This week, we highlighted a classic print and classic style worthy of the festivities at Derby!

Polka dots are one of the most coveted prints of the season! This slightly nostalgic print looks fabulous as the focal point or accent to your ensemble. Go beyond the basic black and white and try out some fun color polka dots for summer!

Derby style isn’t just for the big race in Louisville! These prim and proper outfits would be just as appropriate for a dressier daytime event like a garden wedding or party. Think classic, pretty and dapper. And ladies, it's all about the hat--the bigger the better. If you're not into hats, try a fabulous fascinator in your hair to glam up your look.

As we slowly ease into summertime, our minds naturally go to sunny beach vacations and baseball games--two things we love about the season. That's why this week’s trend spotlights are on tropical floral prints and outfits to wear at the ballgame. 

Tropical-floral prints are like the summer vacation of prints—they just evoke such a laid-back feel. Think palm fronds, exotic flowers, and bold colors. Whether it’s on a lovely summer dress or a cool Hawaiian shirt, this fabulous print is a must for warm summer days and nights.

Baseball games call for comfortable outfits that show some team spirit. Break out of wearing just any old team shirt by rocking your team’s colors in casual pieces. Throw on your baseball cap and you’re ready to root, root, root for the home team in style!

There’s no doubt that spring is the best time to rock color. With so many colored denim options out there, you can infuse pops of color to your outfits no matter what your personal style happens to be.

And fellas, don’t think that ladies get to have all the fun! We’re seeing bright and bold colors in men’s fashion as well. There’s the colored jeans option, but you can also do something more subtle like a pop color shoe, top or accessory.

Nautical: The nautical trend is really making a huge splash in fashion this season, although it’s a trend that’s been around for ages. It just goes to show how timeless this style is! Invest in classic pieces like a striped tee, comfy boat shoes and a few solid pieces in navy, white and red--- trust us, they’ll instantly become indispensable in your spring/summer wardrobe.

Easter: This holiday rings in the beginning of spring season. With pastels being such a huge trend in fashion these days, Easter looks are definitely spot-on, whether you’re celebrating or not. Guys, if you’re a little weary of pastel shades, try infusing a little dose with a pastel-colored tie or layer a pastel tee underneath a button-up shirt.

This week, we featured three spring trends that are especially suited for weekend fun. Feminine florals, spring picnic and last, but certainly not least, the classic Henley shirt.

Floral: This timeless spring print never ceases to amaze us! While it’s totally feminine, you can definitely wear florals in more ways than one. Try adding a little edge to a floral dress by pairing it sexy ankle boots and a denim vest, or sweeten up your Saturday outfit with a floral maxi dress. If you’re a little prints-shy, you can still add a little floral pop with a nice clutch or floral-print shoes!

Spring Picnic: Enjoy the beautiful spring sunshine in outfits that are both comfy and stylish. We love infusing fun pops of colors (e.g. a great pair of colored jeans) into these relaxed looks. The key is to pick flowy silhouettes and of course, stick to flat shoes. Heels and grass just don’t mix!

Henley Shirts: This easy-to-wear tee is truly a closet staple for every man, no matter what your personal style might be. It goes with everything from cargo shorts, khakis, and even works in a business-casual ensemble.

Stripes: Not just in the nautical realm, stripes are a perennial favorite that’s easy to wear with anything. Try a casual striped tee on the weekends or throw on a blazer over a striped V-neck for a cool look.

Nudes: We love all the chic and subdued shades out there right now. The trick to wearing nude shades is to complement your skin tone. Fair-skinned girls should opt for more rose or pink-toned nudes. Medium-skinned ladies, go for nudes with gold undertones. Dark or olive skin looks amazing against bronze-nude tones.

Glitter: You know the saying, too much of a good thing is NOT a good thing? The same goes for glitter. To look tastefully chic, keep your glitter item to a single item, whether it’s the focal point (like the dress featured above), or a sparkling accent (like a glitter shoe or clutch). It’s important to not go overboard with this trend.

Plaid: Now for the fellas! Plaid has always been our favorite go-to print for guys. It’s easy to wear, and you can wear it either on your top, bottom or as a cool trim or accent. Want a more fun way to wear plaid? Try wearing a plaid blazer to a daytime party or wedding to keep things interesting!
