In between shows and showroom appointments, we managed to squeeze in some much-needed people watching in two totally different locales during Fashion Week in NYC: Lincoln Center (the epicenter of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) and the hip, brownstone-lined streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Where the scene in Lincoln Center mid fashion week was more edgy and runway-inspired, Williamsburg had a decidedly more laid-back approach to style.

If you’re going on board a cruise this summer, we suggest packing according to the different activities you’ll be partaking in: outfits for lounging on the lido deck, dinner & dancing, swimming, and excursions.

It’s no secret that florals are a year-round favorite in the world of prints. This summer, incorporate this girly print in fun, new ways. Do a subtle touch of floral with accessories or, if you’re feeling bold, try mixing floral prints like the outfit featured above.

One of our favorite summer trends has to be white denim. There’s something so utterly clean and fresh about a pair of white jeans or shorts on a guy. This trend may look intimidating, but it’s actually quite easy and versatile!

A pair of slim white jeans (like the Buffalo David Bitton Kemitch Slim Straight) can be dressed up with a nice button up or polo and a pair of oxfords, or dressed down with sneakers and a cool tee.

Brighten up your weekend casuals with a pair of white shorts (like the Jet Lag Take Off 3 Short), sneakers and short-sleeve button down shirt.

No matter how you opt to wear this season’s white denim, you’ll definitely be looking cool despite the summer heat.

With July 4^th coming up and summer in full swing, you can’t blame us for being in the mood for a little red, white and blue! Our trend highlights for this week are all about capturing the casual, laid back vibe of summer.

For the 4th of July, stick to comfy pieces like shorts, tank tops and tees. Since you’ll probably be busy celebrating the day’s festivities, a pair of comfy shoes or sandals is a good idea. And of course, red, white and blue adds that patriotic touch!

This summer, we’re also going back to one of our favorite go-to trends: nautical. It’s just one of those quintessential summer trends that’s super easy to wear. Grab a pair of boat shoes or espadrille sandals, a striped tee or dress, and you’re ready for the sunny days ahead!

We are already in our fourth week of summer internship at Zappos, but it feels like no time at has passed at all! This, I suppose, is a good thing, as no one wants to dread their job so much that it crawls like a paraplegic snail. If these few weeks are any indication, the end is going to jump out of nowhere and surprise us all!

I am the intern on the 6pm side of things, so here is my spiel: 6pm.com is the sister site to Zappos, selling items at deep discounts (this equals lots of shiny new shoes for not a lot of shiny dough). Think of it as an online Marshall’s. Great deals, people!

One of the great attributes of Zappos is the fact that EVERYONE (not generalizing in the least) is open to mentoring me. The best example of this was this past Tuesday. I reached out to the Style Editing Team about a possible day of shadowing so I could see how the department operated. Marie, one of our style editors, proceeded to invite me to a photo shoot soon after. I was on that like orange on a carrot!

Most of Marie’s job as a stylist happens prior to the shoot: picking the outfits, coordinating with our photo team, and lots more. It involves lots of planning. The day of the shoot, however, is all about the model and achieving the desired look. Marie and her team are really great at their jobs, and the model Julianna was a total pro. Just being able to watch it all in action set my heart aflutter!

During the shoot, I helped with a few things like hanging up clothes and operating the fan (to achieve the windblown look), but mostly, I talked to anyone and everyone and took in as much as I could.

Working at Zappos sometimes feels like a little slice o’ Heaven. If this is what work is like, I may never want to leave!

Day shine is a trend that dispels the old adage that you can’t wear sequins or glittery clothes during the day. The trick to pulling off this look without being mistaken for a mid-day disco ball is to keep your shine to one item. Try a sequin-trimmed tank top or clutch. Moderation is key to make this look work for daytime!

Maxi dresses are one of our all-time favorite staples for warm weather and beyond. For summer, look for lightweight fabrics in fun prints to make a statement, or opt for a striking white maxi for a fresh, airy feel.

For the guys, preppy style is making quite the comeback for summer. A few good staples to  build a cool preppy look are: khaki/chino shorts, boat shoes, loafers, and polo shirts (in various colors).

P.S. A sweater tied around the shoulder does not apply!

The tribal trend has been around for a while, and it’s steadily gaining popularity as a bold yet wearable option. We love incorporating them into tank tops, swimwear, dresses and even accessories!
