How to Get a Colored Smokey Eye with Stila

Jenn from Stila shows you how to create a quick and easy colored smokey eye with just one product: the Stila Smudge Stick (in Bluefin)

How to Apply Smokey Eye Shadow

Sultry, sexy and stylish, smokey eyes, the result of properly applied smokey eye shadow, will make your face look fabulous. All it takes is the appropriate tools and technique.

Step 1
Fill both sides of the base brush with primer or base shadow. Blow excess shadow off of the brush.

Step 2
Starting at the lash line, gently diffuse the base shadow up slightly above the crease of the eye.

Step 3
Sweep the eye shadow brush over the darker colored shadow.

Step 4
Start at the outer corner of the eyelid, then blend shadow halfway in, sweeping it up and out. This gives the eye the smokey effect you are seeking.

Step 5
Use your dark colored eyeliner eyeliner, which can be liquid or pencil, to line the upper lash line from the outer corner to three quarters of the way in. Fill your eye shadow brush again and sweep over the line you just drew. For a totally finished look, apply mascara to your lashes.

Celebrity Makeup Tips: Red Hot Look of Reese Witherspoon

Heat up the holidays with smokey eyes and red hot lips, like Reese Witherspoon. Create your Reese Witherspoon look with a pale palette. Use a make up sponge to apply a foundation with maximum coverage and minimal shine. Be sure to dot some foundation on lips as well. Use a large powder brush to apply finishing powder.

Red Pout

Fake out your admirers with a Hollywood-plump pout, without an ounce of collagen. Wearing red lipstick adds the illusion of fullness to any set of lips. Make teeth look whiter, and enhance a pinkish complexion with a red in the plum family. Brown-based reds work best for women with warm, yellow tones. Line your lips with a red lip pencil which matches the red lipstick you selected. Keep Q-tips on hand for those times when you color outside your lip lines. Apply the red lipstick with a lipstick brush for the best coverage.

Smokey Eyes

Reese Witherspoon's smokey eyes work with her red pout because her eye make up colors stay neutral. Brush a taupe eye with a hint of gold shadow on eyelids. Use a champagne eye shadow under the brow. Consider matte eye shadows if you want the attention to fall mostly to the lips and your outlined eyes. Blend with your fingers.

Line eyes with a steel gray eyeliner, with a heavy line. Line under the eye's bottom lashes with a thinner line and smudge with a Q-tip. Use a generous amount of dark brown mascara.

Lighten Up, You're Gorgeous!

Keep eyebrows groomed and pale. If you have honey-colored or blond hair and eyebrows, you can lighten the eyebrows with tinted brow gel. Look for gels that are Ash Blonde or Blonde. Choose one accessory to wear, including a pair of subtle studs, a necklace, or a pair of designer glasses. Hair should be combed back over the hairs, and then fall naturally.
