When asked what my favorite part of living in Las Vegas is, my most common response remains “you don’t shovel sunshine.” Growing up in the Midwest I had my fair share of snow, rain and ice — as well as slipping on it and falling on my butt. As I’ve grown older, I love the concept of what snow means: time by the fire, curling up with a cup of hot cocoa, a good book and my cat, or time having snowball fights with my kids.
The reality of snow, however, is shoveling, delayed school buses, ice, horribly long commutes (made worse by the people who act like, beyond snowflakes, the sky is falling) and freezing off various body parts. Thank goodness for amazing coats that make the whole thing a lot easier to deal with. Warm jackets and vests that keep us looking great, and that still allow us to put our arms down, are a blessing.
I know that my friends in the Midwest like to tell me I’m a wimp when I pull out a winter coat at 60°F, but I like to remind them that a month ago it was still 100°F, and my blood hasn’t thickened up yet after the 120°F days of summer.
No matter where you are, or what the temperatures you might find yourself in, I hope you enjoy some of the great choices for winter wear I’ve got for you this week. Don’t forget to check out our amazing winter hats, ear warmers and scarves to complete your look!
I LOVE the Bugaboo — with three jackets in one that will get you from the coldest days of winter through the wettest days of spring, you can’t go wrong. If you’d rather just stay in bed, this down jacket is the closest you can get to your soft down comforter.
In places like the Southwest and the Gulf States where the temperature doesn’t drop as significantly, it’s always good to have something to keep your core warm while out and about. Gorgeous colors with lightweight yet warm vests are the best way to go.
When it’s cold out but you still need to head to the office polished and professional, this is the route to go. A little bit of funk with faux fur or a classic trench creates a timeless yet classy wintry look.
