIP upgrade so you can make your purchase and get FREE NEXT BUSINESS DAY shipping (in addition to other cool perks!).

ReCommerce Hack Day

A few of us here at Zappos (including members of the API, San Francisco, and FEZ teams) are currently in the works of hosting the first ReCommerce Hack Day on September 16-17, 2011. We're excited to see developers reinvent e-commerce and create some mind-blowing vertical retail experiences. It will be held in sunny Sinicon Valley (aka Las Vegas), and we invite you to come and join our growing tech community!

We'll be providing prizes for Best Overall Application, Most Fun & Weird, and Best Mashup in line with the retail hackathon theme. You don't have to use any specific API for these prizes – choose whichever strike your fancy and figure out how to WOW us!  Additionally, our sponsor partners will be providing prizes for the best use of their specific APIs as well. (If you're interested in sponsorship, please reach out to us at!)

On Friday night, we'll keep it casual - start out with a few presentations from our partners to hear all about their cool APIs, then we bring out the beer! This is your time to mingle with other hackers and to figure out who you want to work with along with which APIs to use. On Saturday morning, you'll wake up early, drink lots of water to cure your hangover, then start hacking away! We'll be providing food and drinks to keep your energy levels up.

Full details on the schedule and registration can be found on We're looking for developers, hackathoners, students, retailers, and good ol' API-lovers to join in on the madness! Hope to see you there!

NavWow Multi-select

Since the original launch of NavWow (faceted search navigation), one of the biggest requests from customers has been the ability to select multiple search facets at the same time. In the next couple of weeks we'll be launching that multi-select ability in NavWow. It'll be exposed only to a randomly selected subset of customers and you might find yourself seeing it (if you followed the link from a search to this blog post, you're likely in that test! Congrats!). Lots of work has been put into this by our cross functional search team.

Here's Dylan Bathurst explaining NavWow:

We have more changes planned in the next few months but we think this is a great start. We're looking forward to your feedback!
