Cupcake Social

The Pipeline team hosted a Cupcake Social in celebration of National Junk Food Day. To celebrate, they set up a cupcake decorating station complete with every candy you could imagine, frosting and over 300 cupcakes. Just a cupcake decorating station wouldn't be enough for such a major holiday; they set up a hot fudge sundae station too! Employees created their own cupcake masterpieces that included Cherry Pie, Maple Bacon and Popcorn. NOM NOM!

Remember when learning was fun?

The KY Pipeline team has started things off with a bang! We are all about Pursuing Growth & Learning…you know it’s kind of our thing, but whoever said that learning can’t be fun! We have been enjoying rockin’ it out 80’s style for our New Hires in orientation over the past few weeks. We try to make teaching stretching exercises fun by dressing up 80’s style. What’s not to love about a little 80’s flashback?!

So, what do you do to make learning fun? We would love to hear your ideas. Comment below.

Zappos Culture Book

It’s That Time of Year Again!

Last year, we had such a great response when we asked our customers, employees and partners to submit photos for the 2009 Culture Book, we’re going to do it again!

http://www.zappos.com/zapposcom-gear-zappos-culture-book-2009-edition-n-a

It was really fun to see everyone’s unique ‘eye’ on the world and it just goes to show how much talent and passion stretch across the extended Zappos family!

Because of the great response, we can only consider those images that fall within the required specs (see below).

 Things we’d like to see:

What you think of when you hear “Zappos”

Your favorite Zappos item

Something fun and a little weird

Something that makes you smile

Something you’re passionate about

Your interpretation of one of our core values (http://about.zappos.com/our-unique-culture/zappos-core-values)

Things we won’t like to see:

Your dirty laundry :)

Anything inappropriate

Anything excessively photo-edited or Photoshopped.

Feel free to add informative titles, descriptions, your name and where you took the picture (in the email, not on the picture). If you’re submitting a photo, you’re giving us the right to use it in our book and you’re verifying that it’s your original photo (and not someone else’s).

Specs for images:

It’s going to be printed in a book, so the higher the resolution the better. It’d be a shame if we love your picture but can’t use it!

Katrina's WOW poem!

Our very own Katrina J., British CLT-Bringer of WOW, created this fine work below to represent our culture in poetry.

Here at Zappos, we have a special way,
It’s called the the 10 core values and it helps us every day.

One of course, is the “Service WOW”
If you are really good at it, we award you a C.O.W (cultivator of wow
award)

Number two, You’re in the drivers seat
Embracing change, we think is pretty neat!

Do you fit in with number three? please read on and you will see.

If you want to shave your head and have a race to grow a beard,
Then you’re creating a little fun and are hopefully a bit weird!

Be adventurous, creative and open minded as well, is number four, if
you can’t tell?

Now we are at the middle and it’s about keeping our brains fed,
Pursuing growth and learning, will help us stay ahead.

As for number six, we won’t keep you out of touch,
It’s open and honest communication, that will help us build our trust.

Team and family spirit is the next one to keep in mind.
With picnic’s and parties, where we all have a good time.

Doing more with less got us where we are today,
so, number eight is really great, making your idea’s our Way!

It’s number nine, I hear you determined to shout!!
And of course it’s the Passion, which is what we’re all about.

So now we reached the last one, what could we have left out??
Ten wonderful core values that makes Zappos what we are all about.

We like to remember where we came from and how far we have to go,
So being humble, is the last core, to keep in mind,
As we spread a little happiness to all of mankind…..
