Zappos Blogs: costa rica
For our last day of shooting in beautiful Costa Rica, we took to the ocean for some glamorous boat shots. It was such a gorgeous day and it made for some really amazing photos.
We continue our sneak peek series on our spring shoot in Costa Rica with Day 4 around Manuel Antonio. We shot around Hotel Costa Verde , the main beach in Manuel Antonio and even found some really quaint cobblestone streets that made for some really cool shots.
Check back next week for the final day of shooting. Here’s a hint: We’re on a boat!
Day 3 of our Costa Rica spring shoot was a little more on the glamorous side. We did our swim editorial shoot at Los Altos, a posh high-rise beach resort and condos in Manuel Antonio. Their fabulous infinity pool overlooking the ocean served as the perfect backdrop.
We also went to Mango Moon, a quaint boutique hotel nestled in the beach town of Quepos.
On day 2 of our spring shoot, we headed to the beaches of beautiful Manuel Antonio in Puerto Quepos. Our first location was a little bit of a hike, but it was well worth it. The payoff was this gorgeous secluded beach at the end of the trail called Playa Biesanz. It was so peaceful and we highly recommend it for a nice morning hike and even a beachside jog along the lovely cove.
We then headed out to the main beach which is a bit more of a tourist spot. The streets are lined with lots of shops, restaurants and bars, making Manuel Antionio Beach the perfect spot to spend an entire day. You can even learn how to surf with one of the many surf instructors lining the beach.
To top it all off, the sunsets on this side of Costa Rica are definitely picture perfect!
For day one of our Costa Rica shoot, we took to Escazu, a province in the capital city of San Jose. This town is filled with so much charm and the people are so friendly and warm. It made for a wonderful day of shooting lifestyle and flat shots for spring.
We found some really cool street scenes, an old church in the middle of town, and best of all, a view to die for on top of a hill overlooking San Jose. There’s a quaint, rustic restaurant up there called Tiquicia. If you’re ever in San Jose, this place is a must stop. They have THE most amazing tilapia we have ever had as well as other traditional Costa Rican dishes that are absolutely delicious. And the view…well, it speaks for itself!
Check out some highlights from day 1:
Spring is in the air! Well, maybe not quite yet, but we’re definitely getting excited for the new season after coming back from our Spring 2012 photo shoot! My team and I were lucky enough to be able to shoot in the beautiful country of Costa Rica once again.
We’ve got LOTS more to share from Costa Rica, including fun behind-the-scenes videos and a new Travel Stylelogue series that we’ll be launching very soon with helpful travel and style tips for each of our on-location trips, starting with the land of “Pura Vida”—Costa Rica!. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, check out this video of our scouting trip around Escazu and Manuel Antonio:
Since my team and I are off to Costa Rica once again for our Spring 2012 style shoots, I thought it was only fitting to start off the year’s first Style Destination post with where else—Costa Rica!
With its lush, green landscape and gorgeous coastline, Costa Rica is definitely a tropical playground. Being comfy and cool is top priority when packing for any tropical destination. Here are a few of my essentials for this trip:
1. Goorin Brothers Malibu Hat: Humidity and hair just don’t mix. This lightweight fedora is a must for easy, fuss-free hair!
3. Ella Moss Rhapsody Cover Up Hooded Poncho: A sheer coverup is perfect for throwing on while you enjoy a little poolside cocktail!
5. Oakley Dispatch II Polarized: These oversized shades keep the glare away while looking totally glam.
