As customers move through the experience (located at the Western Hotel, 899 Fremont St.) they’re able to add to a shopping cart that exists in the physical and virtual worlds simultaneously. They’ll be able to choose exactly what it is they want in the color and size they want it and Zappos will deliver it using the same fast & free shipping customers have come to expect!

Customers will be able to browse, discover and find items including more than 2,500 sample items to touch and feel just like they normally would in any physical store. However, in the ShopWithMe experience, when a customer finds an item they like, their options are no longer limited by the walls of the store and they are able to broaden the shopping experience to include everything available to the Zappos customer online.

We hope to see you at the Zappos.com Pop-Up Shop this holiday season!

Recap: Zappos 3rd Annual Earth Day Party

On April 24th, Zappos hosted its 3rd Annual Earth Day Party at our new LEED-Gold* downtown Las Vegas campus! The plaza courtyard was packed with employees, vendors, and friends – this year’s event was leaps and bounds larger than the two previous year’s events.

Zappos LEAF teamed up with Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day this year to bring our kids to our Earth Day Party. The LEAF team gave a presentation about recycling, solar energy and water conservation to more than 100 kids! The kids already know so much about the importance of protecting our earth’s resources – it’s inspiring!

The LEAF team raffled two awesome beach cruisers for Zappos employees who participated in the event. Employees could earn extra raffle tickets for bringing used cell phones and batteries for proper recycling.  Needless to say, we collected a whole bunch of cell phones and batteries!

It is evident by the excitement around this event that Zappos employees really care about the environment and actively seek out ways to reduce their impacts. Though we celebrate Earth Day just one day a year, we really try to remind our employees and friends that it is important to celebrate every day with daily acts of “greenness”. The Zappos LEAF team is thankful to have such great support from the company and employees. You guys rock!

Thanks to these very special friends for making Earth Day 2014 a huge success:

The Blind Center of Nevada

Located in North Las Vegas, The Blind Center is the largest private not-for-profit seller on eBay, with 60% of its operating costs covered by electronics re-sale. The Blind Center is also a very green operation; including an impressive rooftop solar array that powers almost 100% of the electricity needed at its North Las Vegas headquarters

On a recent visit to The Blind Center, directors Cory and Ronnie showed the Zappos LEAF team that the Center is a joyful, happy place focused on helping people who are both genetically and newly blind to socialize, be active and reach their full potential.

The Center has grown to include classes in music, crafting, exercise and even bowling! Volunteers also lead members on trips to the grocery store and picnics at Red Rock Park. This holiday season, members of the center are busy assembling beautiful holiday gift baskets filled with delicious chocolate treats, with all proceeds benefitting The Blind Center programs (definitely check it out!).

On November 15, Zappos LEAF celebrated America Recycles Day by collecting computers, printers, and other home electronics from employees for donation to the Blind Center. We look forward to our continued friendship with The Blind Center; improving both the lives of others and the health of our planet.

Community Day with Boys Town Nevada and the UFC

Community Day with Boys Town Nevada and the UFC

On July 3, Zappos joined Boys Town Nevada and the UFC for the community day that kicked off the UFC’s International Fight Week—an annual event that included a two-day fan expo and culminated in UFC 162. Volunteers helped 100 at-risk boys and girls select a new pair of Nike, Converse, adidas, Vans, DC, or Stride Rite shoes from Zappos.com.

Once their shoes were chosen, the kids and their families enjoyed a provided lunch at the recently opened The Learning Village in downtown Las Vegas. There was even a Sno Cone truck on hand to provide some relief from 115-degree heat!

UFC fighters Phil Davis, Luke Rockhold, Forrest Griffin, Benson Henderson, Carlos Condit, Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Daniel Cormier were on hand to answer questions, take pictures and sign autographs.

Despite going a few rounds with the heat, it’s safe to say this bout resulted in a huge win for the kids!

Green Order Sustainability Workshop

San Francisco-based Cleantech Group and consulting firm Green Order – which Fortune has called “the go-to consulting company for green business” –brought a number of their clients and partners to Downtown Las Vegas last week for a sustainability workshop, hosted by the Zappos LEAF Team. The two-day event included an in-depth look at the progress of the Downtown Project, which includes Zappos’ forthcoming move to a new, LEED certified campus in the area. Additionally, sustainability leaders from leading companies like eBay, Facebook and UPS came together to discuss how they could use innovation and new business models to move the needle forward on sustainability. All in all, it was an extremely successful and productive two days and it was a great way to demonstrate the commitment of the Zappos LEAF team.

Day one of the workshop started with a walking tour of Downtown, with stops at CEO Tony Hsieh’s apartment in the Ogden (practically across the street from the soon-to-be-opening Zappos campus!), the newly reopened Gold Spike, and a stroll down Fremont East. The night ended up with a dinner at La Comida, a new addition to Downtown’s restaurant scene. Not only were the participants treated to a delicious Mexican dinner, but they were also able discuss the importance of community connectivity to creating a happier, more sustainable city.

The next day started bright and early, with brainstorming sessions on how sustainability professionals could incorporate technological innovation into making their companies more environmentally friendly. Not only was the brainstorming session thought- provoking, but it ended up being fun as well! After that, the group toured the Zappos Carson Street office, a LEED Gold Certified Core and Shell building that is serving as a test lab for the new campus’s setup.

During the afternoon, participants shared ideas on how to embed new sustainable business ideas into their own organizations. Everyone walked away with some great ideas, some of which the LEAF team will be bringing to Zappos in the near future!
