Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Accessories

Your big day is finally here. Your fiance is poised at the altar, the attendants are in place, and there you are with no jewelry, crusty shoes and frumpy hair accouterments you found secondhand at the last minute. What an embarrassing way to exchange vows after months of preparation! However, do not fret, this does not have to be you. With careful planning you can top off your perfect wedding with the perfect wedding accessories.

Headgear
For tradition's sake a veil is mandatory on your wedding. Nonetheless, modern brides often prefer something a little different. Tiaras, sparkly hair clips and flowers are popular choices nowadays. For something with a little more spunk, consider adorning your hair with a petite, Victorian-style hat or a dramatic feathered comb. Additionally, if you would like the best of both worlds, most of these items can be worn with a veil, mixing old elements with new.

Jewelry
When it comes to picking wedding jewelry accessories, you must first consider your dress. If the dress is simple with only a few bells and baubles, you should feel free to wear more pieces of flashy jewelry. However, if your dress already features a plethora of adornments you may want to keep it simple with nothing more than a pair of earrings or bracelet. Additional items may seem like overkill.   When considering the type of jewelry you will wear, do not shy away from color. Sapphires or aquamarines can give you a nice little pop of something blue while rubies and emeralds will promote your flare for the dramatic.

Shoes
Shoes are a great way to express who you are. This should be no different on your wedding day. While your wedding dress will likely cover your shoes the entire ceremony, those tootsies are sure to make an appearance once it's time for that garter to come off during the reception. Finding shoes with a fun punch of color or a vibrant floral print is the perfect way to make a statement. If you are going with a beachy, shoe-free theme, substitute exotic shoes for a funky nail polish.

Miscellany
While most brides prefer to stick to the three basic wedding accessories--hair, jewelry and shoes--that does not mean these are your only choices. Instead of jewelry, try a pair of dramatic gloves. Fingerless versions are now available to suit your new ring. For winter weddings bejeweled cloaks and jackets can help to set the tone, while spring and autumn weddings may call for something more like a shawl. Then, of course, there are bows and belts used to accent a beautiful waistline on a plain dress. Any of these alternative wedding accessories can be gorgeous accents to your wonderful day.
