Giving back to the community is something that’s engrained in the DNA of surf footwear brand OluKai. That’s why they’ve partnered with Project Save Our Surf to help with relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy victims in New York. Olukai donated over 700 pairs of close-toed shoes as well as financial support to stores and retail shops they work with that have suffered structural damage.

Ambassadors from Project Save Our Surf made the drive from Santa Monica to New York where they work with New York Surfrider Foundation to set up several relief outposts for those affected by the storm.

"Everyone at OluKai has been deeply moved by the aftermath of Sandy,” said Cara Hockersmith, OluKai Project Lead for Sandy Relief Efforts. “We are grateful to be able to take local action with our partners Project Save Our Surf and New York Surfrider.”

Paddling forward to give back. OluKai is a brand that is deeply grounded to the ocean and the culture, history and community that surrounds it. This spring, OluKai held their interpretation of the traditional Hawaiian celebration, the Ho’olaule’a, on Maui’s north shore. The event blends elite competition with family-friendly cultural activities. They also gathered some of the world’s best SUP (stand-up paddle) and outrigger canoe paddlers to race the legendary 8-mile Maliko downward run.

The OluKai Ho’olaule’a is truly a celebration and expression of gratitude, inspired by the strong tradition of giving back in the Polynesian culture.
