From the Runway to Your Closet: Leather Apparel

Leather was seen all over the runways at the fall and winter 2009/2010 season runway shows. When some people think of leather, they only think of the tough and harder styles when there are plenty of leather pieces that can show femininity and definite sex appeal. There is a wide variety of leather apparel to choose from that will fit this runway fashion trend perfectly. We saw models in leather dresses, skirts, leggings, jackets, blazers, and of course thigh or knee-high boots hit the runways this year.

If you want to follow this fashion trend but you want to remain on the conservative side, then you may opt for a leather jacket or blazer. A great leather motorcycle or bomber jacket looks good with so many different outfits. You can pair a leather motorcycle jacket with a t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans for a casual and cool look. Pair the same jacket with a simple dress or skirt and blouse and you have a dressier look that may be suitable for a date or a night out. A leather blazer looks trendy with a pair of trouser pants and a blouse for a work outfit or just a sophisticated, more grown-up outfit.

If you are more daring you can try leather leggings or skinny pants. A cute going out outfit would be a long tunic with a pair of leather leggings and high heels. You can also get even more daring and try a leather dress on for size. Not all leather dresses are harsh looking and give off a tough image. There are plenty of leather dresses available that have feminine accents such as bows, ruffles, and lace on them.

If you are going for the leather runway fashion trend this winter, keep in mind that you may want to stick to the basic black leather for most of the clothing articles. When you start experimenting with wilder colors such as red or animal print you can possibly come across as cheaper looking. The exception to this is dark brown leather which can look good as boots and leather jackets and blazers.

Simply adding one leather article into your wardrobe this year can have you looking trendy and hip without even trying.
