The arrival of out-of-town guests, surprise overnight guests, or (gasp!) visiting in-laws doesn’t have to arouse stress and hesitation. There are a few things you can do to play super host and keep your guests feeling at home and comfortable during their stay.
1. Comfy Bed: If you don’t have a designated guest bedroom, investing in a good quality air mattress from Aerobed can be a very useful space saver. Compared to an uncomfortable futon, an air mattress gives a lot more support. Aerobed air mattresses quickly and easily inflate and deflate for convenient stow-away. Also invest in soft bedding and quality pillows to give your guests an even more restful night’s sleep.
2. Storage and Laundry: Clear out some drawer space or closet space for your guests if possible. Also make sure there’s a place for them to rest their suitcase as well as a laundry hamper available for them to use.
3. Keep it comfy: Make sure to have a lamp next to your guests’ bed. It’s also nice to have an alarm clock, a box of tissues, and a trash can in their room or sleeping area.
4. Little details: You can wow your guests by adding some fresh flowers, a scented candle, a bowl of their favorite candies, perhaps even a little basket of travel-sized toiletries in the guest bathroom. Even small details can go a long way into making them feel welcome in your home.
Being a good host/hostess is easier than you might think! Try these little tips the next time you have guests stay at your home. But be careful, they may not ever want to leave!
