Collaborative footwear is taking over the casual footwear market. From famous painters to local graffiti artists, skateboarders to hip hop artists, the shoe market has made a creative shift toward the artistic.
Created in 1992, the Zebra Baby was used on the cover of Love Child, the video that contained Daewon Song's first ever video part. Representative of an entire era of skateboarding, the DVS Shoe CompanyAlmost Daewon CT x is a tribute to Daewon's history and influence during the early '90s. Each pair comes with a custom Almost mini-board featuring the iconic Zebra Baby graphic that graced the cover of Love Child.
The Globe Destroyer is the sequel to the Mace Hi and is a collaborative effort between Globe and Sekure D (the same company that created the Splattered Angel Nike Dunk Low). This style features 3M graffiti work that uses blue, black and silhouette gray to make it a walking masterpiece.
Some companies are even shifting toward customer-created art pieces for their new styles. The Emerica Reynolds 3 - Design A 3 was created by Design-A-3 contest winner Alex D. of Bristol, Connecticut. The purple haze look of these Reynolds 3 kicks really pops off the canvas, while the white soles with signature “AR” tagging create a stunning contrast. Magnifique.
