Zappos.com sponsored the Second Annual Live! With Regis and Kelly High Heel-a-Thon in New York City to support the Heart Truth on September 22nd. Over 500 women around the country came to run in their high heels alongside Kelly Ripa, Kristin Chenoweth, Tim Gunn and many more celebs to support a great charity and win great prizes.
The winner, Baltimore rugby player Ida Bernstein, had a miraculous finish that made ESPN’s Top Plays, scoring herself a 2011 VW Jetta and $10,000 in cash (watch her finish HERE). Second and third place finishers went home with $5,000 and $2,500 respectively. Catherine Berkowitz from North Carolina took home the trophy for Best Dressed, fashioned after the infamous Christmas Story lamp, and $1,000 for winning the contest that was judged by Tim Gunn (she happened to be wearing Gabriella Rocha heels).
The festivities included a Zappos.com booth where participants could have their pictures taken with life-sized Regis and Kelly cutouts and fun props. Since the participants did some damage to their heels, Zappos.com partnered with Seychelles to give free high heels to the top 300 finishers of the race.
