Calling All Developers - We're Hiring!

At Zappos, our developers speak many languages: English, Spanish, Polish, Japanese, Hindi, Perl, Java (to name a few).  However, an equally important language we speak on a daily basis is one of take-no-prisoners geek fun and good times.  Check out this video featuring some of our truly next level events from the past year!

Happy New Year!

You know that one New Year’s song that plays every New Year but no one knows the words to it? Yeah, Auld Lang Syne…that’s it! Well, here’s the Zappos family attempt to get this song right.

I think we did a pretty good job.

WCC Extends Voting for 25th Anniversary of Women's Athletics Team powered by Zappos.com

The WCC is extending the voting for the last spot on the 25th Anniversary of Women’s Athletics Team powered by Zappos.com, to January 3rd, 2010, because of a continued strong response on wccsports.com. The first to the 24th spots were voted on by Senior Women’s Administrators from each WCC member institution, conference staff, and select media, with the last spot to be determined by fan voting.

The remaining candidates are Kelley Cunningham (GON, Volleyball), Valerie Gillon (USF, Basketball), Lindsey Huie (POR, Soccer), Melissa King Fisher (SCU, Basketball), Angela Lawrence (PEP, Tennis), and Carolina Llano (PEP, Golf).

With a tradition that includes national championships, All-Americans and countless NCAA Tournament appearances, the West Coast Conference has established itself as a national force in collegiate women’s athletics. The 2009-10 school year marks the 25th anniversary of when the WCC began sponsoring women’s athletics. The Conference is celebrating the historic milestone with the WCC 25th Anniversary of Women’s Athletics campaign, powered by Zappos.com. The campaign is a season-long celebration of 25 years of WCC women’s athletics excellence.

The WCC began sponsoring women’s athletics in 1985 with volleyball, cross-country, basketball, and tennis entering their first years of conference competition. The WCC added women’s soccer as a conference sport in 1992, followed by women’s rowing and women’s golf in 1997.

In 25 years, the WCC has established itself as one of the premier women’s soccer conferences in the country, winning three national titles. In women’s volleyball, the WCC is one of the most competitive conferences in the nation, sending the highest percentage of teams from one conference into the NCAA Tournament in 2008. Women’s basketball has been equally as impressive sending multiple teams into the postseason for 10 consecutive seasons. In women’s tennis, San Diego’s Zuzana Lesenarova won the NCAA singles championship in 1999, while in women’s golf, Pepperdine has established itself as a perennial national power with four top five finishes in the NCAA Championship. In women’s rowing, Gonzaga has won 12 of the previous 13 WCC Championships, while Portland has dominated the WCC Cross Country Championships, winning 19 of the 25 conference titles.

Show support for your school and vote here for who you think should represent the remaining spot on the 25th Anniversary Team.

CLT Cow Awards

Our Customer Loyalty Team not only works hard to take care of our customers, but also takes pride in the fact that they are a true and noble team that is willing to do whatever they can for their fellow Zapponians. They actually have a team, called the WOW team, that does different events and recognition for the CLT members.

One of the things they use for recognition is the COW award (Cultivator Of wow). This award allows members of the CLT team to nominates others for the the great things that they do for others. The winners of the monthly award get a certificate and lunch.

Ugly Sweater Day!

Even though you can usually find ugly sweaters out there all year long, those really tacky ugly sweaters always come out around the Holiday season. With the season coming towards the end, it was time to break out those sweaters for our annual Ugly Sweater Day here at the office.
